  1. Leadreship doesn't HAVE to come from Senior's alone ! Juniors ................ Sophomores .......... doesn't matter to me ! SOMEBODY STEP UP & TAKE CHARGE OF YOUR FOOTBALL TEAM ! You guys HAVE to hold one another ACCOUNTABLE ! The rest of this season is in y'all's hands ! SENIORS !!!! for many, this will be your last HURRAH ! Don't be caught up in a "WHAT IF" for your "future memories" of your Senior YEAR ! Turn this train around ! Be a WHIRLWIND instead of a downward SPIRAL !
  2. The remainder of this season will boil down to A T T I T U D E ! Football is a very physical game, but the MENTAL side IMHO is MORE important ! Leadreship needs to evolve from ............ well it really doesn't matter @ this point ! It's plainly & simply time for SOMEBODY / SOME TEAM MEMBERS TO STEP UP !
  3. Make no mistake, there is no lack of talent @ D.C. I haven't seen a game this year (not by choice), but this seems like a big question "mindset" & preparing for each game like it waas your last. I know the kids...... I know the level of talent & ABSOLUTELY no disrespect to Chester County, but this Choctaw loss was a lack of respect for your opponent ......... looking a week ahead ........... lack of focus (Homecoming maybe?). I don't have to see a game like this one to figure that out. Now understand this ...... I'm not saying by any means that Chester County wasn't capable, nor am I disputing the "any given Friday night in Tennessee" theory, but there is no way that this game should have been as dominated from the Chester County side of the scoreboard as it was. NO WAY it should have been the "proverbial blowout" that it was.Worst case scenario it should have been a "nail biter" type loss for D.C. You can't just show up Choctaws & think the opposition is going to roll over just because you're a "heavy favorite" in all the papers. Seems to me you might have taken a lesson from USC vs Oregon State. The remainder of your season depends solely on how you approach EACH game, not the rest of the season "collectively". Best y"all "get the train back on the track" (and it will not be an "easy task") this week against Haywood. Y'all got to "PUMP UP THE VOLUME" ! Last year it was y'all that got no respect & shook everybody up. NOW you're playin with a"bullseye" on your back ................. problem is that from a mental perspective you're lettin' your opponents be "on target.I may ruffle a few feathers with this post, BUT I KNOW y'all are better than this ! You gotta STRAP UP & PLAY FOOTBALL ! I don't care WHO you're playin ! You guys have to hold one another ACCOUNTABLE & PLAY FOOTBALL ! Last year is just that LAST YEAR ! Time for somebody (Seniors ? this is your last shot....... anyone?) to step up & be a LEADER ! REFUSE TO LOSE .......... MOVE FORWARD & finish this season the way it should be ! Last year NOBODY gave y'all a dog's chance against Haywood & LIKELY (no PROBABLY) they AIN'T this Friday coming up ! SO you can take a positive away from the Chester County "thumpin' ", that is the fact that the "favorite doesn't always get it done ! This one is up to you GUYS & HOW BIG IS YOUR WANT TO !
  4. Roller coaster ! Best that any team be faced one @ a time no matter whether it be Haywood. Dyersburg or "Podunk Holler" .......... if they ain't wearin' the same color of jersey as you ............ "open up a can of whoop @$$ " !!!!!!!!!!!!!! This seems to me (even though I haven't seen a game this year) to be ATTITUDE............... STATE OF MIND ! I just can't figure what's up no shortage of talent ! Football IS physical, but the mentality / mindset is just as IF NOT MORE important.
  5. What the +$#% ! Did the wheels fall off or what !
  6. Case in point (Re: any given night) .......................... USC & Oregon State BEAVERS !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! A two loss team (losses to Pen State? (I think) & Stanford) takes the # 1 Ranked USC Trojans (for what polls are worth) "to the wood shed" ! I LOVE IT !!!! (Could be because I hate USC & Pete Carrol Ain't my favorite NCAA coach either. Seems to think he is a bit "above the rest" ! I LOVE IT ! Pac 10....... Big 10.................... just can't hang with the parity of the SEC !
