  1. I just don't think Marshall County can even stand a chance in this game. They have been lucky all year somehow coming out with a win several times despite average hitting at best and terrible defense. They have two decent pitchers who only win games at home because of the "friendly" umpires, who wouldn't be anyone's aces. All USJ has to do is show up in matching uniforms and stick the bat in the air, you will touch it and MC will boot it. The only way USJ loses is by disqualification. Don't worry about anyone from Marshall hitting the ball either. There is no way they stand a chance against any team from West TN especially the GREAT USJ who is the best team ever and crushes everyone. They can hit anybody with all those future Major Leaguers and there is no way anyone can touch their top notch recruits. MC will get run-ruled and USJ will go on to win the state, nation, and universe. Good luck MC, try to survive. USJ slaughters EVERYONE... well except for the 5 teams they lost to.... but other than that they kill EVERYBODY. And yes Marshall County, you are part of that everybody. No one can beat this team
  2. I believe one of the younger arms started for MC against Clarksville, but Lintz came in for an inning or two holding them scoreless. Will Gant be throwing Tuesday?
  3. Irvin definitely is an exceptional pitcher. He relied heavily on his fastball. I'm sure the MC hitters were excited to see the good speed Irvin had as they have done well facing pitchers with good speed, but surprisingly they were definitely fooled by Irvin. He went up in the zone quite often and it seemed as though MC couldn't catch up. Irvin had a no no into the 7th which is amazing. But MC finally made the adjustments late and got the few hits when they counted for the win. Amazing game to Seth Lintz.
  4. Giles relies nearly completely on their bats. They are a very good hitting team top to bottom. Power hitters in Perez(leadoff 3B), Edgmon(ask Stoltz), and McMasters. Holley is a very good hitter but all can put the ball in play. Defense is average and so is pitching. No dominant pitcher. Will probably see Sanderson. Big kid w/ above average speed and decent curveball. Probably see Sutton in relief. Tricky knuckleballer.
  5. Throughout the season, Marshall has failed to play two days in a row to their potential level. In the Monday games thus far in the district, MC has outscored opponents 46-8 going 4-0. The Tuesday games, however the Tigers have failed to play with the least bit of passion going 2-2 only outscoring 22-16 making many more errors with a huge dropoff in hitting too. Marshall is definitely the most well-rounded team in this district with the best potential and talent, but they have came out flat too many times this year and that will not get them anywhere. They should beat Giles twice but they have to SHOW UP ready to go both days. I'm sure the coaches will have them ready both games next week. The Tigers bounced back from the Loretto loss tonight with a 2-0 win over Lincoln County. Corey Sorrells pitched a 1-hit shutout.
  6. Marshall won this one fairly easy pulling away in the third inning but i wouldnt call it domination. Tomorrow will be another intense game. MC's bats were going in this one and Lintz was on his game.

I'll go with Marshall in both, but close games. Marshall's pitching too good. But the defense needs to bounce back (which they will) from the 8 error Spring Hill game or they will lose. Marshall will manufacture enough runs to pull out two low-scoring close ball games
  8. Marshall County beat Greenbrier 12-2 in 5 innings. Zach Cross and Corey Searls pitched for MC. Rematch Sat. @1 pm
  9. Great, high strung game. Can't wait for the game tomorrow. Should be pretty heated. Congrats Tigers!
  10. Jake Lintz is the starting catcher. Cody Primm starts at 1B. Stoltz at 3B. Seth Lintz and Stoltz rotate between 3B and outfield depending on the pitcher (Lintz, Stoltz, or Cross). Tietgens and Chapman did not go out for baseball this year. The RF spot will be either occupied by Fred West (newcoming senior), Corey Sorrells, or possibly Seth Lintz. Kellen Gower (also first year senior) DH's usually for the RF as does Colton Primm. I'd have to give the nod to Seth Lintz as MC's #1 pitcher. I would be very surprised to see MC lose either game but either way they will definitely be competitive
  11. Lintz was dominant in his last start against Overton in a 5-0 complete game shutout. Not sure on the K's but he didn't throw too many pitches to do it. Marshall in both games
  12. Both teams enter district play on a roll with MC 7-0 and Page at 7-2. Shaping up to be a big matchup. Who will win these games?

Based on last year's outcomes and returning players, Marshall is definitely the favorite going into the season. They lost only four seniors and have 8 this year. The team's strength is pitching with Lintz and Stokes as very solid 1 and 2. They return the bulk of the offensive production from last year which is what will determine where this team goes. If Marshall puts up runs they will be VERY tough to beat and I don't see them losing in the district with the new format. No one in the district has two pitchers on MC's level and hardly anyone has one on Lintz's level. ... Giles and Spring Hill will both have very good teams that can hit the ball and you have to throw Loretto in the mix just b/c they were there last year but Lewis returns a lot and may surprise people but i see Page in the gutter this year. I see the final standings as MC, SH, GC, L, LC, P
