I told "my better half" see #7...In about 5 years...He will be playing on Sundays...Just a junior...Keiwone Malone....Think I will call him "The Trojan Killer"...Last year it was Ken Torry throwing to him...This year it was somebody else...It doesn''t matter....OVER THROW him...He will run it down and catch it....THROW IT UP IN A CROWD...He will jump over everybody and make the catch..Time and time again we would have the qb wrapped up and he would just CHUNK it...and the thing about it...most of the time Malone was covered by Justin Whitfield who happens to be the 200 meter state champ.....#28 is a hoss and #6 reminds me of Maurice Jones-Drew..and BTW...Malone also kicks extra points....Good luck Mitchell....and GO TROJANS...You guys had a great year...

I think I am gonna nickname Keiwone Malone..."THE TROJAN KILLER"...because that is TWO years in a row he has KILLED us..... That kid is THE REAL DEAL...and he is only a Junior...That first td catch he made was great...And it seemed like EVERY TIME WE WOULD HAVE THE QUARTERBACK in our grasp...he would just throw it as far as he could and #7 would PLUCK it out of the sky....That kid is the real deal...If he gets a hand on it...He is gonna catch it...Or jump UP over everybody and catch it...And a couple of times he caught it when Whitfield was on him....And Whitfield is the 200 Meter state champion...and this kid STILL CAUGHT the ball.....I told my better half....As we sat in the freezing weather watching the Trojans play a GREAT GAME....."In about 5 years if something doesn't happen...You will see this kid on Sundays.....HE IS THAT GOOD....and congratulations on Mitchell's coaching staff for making ( it looked to me) adjustments in the second half on defense...Click was KILLING them on the ground the first half....They came out and held Dyersburg to ONE first down..and that was in the final 2:25 before they scored the last TD...That #28 is only a sophmore and #6 looks like Maurice Jones-Drew and CAN FLY....Mitchell should have a really good team the next few years..and BTW...Malone was even kicking extra points.... Congratulations to the Trojans...Only one kid ( Click) played offense this year...We went with a two platoon system...and nobody really gave us a shot ...Except us....Take a bow kids....You lost 7 games in 3 years...Not two shabby.....Like MG said...You set the bar high for the class of 2010.....GO TROJANS!...

I talked to my old offensive line coach at Dyersburg who has been with Gaddis for years....They coached at Tullahoma...and won with Antonio London and Steve Matthews...and Oak Ridge...Jerry Colquitt, Shawn Summers and the late Richard Howard...And he says..."IF THEY KEEP THEIR HEADS ON STRAIGHT" This is the most special team that I have ever been apart of....They can be THAT GOOD.....London and Matthews both played in the NFL...He swears by Teague and Stevenson....it is gonna take a GREAT effort for somebody to beat this bunch...GO PATRIOTS!...

That is one thing you can say about these kids...MANNERS....Yes sir...NO sir....Everyone I have ever spoken to...Yes sir, No, sir....I know one of the kids...well (he is 28 years old now and has two kids) and he was the first class to play for Counce ALL 3 years.....The first two years they were what 3-7...Then the third year they were undefeated went all the way to the semi-finals and got beat by Nashville Pearl-Cohn...48-0 with a team that had future AA and Future All-pro John Henderson, Reggie Ridley, Buck Fitzgerald, who all went to UT and Santonio Beard who went to Alabama.....He told me "SRV..He instilled a discipline, mental toughness, that by the time we were Seniors..."WE HAD THE MINDSET THAT WE WEREN"T GONNA LOSE"...Haywood, Covington, JCM..Those teams that had DRILLED us in the past...WE HAD NO FEAR OF THEM...WE KNEW WE COULD BEAT THEM......After 3 years of Coach Counce...By the time our Senior Year rolled around...We KNEW what was expected of us...and we did it...And the one thing he STILL TELLS ME TODAY WAS...You better KNOW YOUR ROLE...And your place on the totem pole"...IF we went somewhere on the bus...NO BS'ing and Cutting up...If we stopped to eat...You BETTER SAY THANK YOU AND YES MAM AND NO MAM...You better not be showing out or cutting up while you were there....You got back on the bus...Went out and played the game...DIDN"T TALK TRASH...and after it was over..You repeated the same thing...We were a MACHINE.... Had a lady whose son plays now....Tell me.."Coach Counce told me...We will have discipline..When I say..BE ON TIME...THEY WILL BE ON TIME...They will behave in the classroom as well as off the field..."Just because they are football players for DHS doesn't give them special priveliges...Matter of fact...It was just the opposite...If they play football for DHS..They have a certain standard to hold to...ON AND OFF THE FIELD...Hey..There isn't much of that left.... And for what it is worth..."The slacks, dress shirts and ties the day of the game"...I LOVE IT...I THINK IT IS WONDERFUL...Counce is a great teacher...Like I said before "OLD SCHOOL TO THE BONE" ALL BUSINESS..... I know I post a lot about COUNCE getting the most out of his kids...But you have to realize...I deal with Lake County fans, Dyer County fans, Union City Fans, Obion Central Fans...etc EVER DAY...and that is why I say...HE MAKES FOOTBALL PLAYERS....Go watch a practice...THEN GO WATCH ONE OF HIS....No comparison.....He gets EVERYTHING HE CAN GET OUT OF HIS KIDS....We have a very talented Mitchell team coming into Dyersburg Friday night.. Typical Mitchell...BIG, STRONG AND FAST....Who is gonna win?..Wish I knew.......THAT IS WHY THEY PLAY THE GAME ON THE FIELD...NOT ON PAPER... GO TROJANS!..

