It was just a "chess match" between the "Coaches Counce" & Coach Pratt as to who played or attempted to play the "trump card" ! I have it on good account that there ARE some "REAL CHOCTAWS" stepping into that "LEADERSHIP ROLE", but there are some that (I will NOT call names out ........... YET) that don't seem to either grasp the magnitude of the situation and still maintain that TEAM is spelled with an "I" ! WRONG ! Pull it together D.C. ! Every game past is just that ......... PAST ! I'm hearing way too much about the "I Syndrome" ! Injuries are a "fact of life" in the game of football. Hat's off to Peyton & (as I understand it) Maclin playing "through" injuries. This Ol' Choctaw remembers well the old "Glory Days" of OCCHS (course, most of my memories go back to the "dark ages" in the '70's) ! One of the biggest games I EVER remember was played @ Troy in '73 OCCHS undefeated & unscored on in 8 games ! We (D.C.) changed both of those stats, but the Rebels were a force to be reckoned with Y'all will be back ! Just gotta keep on supportin' yout team & keep the kids playin' with all they have in 'em !

Kody leaves it ALL on the field as well ! Great job Kody King ! I know that there are others that are worthy of mention, but guys you gotta do it as a TEAM ! Seems like leadership may be "evolving" ! You are CORRECT ! "Style Points" have no bearing on the TSSAA Playoff system ! Congrats to to the " 'Cats" on hangin tough & kudos to the Chargers for "comin to play" ! I'd venture to say that about 95 % of the "7 3A" followers would have lost if bettin' the "spread" ! That's what makes Tennnessee High School Football what it IS ! Especially in Region 7 3A !

I think many had given up on Haywood late in regulation & the "rumor got out that Covington won. I kept up with it on the "scoreboard" & some of our locals got the report from a source that I would rather not reveal (but you might guess partner) that Covington had won it ! It must have been a "barn burner" to say the least !

Stop the "roller coaster" & play ball guys ! I'm proud for you & the "W" but gonna have to "tighten up" the "D" if you wanna make a run ! Gotta put the "foot to the firewall" for FORTY - EIGHT MINUTES ! Gotta come out "guns a blazin" & "finish strong" ! This one was way closer than I thought it should have been. Make no mistake! Beau is getting his playing time ! They didn't broadcast on the web last week either. I'm not sure about this weekend @ Shorter College (Ga), but if you can't make it to Jackson the week following, you can catch the Eagles on the web @ eplus6tv.com. It's the next best thing to being there (all I have right now, I flew home for one) !

All three are representing Dyersburg / Dyer County well. All are getting a good deal of plyaing time. Both B.A. & Rashad scored their first college TD's against UVA-Wise. Rashad took an int. to the house & B.A. took one in from short yardage. Beau is playing a lot as well.

My Dad coached over twenty five @ D.C, I played my four years there , my sister played four years of basketball,my son played four years of football (baseball three), my daughter played four years of basketball, two nephews played football four each (one played baseball too), one neice played four years of softball & four years of basketball. So IF i'm a "bandwagon jumper", I jumped on about forty six years ago ! HATE on "bigwooten" NOT ONE Choctaw supporter cares !!!!!!!!!

I JUST "EDITED THIS POST" & I guess made it "lengthy again ! # 1 .......... 10 - 2 & UNDEFEATED in the regular season (Region 73A) is NEVER a fluke ! # 2 .......... The defense in the playoff game was short of the leading tackler in the "regular season matchup" @ Haywood where he had double digit tackles & a tackle for loss that killed Haywood's momentum in a close game.Now, one player may not make all the difference, but "Big Mo" is a funny thing ! A big play here, a big play there. Someone that team is used to having around as a "spark" ! emotional letdown of losing an impact player. # 3 .......... Intangibles ............ things that you may or may not know about, seem to be lacking @ D.C. this year. Last years Senior Class ( Justin Scott, Jared Hunter, Blake Oliver, Kyle King, Adam Clark, Eric Benard, Cory Windle & Davis had a"refuse to Lose" Attitude that was "contagious" ! There was a cohesiveness that bonded the whole team together. Leadership was there ( by example ). I don't know if it is there this year or not ! SENIORS...... CALL THIS A CHALLENGE & STEP UP ! It still is RIGHT IN FRONT OF YOU ! # 4 .......... Who cares about Middle School ? YOU HAVE TO BE KIDDING ME ! Every High School Coach, fan / supporter that has interest in the long term success of their favorite High Schoolteam ! Really now,how "bone headed" of a question was that ? If you like the NFL .......... consider NCAA as "Middle School" If you like NCAA .......... consider High School as "Middle School" ! Middle School is the "lifeline" for you High School ! If you give a D@^^n about your High School Program You had BETTER care ! #5 ........... Success "breeds" EXPECTATION" ! ...... What ????? Do you think that every parent, fan / supporter , player is gonna go around with the attitude that "Oh my ! we're gonna be sorry as h3!! this year" ! Sure the success of last season "raised the bar" ! D.C. ain't gonna "sneak up on anybodyn!............Well now they just might ! Especially if every team has the attitude as "bigwooten" !
