  1. very interesting. you are more clever than i thought. however, no one has ever accused me of mixing words or straddling fences........so, you can think and say whatever you want to,- you're entitled. but it's my opinion that you are probably an ex-player or current player who is upset about playing time, some disciplinary action, or because the allen iverson look isn't in style on the creek......get over it. [Edited by hablogarbaje on 11-21-02 4:41P]
  2. a good mark for you. you are exactly right,- true fans are rangers all the way. i don't think any of us are guilty of straddling the fence when it comes to our love of unaka. and as for you, caca, what is your problem? have you even seen the rangers or any of the other teams mentioned on this thread play? i doubt it. you are just trying to rile everyone on the creek up,- and you may get your wish....
  3. i think it's disturbing,- all this nonsense. heck, reading this thread you would think that hip-hop was they key to roundball success........"yes, coach phil jackson, could you explain a bit of the triangle offense to me?" "well, hablo, it really hinges on moving and screening without the ball, and playing the right eminem song before the game...." come on!! and to the guy who suggested that "last resort" by papa roach was a good i say this: the song is about SUICIDE!! one, how could that (along with 99% of the other crap mentioned on here) ever be appropriate at a school function. and two, what in the world is motivating about it? children frighten me sometimes.
  4. welcome back, rolltide. i was wandering if you were hibernating or if you had went to the woods to live deliberately or just what was going on. keeping things nice and stirred up can get to be a chore sometimes, so i am definately glad to see you return to the coacht ranks. i look forward to many good posts and even more good arguments..... you are right, this season is definitely hard to call. i think it will be late february before we know anything....it will be an exciting year with possibly the most parity we have seen a quite sometime, and that is saying quite a bit because we had great parity last year.... crap, i'm starting to sound like lee corso or something.....
  5. i have been to murfreesboro and i (as i know most if not all of you have) have seen the caliber of basketball that is played in different parts of the state. in many cases it may be superior, although i am very hesitant to believe this...but i'll tell you what it truly is: it is just plain different! i know that we have rivalries all across the state, i would be an idiot to say otherwise. however, when you get up here in our little corner of the state where it is relatively isolated the rivalry tends to get so personal and heated beyond imagination...it's almost like a fight between brothers, or even families....hatfields and mccoys, even. and it not just the teams that have these rivalries, or the rivalries themselves that i am speaking of,- it's just the atmosphere that surrounds high school basketball in this area... there seems to be a familiarity with area programs that transcends communities, county lines, and class divisions (A, AA, AAA). i have been several other places and i don't seem to sense this feeling there, although i could just be because i am not from there. perhaps this is the way that it is everywhere,- in which case everyone across the state is fortunate,- but i just don't think so. i think one factor for this is that most coaches in this area are from this area,- they played here and experienced the same rivalry, etc. that they now help to propagate. this tradition enhances the overall environment of the local game. we are such a closed, close-knit community here that i have a hard time imagining it being just this way in other places. i am sure that they have aspects that we can't relate to here, the sheer magnitude of crowds and facilities, etc. and i'm sure that if someone from down in the state reads this they'll take it the wrong way and let me have it. but it just wouldn't be like me to care,- i've already stepped out of character enough for one day. i just wanted to share some non-controversial thoughts, for what they are worth. they may not have made much sense, i hope that is not the case. if anyone cares to respond to this i would love to know what you think about all this. and to anyone from other parts of the state: no offense,- i may even be wrong. just wanted to express my feelings as a native of east tn. if this is a wasted post then at least our humble little thread stays near the top for another day (coacht gets a little slow on the weekends, you know.)