I meant in NO WAY to slam the kids...They are hard workers...DISCIPLINED...WELL COACHED AND FUNDAMENTALLY SOUND....I AM PROUD OF THESE KIDS....When I say "He takes Lemons and makes Lemonade"...I mean he takes a kid who might be SHORT on athletic ability....and through HARD WORK...LISTENING...EXECUTION...and WILLING TO PUT OUT AND SACRIFICE....makes them a GOOD FOOTBALL PLAYER...HENCE a GOOD FOOTBALL TEAM....He GETS EVERYTHING HE CAN OUT OF HIS KIDS is ALL THAT I AM SAYING....He gets EVERY BIT OF ABILITY AND EFFORT THAT HE CAN GET OUT OF THEM....WE DON"T HAVE A TEAM FULL OF PRIMA DONNAS AT DHS...Those PRIMA DONNA TYPES couldn't play for Counce...They couldn't handle the DISCIPLINE...."HE GETS THE MOST OUT OF HIS PLAYERS"...How many other coaches can say that?..

My thing is...DYERSBURG LOST EVERYBODY from last year....The most talented team in Dyersburg history probably....One starter (Click) who played last year or maybe Whitfield ( two) who played ANY OFFENSE...and going to this TWO platoon system..was gonna take some getting used to....and all I could hear was HOW DOWN Dyersburg was gonna be this year...This was gonna be the year that COUNCE would have to EARN HIS MONEY because EVERYBODY was gone...No Rashad, No Tyler, No Beau, etc, etc.. THOSE KIDS WERE THREE YEAR STARTERS...He will have to start over...We "WILL SEE WHAT KIND OF COACH COUNCE IS"...Heard it from more than one at the beginning of the season...and I said..."LIKE HIM..DON"T LIKE HIM"...The man gets the most out of his talent....He gets those kids to BELIEVE in him and they will RUN THROUGH A BRICK WALL FOR HIM.....and still everybody said...DYERSBURG LOST TOO MUCH ....They won't make the playoffs...Yet here we are two field goals away from being undefeated....and one of only 8 teams left in AAA playing for it all....Somebody must be doing something right...

Well...Let's just put it this way....HOW MANY D-1 PROSPECTS have we seen ( Not counting the playoffs) during the regular season....Do you know HOW GOOD YOU HAVE TO BE TO PLAY D-1 Football.....How many D-1 prospects does region 7AAA put out every year?....Brownsville sends a few...Ramon Foster from Ripley is playing at UT....Watch all the teams in 7AAA and see who plays major college ball the next few years....THEY WILL BE FEW AND FAR BETWEEN...

