  1. I agree both teams showed alot of class. /wink.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=";)" border="0" alt="wink.gif" />
  2. I was looking at the schedule I had. Thanks
  3. Thurs.- Bradley-Bear Classic Friday- Walker Valley- Bear Classic Sat.-Bear Classic- Maybe Monday- The Dammers- Home Tues.-Christian Heritage -SR night
  4. IMHO whoever advances will run into trouble with Notre Dame ,Hixon and Marion.
  5. What is the point? None of the three have proved themselves to be any better than the other! They all had 1 or 2 quality wins out of district but no one played that tough of a non-district schedule. At this point it does not matter the 5AA tourney is what counts!
  6. I agree I was questioning the coach's decision myself but Davis did a great job. I think the District Tournament will be up for grabs it will depend on which team makes the routine plays and gets the most out of their starting pitchers. I still say whoever advances will run into trouble with Notre Dame ,Hixon and Marion. As for the champagne I don't care for it myself I would rather enjoy a cold one while watching a good baseball game. All I can say about the cheers is that its like Bear Bryant once told one of his football player's who celebrated after he scored, " son act like you have been there before" but I think alot of that spilled over from basketball but I do not agree with it no matter where it came from. As I said earlier be humble when you win and show class when you lose! Good to hear from you! Good luck today with the Cougars.
  7. Where oh where is my little mexican and canadian buddy's?? I guess their computers are on the blink. /blink.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="blink.gif" /> LOL!! Just messing with ya!
  8. If your an adult then why are you on here bashing a kid (Davis) for his performance. Shaw done a great job against Meigs and Polk and I said so the next day, but let Polk win a game that some of you Central fans said couldn't be done and you don't even have the class to acknowledge it! I didn't know Central fielded a 7 & 8 year old team! Being a better tournament team is a bunch of crap, you guys lose one game to Polk and your on hear; "were a better tournament team anyway", "Polk won on errors", "1 good game against Central in 4 years does not mean anything". All teams and players have mental errors and sometimes they get you beat but that's baseball right. As for the sun it shined on Central monday and Polk on tuesday very similar games. BTW you know what happend to Butch & Sundance in the end of the movie don't you? /wink.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=";)" border="0" alt="wink.gif" />
  9. I have to disagree I think Hart done the right thing. Aderhold was struggling with his curveball and Polk was sitting on his fastball. Like I have said before with these top three teams, knock the starting pitchers out of the game and you will likely win because they lack depth. If anyone has a advantage it would be Polk, Tyler Davis has done a great job especially against Meigs and Central but if he is not effective lookout. I also think Polk will have another edge in the tourney with the return of Will Phillips, if he can throw strikes his return will give them 3 solid starting pitchers with Davis and Qualls in relief. /wink.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=";)" border="0" alt="wink.gif" />
  10. If I remember correctly Central scored the winning run after an error by Polk's shortstop in the 5th and a mental error in the 6th by the 3rd basemen on the sac bunt opened the door for a couple more runs. I was there and Central did not hand it to Polk it was 1-1 going into the 5th. In return maybe you should also practice some instead of reading this board, maybe learning to catch routine fly's in the outfield and some fungo's to 3rd and who knows you guy's might be 1st or 2nd instead of 3rd! As for the bragging I agree, be humble when you win and have class when you lose!

    Stats

Scouts look at several things mostly its word of mouth by other Coaches and some stats as stated by Rabble. I promise if your a prospect you will be seen and then the scout will grade you on a scale consisting of several things; arm strength, speed, body composition, fielding, hitting, attitude etc. If you rate high enough they will be back, if you continue to impress them they will refer you to their boss and they will take a look and it continues from there. You can hide alot of things in stats but you can't hide ability and attitude when they see you play. /wink.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=";)" border="0" alt="wink.gif" />
  12. It's hard to talk with both hands around your throat!! LOL! /smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" /> Sorry there Mexican and Canadian. That was just too easy I had to say it.
  13. Do you have anymore stats I seem to be out at the moment, you see I ate at Castillos yesterday and ....Oh no not again I'll be right back.... Whew! Boy was that a good one! Now could you send those stats over and please copy them off on something soft? Lets see Central and their crushing offense 6 hits in 10 innings only 2 off of Davis in 6 2/3 innings. BTW don't talk about Hiwassee Dam anymore you guys are going to play Copper Basin for the second time I believe and the Dammers have beat Basin three times this year so lets not talk about the non-district schedules anymore.LOL! Had to throw a punch there Mexican, Sorry! In all honesty it happened just like I figured these three teams are equal and they played hard every time. Tough luck on getting third place both Central and Polk had a couple of bad games (Sweetwater,Boyd) that caused this to go to the final game but it set up a great finale. Congrats to both teams on a hard fought effort. Congrats to Meigs coming in first! /wink.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=";)" border="0" alt="wink.gif" />
  14. Like I have said that's baseball. The error killed Polk in the 5th with two outs that really changed the momentum of the game. I felt like Central was down a little but that error was a big spark for those guys and the 6th was awful, I think Central got really motivated and inspired when Davis came in to pitch. Why Coach Triplett made that move still puzzles me, Bean was doing a good job but with Bean lacking a little mental toughness I guess he felt like he needed to go get him. The sac bunt was played terrible by Polk but Central done a great job of execution and they deserved the win. Polk needs to stay focused for todays game. Whatever happens these games between Central, Meigs and Polk have been some great games and all the players on these teams need to be proud of how hard they fought and played every game.
