Speed better mean something. Trousdale County lives and dies by it. They spread you out, sling the ball to a speedster and you better look out. Alcoa's speed is why they are so successful. The truth is Westmoreland, Smith County, York, Upperman, Jackson and Cannon does not have the speed as the likes of Alcoa or Trousdale County or Tyner etc. And I will say this, Smith County always looks more impressive in uniform than the other teams in our Region. Westmoreland first of all, since our players are normally not very big, depend upon good coaching, strong players and speed. Look at our quaterback in 06, he wasn't big at all. He was the Region MVP because he was developed by Coach Kelly, he had desire, heart and quickness. He wasn't a naturally talented passer he had to be developed. He did not have the body, or the physical appearance of the Smith County quaterback of 06. So does the offseason speed an weight program matter? You bet it does.