No disrespect taken...But it proves MY POINT...When people say...OH..COUNCE HAS HAD SO MUCH TALENT...HE JUST ROLLS OUT THE BALL...Right...How many of these kids will play at the next level?..Be honest...They know that...Think they don't use that ...US AGAINST THE WORLD theme a lot...THEY ARE A TEAM...THEY ARE A GREAT TEAM...There is NO "I" in TEAM....Sure they have some a few pretty good players...But nobody that is gonna play D-1....And hey...That is no slap in the face...That David Lipscomb team that came down here two years ago and won 42-10 without throwing a pass...DIDN"T PUT ONE PLAYER IN DIV-1 football....Last year's team didn't either...AND THEY WON THE STATE CHAMPIONSHIP!...Now they have Zach Rogers and he is THE REAL DEAL and UT bound...as he is the younger brother of UT WR Austin Rogers.....WE HAVE A GREAT PROGRAM....WE HAVE GREAT KIDS....But the fact is...We went 30 year between D-1 Signees...Jimmy Noonan to UT back in 1976....JT Beasley to Missouri back in 2007....So yeah we have had a few kids play at UT-Martin...Lambuth, Rhodes.and even Austin Peay...But for 30 years...WE HAVEN"T BEEN EXACTLY A HOT BED FOR RECRUITERS...and don't see it now...Proud of these kids...It just shows what hard work..GREAT coaching....BEING IN SHAPE...Well disciplined and MENTALLY TOUGH will do....WENT YOU LOOK OUT ON THE FIELD BEFORE A GAME AND YOU SEE A HUGE DIFFERENCE IN SIZE AND SPEED.....AND THE ADVANTAGE IS USUALLY THE OTHER"S TEAM'S FAVOR...Then YOU LOOK AT THE SCOREBOARD AND DYERSBURG HAS WON....Then that is the mark of a PROGRAM...A GREAT PROGRAM...I JUST WISH THAT WE COULD PUT A GOLD BALL IN THAT TROPHY CASE ONE DAY...As Coach Counce says..."KEEP CHOPPING WOOD"...And maybe we will get there...GO TROJANS!.... I guess it just goes back to the days when it was YEARS before we ever beat teams like Haywood or Covington...and even though we lost to them this year...We had QUITE a streak going....PROUD OF THIS BUNCH...YOU HAVE COME FURTHER THAN ANYBODY WOULD EVER IMAGINED.....GO TROJANS!..

Talked in length today to SOMEONE WHO WAS ON THE FIELD AT.. the Haywood/Mitchell game....Said.."Haywood came out FLAT and with NO EMOTION....Then went on to say..."I DON"T SEE HOW SHEFFIELD BEAT MITCHELL""....."Big and Fast...Have a small back who can fly... a big back who can RUN OVER YOU OR AROUND YOU"...and surprisingly...."THEY DIDN"T THROW THE BALL ALL OVER THE PLACE"....and they have PRETTY GOOD COACHING.....Dyerburg will HAVE their hands full....NEVER COUNT OUT THE BLACK AND GOLD!....GO TROJANS!...

You and I talked off-line several times last year.....Did I like Darren's offense?..No..Did I think he was doomed if he lost with Logan Parker?..Yes...Do I think Darren ever THREW A GAME or LAUGHED IN THE KIDS FACES or some of this other stupid stuff I read on here...NO.NO.NO.NO....I know one thing..Dyersburg fans can be grateful for....Xavier Taylor broke Danny Jeffries 1968 (UT) and Edward Parrish 1973 (Vandy) for most TD's in a season...I believe the kid has OVER 30 tds right now...and is just a Junior... Xavier got into Counce's doghouse before he left..( I hope I am telling this right) and quit...when Bowling came in...He PERSONALLY told me...He told Xavier.."You need to be a part of something"...You ARE TOO GOOD TO BE JUST HANGING IN THE HALLWAYS....Bowling told me he wasn't going to let "SNOOK" play...if he came back..He could dress but couldn't play...Told me that Snook was being such a TEAM PLAYER he was going to have to go back on his word and let him play....Wonder where Dyersburg would be now if Xavier Taylor were still in the hallways?...Bowling is a fine man...and a good coach...A strong Discipinarian he is not...But he is a good man..a good coach..and he will win at UC..Good luck to him and a speedy recovery to Coach Kennedy...

Good Luck to Coach Bowling...I think he is a FINE man and a GOOD coach...He just came into a NO-WIN situation at Dyersburg last year....Anything short of a State Title would have been considered a failure in the eyes of most....Good Luck at Union City..and hope Coach Kennedy is doing better...He is a fine man also....

James Counce does MORE WITH LESS than any coach I have ever seen....Dyersburg lost a TON of starters from last year's team....The most TALENTED team in Dyersburg history IMO....Only ONE kid had played offense this year...and that was Click...Maybe Whitfield...going with a TWO platoon system...we are 2 games away from playing for the state title...Win next week...Win the next week and it's on to "THE BORO"...I know us "TROJAN FANS" catch alot of flak on here...But hey....Athlete for athlete...we aren't supposed to be on the field with most of these teams...Sorry..that's the way it is....WE MIGHT GET OUR BUTTS handed to us by an explosive Memphis Mitchell team....but hey...who would have laid odds that Counce would have THIS INEXPERINCED bunch this far.....It would be SCARY if the man had some SERIOUS talent...because not knocking the kids...but size wise we look like a freaking junior high team..against most teams we play..DISCIPLINED, FUNDAMENTALLY SOUND and MENTALLY TOUGH.....and I think we played tonight without two starting offensive linemen who were out with concussions....Got to give it to the man...."HE GETS ALL THE MILEAGE HE CAN OUT OF THAT TIRE".... Jason had to come out..he was HURT..just saying..I know we have MORE quarterbacks on the roster...We have other TB's on the team other than Taylor too...But going into the playoffs...Who would you FEEL BETTER about being in the lineup....Click and Taylor...Or the Second stringers...That is just common sense...You ALWAYS want your best players on the field..and No offense towards Brown, Beasley or Alford..but Click makes things happen...He is OLDER...Played for Counce before and is a Senior....No doubt that whomever takes the reins next year will do fine...FWIW...Click is supposedly Fine and will be ready to go against Sheffield...GO TROJANS!...