  7. Sounds like it was a "nail biter" ! /ohmy.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":o" border="0" alt="ohmy.gif" /> Any stats or info ?
  8. I sure would've like to have "bought some stock" in David a few years back ! lol ! It is too high to buy now ! D.C's been cashin' in on Coach Whittle's efforts for several years now ! He sends a very solid fundamental freshman class to D.C. every year !
  9. Due to my supersticious nature, I will not make a prediction on the Trojans game. I have a pick but will not reveal it cause I never have made a prediction on this forum BUT as much as I'd like to see the Vols win, I don't know if they have enough to stop Tebo & company ! Nothing I'd rather see more though ! I'll say this.......if the Vols take out the Gators .............. I don't think it'll be a low scoring affair .....MORE LIKELY A "TRACK MEET" ! Also it will be a VERY ORANGE "SPORTSCENTER" weekend on ESPN !
  10. Glad to hear that Peyton is "ready to go" ! No doubt that Dye was thrown "into a bath of fire" but as you said .... no better experience! Senior leadership from Peyton should be a big plus !
  11. I don't know about you, but that makes David Whittle's stock go up IMO ! He keeps gettin' it done ! Way to go Mustangs ! Congrats David !
  12. Senior season ............ "heart of a lion" .............. selfless, team player without a doubt. I will not question "pop 13" & the family's or the "Doc's" decision (cause it's none of my business) ! But IF his ACL is torn, to what percentage of his pre injury capabilities will this "brace" provide him ? Man, I know Peyton wants to play "WINNERS /CHAMPIONS" always do ! I ain't gonna "kick around the empty can" but the long term ramifications are a huge question in my opinion. All the best to Peyton AND his family in settling in on this decision (sounds a lot like it's been made). I only hope it all works out for the best for HIM. My concern is that football IS a contact sport & if he is on the field, opposing teams are not gonna say "Oh this kid's got an injury ....... lets not put to much pressure on the QB tonight" ! Not saying they will gun for him (intentionally hurt him) but they wil bring pressure & the things he may have to do in order to evade that pressure are what concerns me re: the knee. Peyton, I admire yout desire & courage I just hope that you, "pop13" & all that have any bearing ultimately with this decision keep your futurebest interests FIRST & FOREMOST ! GOOD LUCK YOUNG MAN ! Whatever your ultimate decision is ! I'll be in your corner no matter what !
  13. Sounds like a "good fit" Reckon maybe Western State has a flag football team ? Maybe future 02 could make the "scout team" & get a little satisfaction ! Heck he might even think Western State is an "institution of higher learning" ! /roflol.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":roflol:" border="0" alt="roflol.gif" /> Bet they could teach him a few things there ! Yankees, you oughtta remeber this "piece of work" from last year ! He just kinda stayed in the shadows this year til D.C. fell to 1 - 2 with "key injuries" to a couple of many talented kids that they have ! Didn't have much to say because he was still chokin' on "crow from last year ! I won't respond to this "bonehead" anymore. If I said what I wanted to I'd be "banned" from Coach T ! But I'd sure like to teach him some manners ! Heaven forbid that he really is any part of the "future" !
  14. zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzZZ......... (snoring) ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ (peacfully sleeping & not responding to "bonehead" comments from the future 02)
  15. Don't know why I had it it mind that he was a Junior .......... that does compound the WANT TO ! Still as you reemphasized my point , this year (Senior or not) Long vs short term. You just have to make a decision then on the welfare of the young man that stands to deal with the consequences ! That would be a very tough decision to make, but I'm sorry, I'd lean toward "leadreship from the sideline" ! "Braces" are not a guarantee ! I know that you & I usually think a lot alike & likeley as not you may think like I do on this one. BUT ........ ultimately, it's Peyton, his parent's & the "Doc's" decision. Certainly not a position I'd want to be in ! Cause you know who I'm talkin' about would have been a "handful" if his injury hadn't come late in the year last year. It cost him some opportunities, but as you & I have talked about on the phone, he wound up in a "good fit". By the way they won big today & he had a great game ! Got some touches (ran hard), made a one handed catch (thrown behind him) for extra yardage after the catch for a first down & blocked .......... well ........ like you know he would ! took out two on an ISO play. Anyway back to Peyton.........pop13 man I'm not envious to be in your positions . I Peyton & you guys the best in this decision but consider seven games (or more given playoffs) vs the future. I don't know if Peyton has had any "looks", but these kids don't have to go D-1 to continue to play & get a college education. Anyhow, we all know that Peyton is a "Champion", competitor & a fine young man so whatever decision ya'll come to, I wish Peyton & y'all the best !
