  1. Your right. I had it backwards. Sorry nomad!
  2. I don't think it was as much the school or communtiy as it was the coach's not helping themselves. Muckle was more worried about his daughter (who was a good ball player best I remember) and Miller was more worried about making the parents happy. Cully played Hume-Fogg twice last year and the Cully girls won both.
  3. You are correct. The competition is down this year compared to the past. Wouldn't exactly call Hume Fogg a good team though. But the energy level of the team has sky rocketed. Top to bottom. The young girls have came in and boosted the competition within the team. That alone will make the team alot better. They may get beat by better teams but the scores won't be 60 to 10 like years past. By tournament time they will be good enough as a team to spoil a team like Santa Fe's hopes. Not saying they will this year, but the odds of that happening are shrinking by the minute.
  4. The Lady Warriors went 3-0 over the Thanksgiving break and seem to be getting better all the way around. Some things that may blow your mind. First time being 3-1 in over a decade, first 3 game win streak since 2001 and first time scoring 45+ points in 3 straight games since 2004. This program is improving folks.
  5. The game was closer than the score shows. It was an 8 point game with 4 minutes left in the 3rd. Culleoka just looked out of shape toward the end. A couple of times there were 4 freshman on the floor at the same time in the first half when it was a single digit game. This team will get better. And sooner than most people seem to think.
  6. I would agree that practice was run better with Miller than with Crabtree and Muckle. But what's that really saying? You are correct in saying the younger girls looked lost. But when handed a paper with plays on them and expected to run them without actually practicing them...I would be lost too. I also agree that there were alot of open looks that were just flat out missed. That also stemmed from lack of practice. If the coach doesn't care enough to practice as a team, why practice on your own? Sharp's staters won't be much different (minus Taylor Willis who is out with injury) but the players off the bench will be. The main difference will be the fire in the eyes of the players that Coach Sharp will light. And no, I'm not family to a kid that didn't play. Or to a kid that had higher minutes than shooting % either.
  7. No, what didn't help Miller was not practicing for weeks at a time, when he did have practice he was the main offensive player and he played the players whose parents cried if their "superstar" daugther on a 3-18 team didn't get to play 3/4 of the game. Even Jeff Quirk (who doesn't know much about basketball) was tired of all the drama that miller let happen. Richland didn't want him, Culleoka didn't want to keep him. Maybe coaching basketball isn't his thing? It was a business decision, nothing against the man. It was time for a change. End of story. One more thing, if you think the work ethic dwindled when the younger girls showed up you are DEAD wrong. They get after it on and off the court.
  8. The coaching change was necessary. Things went south for Miller in a hurry. The girls didn't respect him. He was more of a friend than a coach. Something had to be done. The group of girls that are there now have an amazing amount of potental. Hayley Foster, Logan Scott and Allison Clark will be in the conversation with Nelms, Fagen and Hopkins when they are juniors and seniors. They have the work effort and drive to get to that level. Not to mention that they absolutely hate to lose, something girls at Culleoka don't mind as much as they should. They will be better this year and alot better next year. After that, look out. Coach Sharp realized this potentional and I believe thats why he took the job. Just because Miller couldn't win, doesn't mean Sharp can't....
  9. I'm not trying to start rumors either. Just what I heard.
  10. No doubt Slatton leaving was a big blow to the program, as it would be to any program. He is a great coach that is next to impossible to replace at the high school level. DeJarnette did some good thing in his time at CA. I was shocked to hear he had left. Can he replace Slatton? No. This year may be an "off" year. (kinda like district runner-up last year was an "off" year) Who knows. I love how nobody can stand to be in the same gym as Culleoka but as soon as the coaching job opens up the whole county and half the state comes running. Thought that was interesting.
  11. Well this district tournament turned out alot differently than ANYONE could have guessed. Richland advances after losing to Cully 17-6, CA is the first team out, SF beat Cully and Richland crushes Cornersville. Good luck to MTP and Richland. Represent the district well. Any details on Richland/Cornersville? Winning/losing pitcher?
  12. Yeahhhhh I don't think Laster will be region MVP considering he won't be playing in region.
  13. I'm going to take Cully over SF and MTP over Cornersville. Cville just isn't playing good baseball right now.
  14. Yes he threw against Cully the first game of the season and beat them 2-0. I wouldn't look too far into that though. Like jonnynitro said, they are 2 totally different teams now. I look for it to be low scoring tomorrow night. If you want to look into anything at all (which I wouldn't) Hunter Morrow shut MTP down about 3 weeks ago. That means very little in the tournament though. Good luck to all teams. BTW does anybody know what happened to Zack Earl from CA? He was in shorts in the picture in today's paper.
  15. it will be MT PLEASANT What makes you so sure? Cully beat them a couple weeks ago and lost to them 2-0 on the first game of the season. I'm not saying it won't be MTP, just curious on why you think it will be them.
  16. Culleoka beat up on Richland 17-6. Turner McKay hit a 3 run homer. James Upshaw went the distance. Still need to tighten up on D though. After round 1 of tournament play I dont think there is a clear favorite. Cornersville and CA both squeek by. Cully is hot but can't even tell what team will show up. Even SF and Hampshire played good ball today. The championship will come down to who wants it more. Which team will it be????
  17. i agree with everything on here with the exception of CA and Santa Fe....with Staggs on the mound i think it will be a good game but i think CA's bats are too good for Santa Fe to win....who knows Staggs could throw a great game and get the win for his team but like i said it is gonna take him being at his best....he will have to hit good and score runs for his team too I think Cornersville and Culleoka take care of business tonight on their home turf, rather easily. CA should get a win tonight as well, but might be closer than people think. SF will most likely have Staggs on the mound which automatically gives them a chance to win. And lets not forget that SF blew a 6 or 7 run lead over CA earlier in the year.... Good luck to all teams.
  18. Cornersville/ Hampshire CA/ Santa Fe Cully/ Richland Who ya got and why?
  19. Learn how to type in complete sentences Why are you worried about complete senteces...Dang your stupid. Why do you have a name like SFWidcats101 when you go to Cornersville? And your calling him stupid...?
  20. I think WC may surprise everyone and win this thing. Collinwood plays Mt Pleasant today @ Collinwood. Anyone know how strong Mt Pleasant is tis year? MTP will have a coin flip with Cornersville to determine the #1 seed in 11A. They have only lost 2 district games this year, one to Culleoka and one to Cornersville. They are pretty strong when G. Ring is on the mound, but when he isn't they are very beatable. Their hitting has been hot and cold throughout the year. Wouldn't expect them to throw much at 12A this late in the year. Hope that helps ya out some.
  21. Cornersville beat Cully 4-1 tonight.
  22. Cully/Cville game for today is postponed until tomorrow at 5. Predictions???
  23. Cully beat Cornersville tonight 3-1 Good baseball game.
  24. Wow how mature is that? There should be an age limit on here. Last minute predictions on Cully/Cville?? From somebody not on Cornersville's baseball team!
  25. What makes you think they can't hit Cornersville's pitching? Cully hit Staggs hard less than a week ago and he is one of the top pitchers in the district. I think Cully will hit C-ville pitching better than the 65-70 they have been seeing most of the year.
