  1. Brentwood will win the district. I would like to see someone else, but I am am sure that Brentwood will go through on top. They have far to much depth and talent. Plus they only lost two people from last year. They were a dominant force last year, and they will be again this year. I think the big fight will be for who gets to claim second place... It could be any of the big four left... Franklin, Independence, Ravenwood and Centennial. I have to go with Independnce and Franklin playing for the second place spot at the end of the season.
  2. Sounds Good... I am going with Overton 1-0 over Franklin, and I think that Independence will come out on top 2-1 over Brentwood. The big upset of the tournament...
  3. It all looks good, but I am a little worried about Ravenwood... They are an awesome team, but I have heard the Will may not be playing for some reason. I know that one play doesn't always make the team, but without his presence on the field I think Ravenwood could struggle a bit. The speed and skill of Overton has been a tough pairing to beat, they will be tough. When working on all cylinders, the team could be a challenge. I think it will be: Brentwood Franklin Overton Independence
  4. Ummmm... It is anybody's really. It will come down to next week's game and of course the Ravenwood Overton game tonight... We shall see. Go Overton!!!!
  5. I would go with the thermal blue/centipede mix... It has a well established root system and is a hardy grass. It comes from the grass farms of Nebraska and proves to be a the perfect winter mix.
  6. I have to say that a mixture of pure clover and a slight hint of Fescue makes the best playing surface... the ball just rolls ever so smoothly until it runs into a nice clump of clover and completely diverts the opponents pass. This would allow any good team to take advantage of the field and run with it. I mean for crying out loud we just played on a field that was closer to a beach then a soccer field. I personally feel that if we could remove the sand and the Zoesia hybrids, we would find ourselves playing on a purely arousing green surface with no complaints about fields causing losses or sand bunkers in the middle of a playing... golf is fun and all but come on... no ones wants to have their balls stuck in the sand.
  7. GRASS MAKES ALL THE DIFFERENCE IN THE GAME.... IT NEEDS TO BE A NICE GREEN LUSH FIELD. WHY DON"T PEOPLE GET THIS!?! The result would have been different if the field was a FESCUE HYBRID.... AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH
  8. I am sorry to say that there is something rather nostalgic about walking onto a field of pure clover and feeling the absolute bliss of watching the level pass hit a bump and miss direct a ball into the back of the net. I am one who would always argue that the perfect mix of Fescue and a winter rye will yield the ultimate playing surface. One just cannot compete on anything less. It almost becomes hard to hide ones composure when a green playing surface opens up to a victory. I will agree that that a bad field allows a very different play. Next time we should find a neutral site with a knee high, overgrown swamp grass and see who emerges without a snake bit or some random disease undiscovered here in the US. Better yet, let’s just take the game to a new level and play on a mixture of a grass mid-field with a concrete 18 yard box and a sandbox six. This would be great, a bad keep could then build a sand castle and kick it at who ever is attacking them thus allowing the chance of sand getting into the attacking players eyes. I think the game would be great then. Congrats to CHS that was a tough one I am sure. Next time I do feel that if a fescue hybrid cannot be found that a new offspring of grass needs to be planted and produce a hybrid form Zoesia (SP). Ohhhhhh baby that would be nice... Green field here we come.
  9. Well you make at least one good point, on the scale of brackets... FRA was in the more difficult of brackets according to numbers and stats, but you need to think about what you said after that... you claim that on the whole all of those teams are of a lower status because they are not part of AAA. That takes away from the whole sport. It should come down to the players and the coaches not the size of the school. Either way, if the teams were better and the bracket was more difficult, then the end result should have been different. Independence also played a tough team on Saturday morning at the same time as FRA and still faced the same number of games and played on the field the same amount of time. Fatigue and other excuses should not play in. Other wise, you down play the skill of the game and the fact that any team who walks on the field has a chance of making an upset or accomplishing something special.
  10. I am still unsure about USN and FRA, but Fairview lost to Collierville 5-1, Dickson Co over Pigeon Forge 4-1, and Independence over Antioch 7-0. Today's games are Collierville vs. Antioch, Pigeon Forge vs. FRA, USN vs. Dickson Co, and Independence vs. Fairview. The Finals will be a toss up between FRA or DICKSON Co from the first bracket and Independence or Collierville from the other bracket. The decision day will come down to Saturday because FRA will play Dickson Co and Independence will play Collierville at 10 in the morning... the finals will be played at 2:30 saturday afternoon.
  11. Read the quote right... I said nothing about INDY being little... the little blue part is the message from the person before, but thanks for playing along... Read it again and see that the point made by myself was one of support for both teams. If you take the time to read before you act you would see that you are throwing accusations at the wrong person. But thanks for the advice I would hate to do the same thing...
  12. Well said.... the game was a good one and regardless of what anyone says, it could have gone either way. It was still 1-0 at half and just comes down to who was in the right place at the right time. Both teams have a great chance to turn head this year. I agree anyone who looses 5-0 needs to feel the crappy pain of being humiliated. I hope neither Independence nor CHS face that fate, but if they do the team who puts up that’s score played one heck of game. The game is over, the results are up, so no need to bicker about it all... the next time the outcome will be totally different, that’s just how soccer is played, you win and you lose, it all comes down to how the team plays. Best of luck to both teams and may the successful execution continue... what ever the heck that’s about...
  13. I think that it will be a good game and in no way a blow out like that. Independence has a strong team, and that can be seen based on their scores against Father Ryan and Bearden. The games were close. Centennial also has a great team and a great coach. The game will be 2-1 in favor of Independence. The Franklin game that the Centennial team showed up to is in no way a representation of Independence soccer, much like the Franklin game against BGA was in no way a good example of Franklin soccer. It will be a good game.
  14. I have the picture to prove the gift from the ref. The last goal was a clear sign of obstruction and offside’s. The game should have ended either as a tie or when the true game was over a 2-1 game to Father Ryan. The game was horribly one-sided in regards to the calls and it was not a good game. Both teams are strong and no discredit to the win, Father Ryan outplayed Independence, but the games should be determined by the players not the guys in yellow.
  15. 1. Brentwood 2. Independence 3. Overton 4. Ravenwood 5. Franklin 6. Centennial 7. Hillsboro The Shock of the group Overton. They are putting up some good numbers right now and have the potential to be a team to upset some of the others. This just depends on if they tend to follow some of their previous season trends... they look really good. Of course all of this will also depend on the ability and game Independence brings. They have been up and down so far this year. I have watched them play and they have the ability to bring it, even to Brentwood, but they need to play their game. Ravenwood and Franklin could switch but so far I think it will end like this...
