  1. Kingston beat CAK to play Stone in the championship game. Kingston beat Stone in the 1st game 3-2 Tried to get the second game played but storm washed it out after about an 1 1/2 hour wait to try to get it in. The second game will be played tomorrow at 2 est at Anderson Co. High School
  2. I have no clue why anyone would think that playing quality competition wouldn't make you better. I would think that Stone saw plenty that they need to work on after the game Saturday night. It's all about playing your best ball at the end of the year anyway and good competition shows you the things that you need to get better at.
  3. Goodpasture played an excellent game last night against Stone! There pitcher threw a great game! (Whew if she ain't a 100% I'd hate to see her when she was) They took advantage of every opportunity, which is the sign of a quality team! Certainly won of the top 4 or 5 teams we've played this year. Stone's pitcher threw pretty well, certainly better than the score indicated. Unfortunately the defense decided to set this one out. Hopefully they can get there head's screwed back on straight for today's games. You just can't have those kind of meltdowns defensively against even an average opponent, and certainly nobody left at this level of competition fits into the average category. I've not seen Camden play, but it'll certainly take a excellent effort from any team to beat Goodpasture! Good luck to both teams in the game today.
  4. Stone plays the winner of Oakhaven and Westview in the 1st round. I'm pretty sure they wouldn't see Gibbs again until at least the finals of the winner's bracket or possibly somewhere in the loser's bracket.
  5. I can assure you that every girl on the Stone team takes every opponent seriously. They have done an excellent job of it all year and with the exception of a few mental lapses they have stayed focused. I'm sure Pigeon Forge has the respect of every Lady Panther and they will be taking them seriously come friday. Stone overlooked a team from that region (Unicoi) earlier in the year while they were concentrating on Riverdale and Mt. Juliet in a tourney. I don't think they will make that same mistake again. Any team left can lay a loss on you if you don't bring your A game this time of the year!!!
  6. Good job Lady Panthers!! The bats finally showed a little glimmer of what they were earlier in the year. Defense was solid, and Lauren was sharp as usual. I'm really glad that the base running debacle didn't end up costing us at the end. I can't remember ever seeing a team get doubled up on 1st and 2nd without the batter putting the ball in play. The jobs not over you still have to focus on friday to reach your goal. Hats off to Gibbs, they played hard and made it close at the end scoring 2 in the top of the 7th and getting the tying run to the plate. Good luck on friday, hopefully we'll see you again in the 'Boro'!!
  7. Good news is the rain has stopped!!! Bad news is it's in the 50's with a pretty good breeze and cloudy!!! If the sun don't come on pretty darn quick it ain't getting any where near the mid to upper 60's like the weatherman said!!!! You Gibb's folks better bring a jacket, if they play. This mountain can still get awfully chilly this time of the year.
  8. Steady rain falling in Crossville right now. Radar doesn't show much behind it. I guess it depends on what time Gibbs has to leave if it's called or not.
  9. Probably a coin toss. Stone's bats have mysteriously gone cold. If their bats don't wake up, it'll be hard to continue to advance from this point on!
  10. Wouldn't they have to be out of school to have been there 4 straight years. Sounds like a red-shirt senior or something to me?
  11. Kingston seems to be coming on strong right now! They're scoring a lot of runs and Stone's bats have been quiet all tourney! If that trend continues, it'l be interesting. Not sure what happened prior to the hit that scored the run in the first game, but charging an error to the 2nd basemen on that hit would certainly be some tough scoring. She gave an excellent effort on a very hard hit ball, she barely got a glove on it and it was eventually fielded by the center-fielder. Doesn't give you much of an incentive to layout for balls if you're gonna get an error on that play!!
  12. He said, she said, who cares. Stone won the regular season district that's a fact. It is also a fact that every team in the district still has a chance to win the district tourney. It is obviously something to be proud of by Stone's players and fans, as I would think it would be for any other team in the district if they had won. I'm also sure that virtually every team in the district has suffered through some kind of controversy through the year. Be it injuries or what. It's a sign of a good team to be able to overcome these things and compete at a high level. I think most players on the Stone and Kingston (as well as all the other teams in the district) teams respect each other and get along fine. In fact many have played with each other on summer teams before. It appears, as usually is the case, that there are some adults that want to try to play the games on this board rather than the field! I doubt there are any Stone players on here bragging on any posts. There maybe some parents and fans that are making posts of congratulations. If anyone from Kingston or CCHS is offended by this I'm sorry, but we are just as proud of our teams accomplishments as you are your teams. It is also a fact that if everyone will just be patient that this think will play itself out on the field. Based on what I'm reading it looks like all the teams from our district will have their hands full as they advance on through the regions. Regardless of who it is. Good luck to all the district teams in the tourney and may the best teams advance.
  13. Is this a senior only camp? Or open to any high school players?
  14. Saw GPS play a couple of games at Soddy over the weekend. No doubt in my mind they were the best team there. Probably the most complete team I've seen all year.