  16. "Pop" I am real sorry, but it just ain't in me to "go easy on the future 02" ! Wish you could see some of his "bashin' " from last year ! I AM done responding to any thing that this "bone head" posts on here, But I'll be D@^^d if I'll let at least one go without response ! He is a "basher" & lives to put down our Choctaws ! I can't stand for that ! BUT I am done with his posts. Likely won't read 'em & dang sure won't respond ! His opinions / posts are no more than a prime example of his bias /ignorance ! (Thus the battle of wits with an unarmed person" comment). Cause that's what it is. He thinks of himself as an "ESPN Analyst" I think /roflol.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":roflol:" border="0" alt="roflol.gif" /> I hope Petyon does well, but take it from an old school "been there..... done that" In the long term don't let "die hard" or desire become more important than the long term when it comes to Peyton's injury. I was raised "Orange" from 6 years old, but I would put a lot of thought into the future vs consequences (brace or no brace). I wish Peyton nothing but the best cause like StevieRay says, I'v never heard a bad word directed toward his behavior or manners. Kudos for you raising a young man that I know you are proud of ! Just think about "braces vs chances" and ask yourself AND Peyton if one year is worth his future endeavors ! Best of luck & I hope no matter what the decision, that it turns out to be in PEYTON's best interest ! Aslo re: the Gazette, Smitty ain't one to fabricate any information about a kids condition OR put anything in print that isn't solid information. Yes he's a Trojan fan & well .................. so am I unless they are playing anything from "Chinese Checkers" to Football against My CHOCTAWS ! BUT thefuture02 well now there's a prime example of a HATER & as I said I have NO MORE TIME FOR HIM !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Again, give Peyton my best & think long & strong about the long term potential consequences ! I know y'all will make the right decision in the end. Don't be influenced by a single season. Peyton's a Junior (corrrect ???) Being 100% his Senior year would be my concern. JMHO & just an "Ol Choctaw's" thoughts ! Ultimately it's yout decision.
  17. Just when I thought it was safe to get back on here again ............ "UP JUMPS THE DEVIL" ! The future 02 returns !!!!!!!!!!!!!! with his D.C. BASHIN' ! My kid playing last year has nothing to do with my statement re: last year not being a "fluke" ! A 10 - 2 season is not a fluke ! PERIOD ! Was it all Coach Renshaw ? NO. Was it all the talent .... NO. A lot of it was attitude & intangibles ! Any 10 - 2 season is a culmination of hard work & a sense of T E A M ! The upperclassmen on the '08 Choctaw team are gonna have to step up & take control of their own destiny & exhibit some leadership ! If Peyton is done for the season, Dylan is gonna have to " grow up fast" & be a leader as well. Injuries happen they aren't good .... but they do happen ! That's just a fact & the nature of the game. It does demoralize the team when there are high expectations & key personnel end up not able to play. Football is a team sport & it's time for someone to step up & take on the leadership role & "right the ship" ! Also your math is all out of whack ! How do you figure that D.C. could even play 13 games with only three wins ! I wish I could say that it was good to see you on the "boards" again .............. but you're still the same Choctaw bashin' @#$*$#@% you always were ! Also your "look good losing or look bad winning" ......... still has me scratchin' my head ! ???????? BUT what else would I expect from the likes of you ! I guess all that "CROW" you had to eat last year left a bad taste in your mouth or maybe deranged you somewhat ! I am officially done talkin' to your CHOCTAW BASHIN' @$* now ! It's just too hard having a battle of wits with an unarmed person !