  6. at ease, tdog, some folks are gonna get worked up and say things (at least if i have anything to do with it,- i love to keep things stirred) just because it is human nature to seek potent rebuttle. they may or may not even know what they are talking about (probably not). so don't let them get you all worked up just yet. save some energy cause i have a feeling that it's about to get downright hot in kitchen........... and as for people booing us.....i could care less. like i've said before, i can stand to pull for area teams in playoffs and things when it doesn't affect the rangers....but that's it.....i know people from all over,- hampton, happy valley, cloudland, etc.,- and many are good friends. however, we have an understanding when it comes to ball,- we hate each other and that is okay because it is SUPPOSED to be that way. you may respect another team (or maybe not) and that is one thing that is okay,- but some sort of local camaraderie? how nauseating! there are good folks in cloudland and there are good folks in hampton but i will say openly that i do NOT pull for them in anyway (with the aforementioned exception of playoff situations where unaka is not at stake) and i don't feel that anyone should find that offensive in the least. conversely, i don't expect any of them to pull for unaka, nor do i even want them to.....people who like you are accustomed to whipping your tail!- surely you folks know this.......i can see that tdog does because he mentioned taking it as a compliment. another team's favor cannot help you win games and probably means you have not BEEN winning games. however, another team's hatred, although it shouldn't affect a team either way, can be a spark that starts a fire (maybe, maybe not), but more importantly it almost always means that you HAVE BEEN winning games, especially against that particular team. i wish the rangers were the most hated team in america! hey, it's roundball time and you just gotta love it...
  7. help me out here, folks. i don't think anyone wants to see our thread slip helplessly to the obscurity of the second page. how disgraceful. work with me here. therefore, i am hereby rescuing it and i trust that tdog, blaize, et. al. will keep it up there where it belongs from now until tip-off (and of course i'll have a few things to say, too, especially when provoked). so lets see if we can accomplish this. as for blaize's predictions, i would have to say this: how truly altruistic. cloudland wins district and unaka wins region, both go to state to be eliminated simultaneously? oh i see, so we can all be winners. maybe we could ride down there together? split the cost. how nice. well if were gonna make a prediction i would have to forecast that ultimately someone's gotta win and someone's gotta lose,-and since we are bitter enemies, never pulling for one another until someone is at the house,- let's just go ahead and get ready to rumble right now.........i love a good argument and i'm tired of the delay......so think and say what you want and lets get started right now. i'm tired of everyone acting like we're all in this thing together. if the rangers ever start to care about anyone besides the rangers i'll find someone else to follow. my point is this: when one team is eliminated and the other is still playing, then lets support one another like feuding brothers. in the mean time, please just hate us. it makes things so much easier and much more fun. in other words, i doubt that the administration wants you to announce any games or anything like that,- you are a lander! besides, i doubt that they view announcing as a priority. and oh yeah, if you see rolltide, tell him to get a pot of coffee and get his butt back on here, this silent crap has went on long enough. good luck to cloudland in the pigskin playoffs, though. read my post carefully and you'll find that i don't contradict myself here.
  8. "wow" is about all i can say to that. i never make predictions about outcomes of games or seasons,- i've stated that many times,- but i do find these rankings hard to believe. not because i think unaka is a cinch for numero uno,- i think this campaign will be hotly contested. but nestled all warm and cozy right in between the huskies and clinch? come on now. but hey that's fine. i'm sure that things like this can and will serve as motivation for our youthful squad. i hope they see this. by the way, whose rankings were these? just curious. i mean i was kind of wondering if they actually watch (or even like) basketball or if this was more of a pick-five, lotto style pick. appreciate any help on this i can get. like i said, just curious. wow.
  9. you, my friend, are a moron. when the other guy posted that clinch would win it all, he was being sarcastic in order to point out that anyone can claim any team will win, but the proof is in the playing. so you missed it the first time,- fine. but then he points out to you that he was being sarcastic and you still did not get the point! wow! you are in bad shape my man. hey, if you just don't know what sarcasm means then say so. people will respect you more for being honest. an honest, sincere moron is much more tolerable than a know-it-all moron. piece...oops. i mean peace... come back tomorrow and we'll have a discussion on irony.
  10. krich and i have spoken have shared message boards before, and i don't suppose i mind it now. he was just asking some innocents questions. i didn't realize that chad lewis wasn't playing this year either. it hadn't come up and i hadn't asked. krich is a football guy. so if i didn't even realize it, i don't think he would have either. lighten up, mi amigo. this whole "basketball knowledge" binge you've been on is tiring. es solamente caca del toro. relax.
  11. have you heard this, too, luvsball? i have never heard anything about this, but it's interesting. i know you said that you do not care, but i was just wondering.