My question is: HOW BAD IS CLICK"S ANKLE HURT?....noticed him playing db ( His speed MAKES A DIFFERENCE) was hoping MAN..HOPE HE DOESN"T GET HURT..Then he bangs that ankle...noticed they were wrapping it in the end zone before the start of the second half...He spent the rest of the night handing off the "SNOOK" which didn't seem like a bad idea...One thing Snook is gonna have to learn...HE CAN"T TURN AND TRY TO REVERSE HIS FIELD AGAINST THESE MEMPHIS TEAMS....They may be UNDISCIPLINED...BUT THEY ARE FAST....Snook had good yardage...But you are NOT GOING TO GET TO THE CORNER or REVERSE YOUR FIELD AND OUT-RUN alot of these Memphis teams..TOO FAST....Noticed that Chase Brown came in the last few minutes of the last quarter.....Click is a FOOTBALL player...and you can tell ...HE IS A DIFFERENCE MAKER at the Qb spot...hope he is OK...Trezvant had some SPEED ....That #11 is just a freshman..or that is what the roster said....Man, I would LOVE TO SEE JAMES COUNCE with those kind of athletes....That qb was 6-3 and had a cannon...Defense played good though...can't wait to get some PAYBACK on Sheffield......GO TROJANS...

Now we travel to Sheffield and Haywood gets Mitchell..AGAIN....GO TROJANS!...

How bad is CLICK injured?...Noticed him playing DB when he got his ankle hurt right before halftime...He was FAVORING it the rest of the game..and did nothing but hand off to "SNOOK"...which wasn't a bad thing as the Mitchell crowd was SCREAMING...."DON"T LET #5 GET THE BALL"!!....Mitchell had a LOT OF ATHLETES and a LOT OF SPEED....That #11 according to the roster is just a FRESHMAN...He is gonna be something....Was hoping DC would pull one out...Would have loved to have played them again...but it wasn't meant to be....Instead...LOOK OUT SHEFFIELD ...Here come the Trojans...and BTW....Seems like their was MORE LIFE in the DYERSBURG STANDS TONIGHT....They were ACTUALLY cheering the DEFENSE on....I am telling you...Teams FEED off that!....GO TROJANS!...

Bet my paycheck they will be BIG, FAST AND ATHLETIC...and if there qb can throw the ball ACCURATELY......Then the Dyersburg pass defense is in for a LONG DAY...We just don't cover/defend the pass very well at all....GO TROJANS!...

You might ask MG or somebody else...But I left with about a minute to go in the game and some of the Trezvant Fans were telling myself and another fan about HOW BIG AND FAST MITCHELL WAS....I remember the HEAD COACH cussing at the officals like a sailor...and WAS TOLD ( DIDN"T SEE IT) that when Logan Parker took a knee one of the Trezvant players came across and gave him a cheap shot...Asked some parents today..."DID WE STORM THE FIELD AFTER THE TREZVANT GAME?..They said...NO..We have never stormed the field...Why would be storm the field?...But between the Trezvant coach mouthing...I heard there liked to have been a BAD ALTERCATION at the gate leading off the field between the teams and a few of the coaches.....Just what I REMEMBER... Didn't Haywood Change Qb's since the start of the season?...The playoffs are an ENTIRELY new season....ANYTHING can happen...Everybody is UNDEFEATED or 0-0 at this point....If they are clicking who knows?...Do they get Mitchell or is that Crockett County who gets Mitchell?...Haywood is LOADED year in and year out with talent...and just like 2006...They had a losing record during the regular season but took Dyerburg to the quarterfinals in a nail biter...That was the team that had Alabama signee Alex Watkins...Who knows how far they can go....It is just WHO IS PEAKING at the right time...Tell you what...It is a shame Covington didn't get in...They were PEAKING at the right time...unfortunately it happened to be the WRONG time...