  18. I ain't got a "dog in in this fight" but I do have a comment. 10 - 2 is no fluke ! Especially when you go undefeated in Region 7- 3A play which many consider to be one of the most competitive Regions in 3-A. Most likely those saying "fluke" are a good ol case of "sour grapes". I'm behind a screen name but there are several lurkiin' around that know who I am. Injuries happen .............. happened to my young un last year late in the season. I don't beleive for one minute that Adam Renshaw would press a kid to play that was injured nor do I beleive that any Sports Medicine "Doc" would allow it ! Do you know Coach Renshaw ? H311 mine would have liked to put cleats in his cast last year for the "Haywood Round 2" playoff game that's the way kids are. But I'm sorry I don't have Adam Renshaw putting ego or "proving something" above a young mans future or physical well being. Again I would re-emphasize that 10 - 2 in 7 - 3A is in no way a fluke ! Just a D@^^n good football team !
  19. I DID NOT say the "boys" (I assume you are speaking of players) made any death threats ! I simply stated the facts ! I guarantee you that's what they are ! As for "boys" (if you aren't talkin about players), well you live a very uniformed life if you don't think that "boys" are capable death threats & even worse following them through ! I'd be happy to give you the police officer's name, but I can't send you a PM and I won't post it publicly ! I assure you it is true. It was the first time I ever watched a High School footbal game under police protection. Yep ! That's the truth too.................. police officers were within literally feet of all my family after we were made aware of the "threat". Was it overblown ? Maybe but if you are a "proudmama" I guarantee you if the things that went on the entire week @ DHS (home coming festivities????) would have upset you ! Mine has graduated & is playing college ball so I won't have to be quite as involved with the "week 9 insanity" ! If you think I'm fabricating the "death threat" ask Stevie Ray or '64 ! They both no the scoop on this. I NEVER said that it came from the players. However, the atmosphere @ DHS that "fateful week" (and OH how I enjoyed the outcome after some of the homecoming antics) was a contributing factor no matter where the threat came from. It actually came from a "MySpace" & D'burg police & DHS administration were aware of it. No "tall tales" here lady ! "Just the facts ma'am just the facts" (maybe you remember "Dragnet"). So until YOU are certain of the facts don't be judgemental of this ol' Choctaw ! I don't need to live in a fantasy world. Things got out of hand @ DHS that week & it may or may not have been the difference.I assure you all it did was motivate D.C. ! Also, I can assure you that none of it would have been so demonstrative had the "Coaches Counce" been there (pleading your side / allegiance to them). BUT DO NOT call me a liar her or anywhere else unless you have the facts to back it up. I can assure you the officer was beside my kid every time he was on the sideline & he DID have on his "Kevlar" ! Told me himself that it was the first time he had ever had to wear Kevlar @ a football game. Best you get your facts straight & don't imply that I ever said that it was any part of the Trojan football team that posed / posted the threat ! I support the Trojans (yes even after all that) except in any contest against D.C. I don't care if it's "underwater bb stacking" then I'm for the "ORANGE" ! As for Bowling .......... whether or not he wanted to go to UC .......................whether or not the "Coaches Counce" had chosen to return or not, he was a "Dead Man Walking" (as far as any support from Trojan faithful) after the loss to D.C. I heard entirely too much & none of it was in support of Coach Bowling. If the Presidential Election had been last year after the D.C. game, political issues & candidates would have come in at a distant second so far as Dyersburg interests went. I don't know whether or not he always planned / wanted to go to U.C. but after one loss to an eventual Region 7- 3A Champion & things that were said, I'd have wanted to go anywhere !
