  1. Indeed they did. I was very impressed with the improvement of their defense. Devils didn't hit to their potential at all tonight, never do there really. Johnson Countys pitcher is a good one for being so young, looked like she worked the outside AND inside pretty well.
  2. Tiffany Bowman from Chuckey Doak is a young strong competitor, I think once she gets her mentalality on the mound a little stronger, she will be a great one. She already has the pitches, she can throw a wicked screw ball and her change up is sweet when its on. Taylor will go far, she is one who never she emotions on the mound and is hard to rattle. I do agree that Kara is pitching the best right now, she has a ton of expirence already and she is just a sophomore. If she stays mentally and physically strong, she could pitch for a big D1 school. Kara has a lot of natural talent but she works hard, and thats what makes her stand out. I probably couldn't count high enough to count all the games she has pitched in, much less the batters she has faced. I have nothing but respect for Kara Woods and I just hope that keeps playing up to her potential and working hard. She is already a great pitcher, but she will be an outstanding pitcher if she just keeps up the hard work. I can't wait to see you pitch at the next level! Goodluck tonight to the Lady Devils as the travel to Johnson County!
  3. During the Boone/DB game a girl got in a run down and was tagged out. When the girl entered the dugout the coach slapped the back of her helmet as she walked past......and let's just say be gald she was wearing a helmet.
  4. You cannot go on the score of this game. Allen county had two hits the whole game. Erwin hit the ball and hit it hard but it was just one of those games where they hit it right to them. I can't remember a time when Allen County had to take more than 2 steps for a ball. Tough Luck! You ladies played fantastic better than anyone expected!
  5. Happy Valley is still pretty weak but with new coaches that could change in the next few years. South Greene has the athletes but not the drive. They have Ramono back, the pitcher that beat Unicoi 2 years ago, they also have Dye, who is a stellar athlete all the way around, at shortstop. They also have one of the best centerfielders around. That girl can catch anything in the air. When South Greene came to Unicoi though, it was as if they had no drive to even be there.
  6. Lets hope the Lady Devils can keep this momentum going during the NFS tournament. They play Cherokee right out of the gate at 5:30 followed by Volunteer at 8:30. Both teams are very tough and should be the top contenders in this tournament.
  7. Bunting should be part of every practice in high school, in my opinion. I have seen dozens of games won by just a bunt.
  8. Unicoi appears to be in total control, beating Elizabethton last night 3-1 in 8 innings. Pitching and defense are unbreakable right now and their hitting is coming along. They will play South Greene at home today, should be another good game. Good Luck ladies!
  9. His daughter is number 20 on unicoi's team...
  10. Erwin will be coming off an amazing season! They will be fueled by their urge to return to state to avenge the loss to Gibbs. Unicoi lost 2 of their starters, both of which were strong hitters and an amazing pitcher. I don't think that they will miss a beat however, They all seem eager to begin playing and have been working extremely hard since that unforgetable trip to state last season. Erwin will be lead by 4 seniors, all of which are planning on playin ball in college, 2 have commited and 1 has signed, the fourth has gotten plenty of great offers, its just a matter of finding the right spot. Emilee Lovette and Kara Woods may not be seniors but they will definately have leadership roles this season. All of these girls have been playing together for years now, they chemistry is amazing between this group of girls. I cannot wait until march 9th!
  11. Kadey is a jr and this is 1AA but anyways I have seen all 3 of these girls pitch for several years now and you are right they are all great pitchers. Kara will really go far if she keeps her head in the right place. She has such a strong mentality in the circle its very hard to shake her. I have seen fire come out of her eyes when she gives up a homerun or even a base hit, most of the time she will blow the nest 3 pitches by the batter for a strike out. I can recall only a handful of times when she has given up 2 base hits in a row....actually two walks for that matter.

Whitley Hensley from Unicoi has signed with ETSU.
  13. C. Miller may be small, but he plays like he is 6'6. He jump higher than most people, and has tremendous speed. he is also very stron and isn't afraid to go inside.
  14. I'm sure its the same person=] He always was a good basketball player.
  15. This is just a complete guess going off the people who have moved to Virginia that would in this year's graduating class...but would that player be Zakk Hale? Just a guess.
  16. Unicoi Wins 69 to 60. They need a lot of work handling the ball, but other than that they looked pretty promising. Sophomore, Logan Lyle, dunked it tonight..that was impressive. They take on Volunteer tomorrow at 8.. Goodluck!
  17. Last night's game was the way I like to see my Lady Devils. They really stepped up and showed how bad the wanted to go to Murfeesboro. I think they can thank all of the people who said this year would be a rebuilding year for them and they wouldn't go as far as last year, well the rebuilt alright and proved many people wrong Congratulations Ladies!!!! I am so proud of each and everyone of you=]

If the ladies continue to play like they have the last 2 days, they will have a great shot at getting back to State. I love seeing my Lady Devils play up to their standards and not down to their opponents. Keep it up ladies, show no mercy! mercy is for God=]

Well Unicoi/Elizabethton game was once again a close, nerve-racking, tight game. The 10-inning game came down to an error by Elizabethton's catcher allowing Candace Meadows to literally crawl home. Elizabethton had runners on 2nd and 3rd with 0 outs in the 10th inning, but Unicoi's Kara Woods never gave up. Kara struck out the next 3 batters getting the lady devils out of a jam. With the international tie rule coming into play, Unicoi placed Candace on 2nd base, Jessica Mason than placed down a sacrifice bunt moving Meadows to 3rd. Unicoi's clean-up hitter, Whitley Hensley stepped up to the plate and laid down a bunt up the 1st base line, Taylor Bellessa fielded it and flipped it home, Candace slid into the catcher and the ball was mishandled and rolled a few feet allowing Candace to crawl to the plate. These 2 teams will more than likely face off twice in the district tournament. Goodluck Lady Devils!!!!

    TSSAA RULES

This game will more than likely be another low scoring, close game. Both teams will have to come out swinging from the get-go and never stop. Both teams will have to play outstanding defense. There is no doubt in my mind that Unicoi is the better team, and can beat the cyclones, but by no means does that mean they will win. I think Unicoi will have the advantage because they will be at home and it is also senior night. I know Jessica was pretty pumped up last time I talked to her about the game. Goodluck Lady Devils.
