  1. I was at the same game and I don't remember Coach D putting in alot of reserves unless it was in the final minutes of the fourth, he played all of his starters during the third quarter. Listening to him on the radio will make you want to throw up talking about how sick it is that they have that much talent and how good they are. I will tell you where you need to improve and thats discipline, this will be MC's demise. I promise Grundy will be alot better than ER. ER was very small on the O-line and could not block period. As for beating Polk we will see but you had better concentrate on Grundy and Howard and Polk had better concentrate on Howard.
  2. I really didn't mean to imply that you were stupid, sorry if you took it that way. Yes I'll be there I will always support Matt, Ryan and all of the Polk players and I look forward to watching them their senior year. I always enjoy being around Ryan when he is with Matt, what a fun kid to joke and cut up with he has a great personality. For next year I think the seniors hitting has to come around for them to be successful next year this could be their biggest downfall. This year really hurt them not having a true hitter in the lineup no one was really a true threat to hurt opposing teams with their bat. Tanner had some pop but he is not a homerun hitter and Hammonds could not hit a curveball, so opposing pitchers went right after everyone without fear of giving up a home run. We will see. Next years freshman will make or break the season I think.
  3. I have nothing else to say about this year its over. Congrats to all the players on a great year and also some very good kids. As for next year Ole Ball Coach why would you as a coach want Ryan out from behind the plate, that is stupid and ridiculous. I know why but Ryan makes the team tremendously better with his defensive skills behind the plate. I'd have loved to had a catcher like him when I was coaching. As for young kids coming up you and I both know that this will be the best group of freshman they have had, they are better at this age than the juniors were when they were freshman. Your looking at possibly three freshman starting next year if you play the best at each position.
  4. badgirl, When Central beat us at home the question came up in the dugout about moving "the new SS" to short and "the other SS" to the outfield by the assistant coach and the statistician who BTW knows a thing or two about baseball but the reply from the coach was "what will that do to his confidence" this is a fact!! So you have a coach that is more worried about one players confidence than his whole team. Makes you wonder what motives the coach has. I have a good idea if you want to hear it! Here is something funny the other night I can count 4 errors right off the top of my head in the Central game and there could have been one or two more. How many do you have in your notes? Three were pickoff attempts and the other was a dropped ball in left but in the paper yesterday Polk was only charged with two. How about this when Polk beat Central the ball that was hit with bases loaded in right field was counted as a triple and the batter was credited with three RBI's. The right fielder drifted to the right on the fly and the ball hit his glove and he dropped the ball. Central charged it an error which is the right call but we gave him a hit. The coach started a kid that has only been a reliever the whole season and done a great job doing just that but here is the problem. Tracy Beard who was his #2 pitcher all year had only pitched one inning against Central in the first game of the tourney on Monday has an ERA of 1.76 in 43 innings pitched. So you have your no. 2 pitcher throw only one inning in the district tourney and his ERA is 1.76. badgirl, you wonder why people criticize the coach and question the stats. My question is why isn't anyone else questioning this besides OldScout? /unsure.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="unsure.gif" />
  5. My nephew is a great kid and in my unbiased opinion is the best infielder Polk has other than Beard at 1st. I have played and coached at the college and high school level what experience do you have? I asked my nephew ( the new starting ss) about them and they have never seen any fielding stats. Lets check errors vs attempts! I would like to see them if you have a copy you can e-mail them to me but like OldScout said those records are not kept. I know MY nephew has never seen them in fact one week he went from 12 stolen bases to 10. The next week he stole 4 bases but when the averages and stats came out he went back up to only 12 go figure. I can give you alot more of this type B.S.! Those stats are padded period!! As for you saying something about my nephew, who is your son maybe we could check his stats (errors vs attempts) what's his name or what position does he play? I'll make it easy on you you can send his name to me in a private message so no one will see it. Come on lets hear it BADGIRL I am waiting!! /unsure.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="unsure.gif" />
  6. It was a pleasure talking baseball with you as always. Tell Mark I said good luck! I'll be there this evening about 5:00 so save me a spot.