  20. Glad to hear it ! Hate he's gonna miss this week, but WOW it sure could have been worse ! Give Peyton my best ! B.A. was askin' about him & this is my only source of information since I'm stuck up here in the "buckeye state" ! They HATE it when I tell 'em that they can't hang with the SEC ! /roflol.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":roflol:" border="0" alt="roflol.gif" /> The truth hurts I guess ! /roflol.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":roflol:" border="0" alt="roflol.gif" /> I got to rub in the "LSU THRASHIN'" from last year on a big time "Buckeye Fan" just today ! Man I enjoyed that ! /thumb[1].gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":thumb:" border="0" alt="thumb[1].gif" /> GOOO CHOCTAWS !!!!!!!!!!
  21. What's the "skinny" on Peyton ? Anybody heard ?
  22. Make that FOUR ! I was fortunate enough to be there & it was agame for the ages ! The Choctaws wanted it more.......... Dyersburg made the mistake of picking it for "Homecoming" (always a distraction) My son had death threats that went so far as having a police officer (in full body armor) by his side whenever he wasn't on the field. The whole week was a circus ! No way Bowling or any coach that has won as many games & done so much with so little threw the game ! FACT ........... Dyer County WON the game without any help from a coach OR a player contributing from the Dyersburg side of the field ! Jared Hunter was a "Mad Man" when he got his hands on the ball. I don't recall Logan playing much defense ! Heck I beleive Bowling could have brought home a "Gold Ball" & y'all would've still railroaded him out of town just because D.C. won !The plays were made & the score is a FINAL ................. Anybody who even remotely thinks that the game was a "ringer" is having severe flash backs from some halucenogenics they did back in the '70's ! Best those of you living in the past get on board with the "Coaches Counce" & support a young Trojan Team & forget about last year ! DONE ............. OVERWITH !!! I'm sure that TSSAA ain't gonna open up an investigation based on the B.S. that has gone around on this thread ! I have good friends that are "TRUE TROJAN FANS" ! (Stevie Ray & 64 especially) Those that are posting this "conspiracy theory" ..................... I question your "true loyalty" ! Sounds more like "sour grapes" to me ! Best you focus your energies on NorthSide & turning the corner with what can be a successful season yet ! Get OVER IT !
  23. The Trojans are in a "gut check week" much like D.C. was last week. I think they will respond to the challenge. (they will be chellenged all week by the "Coaches Counce"................ I'd bet on that!). D.C. has to keep the momentum. Football season is a bit of a "roller coaster ride" for young players. They have to stay focused & every opponent has their own threat to success. Stronger teams challenge, weaker teams are easily overlooked (resulting in an upset) ! The key is FOCUS & playing the schedule out (the proverbial) "One game @ a time" ! Should be an interesting week for both Dyersburg & D.C.
  24. I really beleive that one was a wake up call for D.C. last year, much like Trenton Peabody way back in'73 when we brought the only "Gold Ball" back to any school in Dyer County. The Trenton "fiasco" came in week 10 as opposed to last years loss, but the results were similar, though D.C. fell short thanks to a great Haywood effort in Round 2 last year. I really beleive it was a "turnaround" / "wake up call". BUT ................. "payback" would be BIG TIME on my mind if I were a returning Choctaw ! We all know what "payback" IS !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! /wink.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=";)" border="0" alt="wink.gif" /> I'm not the coach, but ..... the bulliten board would be filled with last year's newspaper clippings & I'd take @ least one look @ the old film just as a reminder of what was taken (or allowed to be taken from) the future memories of the Chocs High School careers. Man I can tell you ..................... they don't go away no matter how many years ! Memories ......... both good & bad never leave you if your heart is in the "game" ! If there are any players reading this stuff, take it from an "Ol' Choctaw" who has definitely been there & done that ! LEAVE IT ALL ON THE FIELD GUYS, cause you don't get "do- overs" in football or life ! GOOO CHOCTAWS !!!!!!!!
  25. I might have to leave just a few details out ! /roflol.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":roflol:" border="0" alt="roflol.gif" /> But me & "ol' StevieRay" could spin some yarns !