  15. I said Meigs, Polk, and Central were the best three teams in the district and are pretty equal. Yes they are a weak hitting team they do not score alot of runs against good pitching, Shaw shut them down and so did Bean and Davis. Talent wise, Meigs has good athletes year in and year out you can't dispute that. Polk has not had much talent up until the last couple of years in baseball that is. Being a good athlete does not make you a great hitter. However, Meigs has had good hitters in the past and maybe this team is also good but I have seen them play four times and their performances has not been very good. I will say Garland is the best pitcher in the district IMHO. As for football I forgot they made it in 2004 and lost in the first round to Goodpasture and they have not made it to the second round since 2000, Polk has made it to the second round twice (2001,2002) I believe. It does not matter I could care less about football. Polk or Meigs will never win the state in football for obvious reasons. I can tell what pains you people and that is someone saying that they don't think Meigs is that great of a team, that is my opinion neither you or MustangSally is going to change it. I have had far more people agree than disagree including other coaches and umpires that have seen them play!!
  16. Ah yes they made it in 2004 but lost in the first round to Goodpasture. If you look at talent Meigs had better talent than anyone around in baseball for long time because they have such a good little league program, I have said that before. As for football I am talking about the last 5 years. I bet if you compared the teams you would see that they had more talent than you thought, you do not go to the state without any talent.
  17. Inferior talent! What Meigs teams have you been watching? Meigs has had more talent in the last 8 or 9 years than anyone around especially in baseball. I base my fact on years of baseball experience and baseball knowledge and you base yours on an English class. As for Meigs coache's, what have they done when they had very little or no talent? Nothing!! You see what kind of coach you are if you win with no talent and Baker has had plenty over the years. Winning the district outright is one thing but winning it by another team losing is another and yes everyone was saying Meigs should easily win it. As for going straight through Polk in baseball that has not been such an accomplishment until the last two years and football I don't think you want to compare records in football. Polk has beat Meigs 5 out of the last 6 years. In the playoffs Meigs has been twice 2001,2006 and lost in the 1st round both times. I can say the district is terrible because that is a fact and if you know any baseball whatsoever you will know this is true. Polk, Meigs and Centrals record is 33-7 in the district and only two of those seven losses was to other teams in the district (Boyd, Sweetwater). The other six teams record is 18-43 in the district so you can't tell me this is a tough district if you do, I will say you need a psychiatric evaluation. As I have said earlier Central, Meigs and Polk are very evenly matched, I never said Polk was better than anyone and when I say Meigs is overrated it's based on facts and what I have seen. You act like I have said they are the worst team in the world and should not even be on the field with Central or Polk. Meigs has a good team but average when you look at the big picture or compare them to other AA baseball powerhouses and I will say the same about Polk.
  18. Lets see everyone before the season was saying Meigs will win the district and Central and Polk are playing for 2nd and 3rd, which could very well happen depending on what happens today and tomorrow. I am not basing it on what anyone has said, I am basing it on what I have seen. I have criticized Polk in other posts as well when people boasted as to how good they were. I am just stating the facts and if you can't handle it don't get on here. As for credentials show me yours or tell me how I am wrong about my assessment of teams (Meigs). Even if Meigs, Polk or Central win the district it doesn't reflect on how good they really are because the competition in 5AA is very bad. Sure maybe one team has played a little better non-district schedule but not much. Now, tell me I'm wrong.
  19. Please tell me you do not believe that! These two are average pitchers, Garland being the best of the two and probably the best in this district. There is alot better pitching in other A and AA districts, 5AA does not have anyone that I would even consider being a top pitcher in the state.
  20. This means what??? It's Baseball anything can happen just like Meigs scoring a run in the 7th at Central to tie it up with 2 outs and their #8 and #9 hitters up, or like you guys just beating Sequoyah 1-0 or Polk letting Sweetwater come back from a 7-0 deficit to beat them in an extra inning. Every team no matter what sport has bad games and good ones. If you can match teams up on strength of schedules, won/loss records and stats then know exactly who will win, you need to go to Vegas. Remember Vegas wasn't built on people winning!!
  21. I never said Polk was contenders for the state title. Like I have said so many times this district is not very good and yes Meigs is overrated. If Garland and Roberts don't hold opposing teams to 1 or 2 runs there is a good chance that they will lose. Meigs does not have a very strong hitting team in fact their pretty weak from top to bottom. The three best hitters they have can be pitched too easily. /wink.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=";)" border="0" alt="wink.gif" />
  22. If you have not seen Polk play then you don't need to comment! I HAVE seen nearly all the teams in the district play and after seeing Polk vs Meigs and Central vs Meigs . I would say Polk and Central are very close but Polk has a little better hitting in the bottom half of the lineup and as mentioned earlier Meigs has to be the most overrated team in the district their hitting is pretty bad and their fielding is not great either! As for stats you are claiming to be better than Polk by comparing stats from their games but yet you guys only beat Sequoyah by 1 run or was that your JV team playing? Polks stats and Centrals are virtually the same against this pitiful district and their losses were close games as was Centrals so you can't say Centrals stats are better. Those stats are good for one thing and that is to wipe with. Don't cast stones if you live in a glass house. Central's schedule is equal to Polk's, you guys don't exactly play any powerhouse teams. I hope Shaw can pitch both games against Polk since you have such confidence in him. Remember baseball is a funny game any team can beat another on any given day no matter how much better one is over the other!!
  23. My hats off to Garland and Shaw. I love to see hard nosed pitchers that come right after you and will battle! Congrats to Central! I must say that was one great game on both sides.
  24. That is one bet I hope I lose but your right it will be hard to get past Goodpasture. I still think Notre Dame will be tough in the end.
  25. Good one. I like it!! /tongue.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":P" border="0" alt="tongue.gif" />