  7. I can't argue with that you got me. /tongue.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":P" border="0" alt="tongue.gif" />
  8. What do you expect he has some good genetics!! LOL! /tongue.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":P" border="0" alt="tongue.gif" />
  9. I played at Roane State from 1988-1991 was red shirted in 1990 for shoulder surgery. George Ogilvie was the head coach and he left after my last year. I had the pleasure of having Coach Works in class, he is definately a character I really liked him and he knows baseball but he's no coach. Coach Ogilvie was a good coach, the program and field really suffered when he left. I hope Coach Lane will bring the program back to where it used to be. Most people don't realize it but Works more less took the job to keep the program from folding. If I remember correctly an assistant coach from University of Kentucky was going to take over after Ogilvie but in the spring of 1991 the state had a big budget crunch and they froze all hireing and spending so someone had to take it that was already employed by the school. Heres one of several stories I could tell. Every once and awhile during practice Coach Works would come out and throw BP. He was throwing and someone hit a line drive back up the middle through the L-screen and he barely got a glove on it but it knocked out one of his teeth he just shook it off called the hitter a S.O.B. and then drilled him in the ribs the next pitch and kept on throwing.f9d! What a guy!
  10. I agree 100%. These BA's are a joke. When I played you had a few kids in whole district hitting in the .400's but 7 out of 9 on one team give me a break and you might have one to hit over .500 but they were D1 or pro prospects and played in a much tougher district. The MVP is a wonderful kid but he's made a bunch of errors and he's also made some good plays as well but very inconsistent for a SS. He would have been alot better outfielder in fact last year he played outfield at the end of the year. I think he is All-District but not MVP. I would say the MVP would have to be someone who pitches and plays the field. The only way you could give it to a position player would be for them to be great all-around; fielding, hitting, and have power.
  11. Yes, but not at the warehouse. Why you need some?
  12. I didn't think Crackerhead pitched but that was still funny. I can't wait to see his dad.
  13. Chicken wing & garbage can, now that is funny right there.
  14. Wonder which kid on the team is his? My nephew plays and yes Moses was cussing him so there you go.
  15. Lets look at this Central choked at Meigs and nearly choked at home by walking the number 8 and 9 hitters with 2 outs. Another thing Meigs is not a good hitting team as a matter of fact they are terrible including the D1 player Roberts which is also a joke. Chargers nondistrict opponents is funny also I quess getting beat made them better. As far as advancing, the Chargers still have to place in the tourney the regular season means nothing. Polk is a much better hitting team than Meigs end of story!!
  16. Could not have said it any better myself Scout. On another note I am going to have to say Tyler Roberts is the most overrated player in this area. He may be a good guy but he is not a DIV-I prospect by no means I guess this is why he's going to Memphis. The guy can't hardly hit good pitching in this district which is average! Not taking anything from Shaw who done a great job but Meigs can't hit, they acted like they had never seen a curveball especially on the inside corner. Roberts was jammed on a 78 MPH fastball right down the middle and his first hit was a blooper over Colemans head which was an outside pitch that he tried to pull. Good greif has baseball gotten that bad. I think he needs to go to a JR College and test the waters there because he will get eaten alive even at Memphis.
  17. There is a difference, An academic scholarship doesn't cost the coach one of his athletic scholarships. It's like getting a player for free. The same if a player qualified as a financial hardship. This is why college coaches ask what your family's income is and what you made on the ACT before they consider giving out an athletic scholarship. So they don't have to waste money on you. So most coaches welcome any "free" player and if they never play who cares, it doesn't cost them anything!! It's common sense!! Now see the difference./tongue.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":P" border="0" alt="tongue.gif" /> I must admit he done a great job shoving it up Meigs rear end, he may have a future after all. Good job Polk!
  18. Tyler Roberts would probably be the best of all those mentioned. Tyler Davis a good reliever! hah! He signed a academic scholarship not an athletic scholarship big difference. The best players on Polks team is Allen, Tanner Davis, Beard and Qualls. Bean could be but he has feathers on his legs when the going gets tough. As for the rest I agree but if you are prone to boot the ball around how can you be good?
  19. Does anyone have the results of this game?
  20. You have got to be kiddin me the reliever is a joke. I heard he got a scholarship to Roane State. The coach up there needs one of two things and that is either to raise his teams GPA or someone to keep stats! This guy could not throw the cat out of the house, he's already given up as many runs as dysentery this season!! 1-2-3 in the district will be............Meigs, ? and ? then Coach Harts mighty chargers will be in a dog fight for 5th or 6th. /blink.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="blink.gif" />