  12. why would i want to work as a child psychologist, are you having trouble again? i've got a perfectly good job here. yep... coachT pays me a nickel for every moron that i provoke to respond. so at the rate you're going you won't have to listen to me much longer because i'll be able to retire soon..... thanks, man. and as for my basketball knowledge,- i do know this: young teams don't need excuses, they need to work harder than everyone else. old hablo has never been a fan of officials. but you don't make excuses for youth,- you go with it, work harder and build. don't hold your breath waiting on me to stay off of a unaka thread because, like i've said before, i am a HUGE ranger fan,- as opposed to you who are more of an.......oh, i don't know,....athletic supporter.... please respond. i have bills to pay.
  13. regardless of any "controversies" that are being discussed here. i know one thing for certain: playing that kind of competition in an "unfriendly" environment will only make us better. we are young and these types of experiences are not something that you want to shelter your boys from, even though you may be angry at times. the more exposure they can get to adverse situations and tough pressure, then the more quickly they will season and begin to gel. they will definitely reap the benefits, even from bad officiating (at least in this stage of the game) because as all of you have to know, we sure don't get an overabundance of top officials at the ronnie snavely complex.....
  14. what are you talking about, warningtrack? you should enlighten us.
  15. it's a fall league!!! none of the school coaches are involved and it is perfectly legal. many schools (at least in this area) do this. it is my understanding that the rules are changed somewhat, too. for example, i think they play two twenty minute halves. do you actually think that unaka's coach and tennessee high's coach would jeopardize their entire programs by doing something that was blatantly illegal only to have it posted online? of course not!!
  16. hablo is ranger fan numero uno. i like them muy mucho. so i make knowing their status my business. yo gusto los rangeros. and as for realgoeagles,- tend your own business. we like our seclusion up here in these beautiful mountains, so please don't give us your rancid, arrogant, crap (that we are so happy not to have here) via the world wide web. if we meet again some time down the road fine. otherwise, keep your BS in antioch and we'll keep ours here.
  17. okay, you're getting there. that was semi-clever. perhaps you could get a live spot on channel 2 in between mr. rogers and masterpiece theater to keep us all posted on this raging fire.
  18. great post!! we know that playing great teams is what makes high school basketball so exciting. we look forward to having you come up because we know that you will come with it, and that you're not the defending state champs by accident. the atmosphere will be awsome that night,- it will definitely be a huge game and i know that both teams are looking forward to it. good luck this season.
  19. they lost by four is what i heard.
  20. they played bristol...oops! my bad, that's tennessee high in layman's terms.... that's east of you, too...moron.
  21. you lost at LMU in the region last year, i.e. "your place..." that means you'll be coming to milligan or wherever this year, i.e. "our place..." this is well in advance of anyone going to m'boro as you call it. so let me recap all this one more time. it goes district tournament first (you're in district 2, but a renowned expert on district 1), then regional (gonna be in our neck of the woods this year, which is EAST of you), then substate (way too complicated, you wouldn't understand), then m'boro (which is short for murfreesboro, not marlboro.) and by the way, will you please come up with something else to call your next message besides "best team in a ball", i need some help separating one pearl of wisdom from another...
  22. well i guess you told him!! and i must say your knowledge of district 1 is astounding, in fact its quite scary. i'm beginning to worry that you know more about it than i do. okay now i'm scared. you probably know more abou it than any of us. you probably even know my social security number. quick, what am i thinking right now? 30 seconds. too late but i'm still scared. nahhh! rock, you take care of district 2 and we'll worry about district 1 up here on our end. even though YOU are the authority on it. and remember, you have to head EAST to get it done this year.
  23. that is great news, deputydog. i am very happy to say "i stand corrected." i have no qualms about doing that. normally i hate being wrong, but in this case i am glad to be wrong. lets just let this issue resolve itself over time,- i feel confident that it will. like i've said many times, there is no reason to deprive the kids of that kind of competition. there truly is a great history behind that rivalry so lets keep it alive.........as for everyone else,-keep posting because this dialogue cannot be anything but good........
  24. i appreciate the input, but that's not what i heard. who know's. no problem.
