  1. Has anyone heard about this job? When will it be filled and who are the applicants.
  2. How can anyone get a gauge on a team that has been a bad as the pioneers have? A couple of messages back someone speaks of players taking off from practice. Truly seems like those pioneers have turned the corner. Just wondering which way they went.
  3. I am sorry, but a decade of the same old song and dance is long enough. They administration keeps saying they want a winner, but their actions over the last 10 years are leading to a deeper hole. Just hate it for the players. I know Rome wasn't built in a day, but you would think something could be accomplished in a positive direction in 3000+ days.
  4. What has happened over the past decade in Warren Co. football is nothing short of a disaster. Now you have a football staff made up of mostly volunteers trying to turn a program around that just when you think it can get any worse it seems to sink deeper. Everyone says nobody wants to come and help, but does the administration really give the program what it needs to be successful. Volunteers are needed, but you need coaches at school that can watch over the whole program. does anyone realize that Warren Co. has only 4 coaches in the whole system(Varsity, freshman, and middle school)that actually work for the school system. The number would be 5 if Tidwell gets reinstated, but as of right now only 4 teacher/coaches in the system. This is very troubling to people who want to see these young men succeed, but watch as the old Warren Co. way ties their hands.
  5. This will never go to trial, it will be pled out coach Tidwell will get a slap on the wrist nothing more in the judical system, but the lingering question is what is going to happen with coach Tidwell. Can he ever be effective at Warren Co. after this. I would say no so everyone just needs to cut ties and move on. This has been a bad nightmare for all parties involved. I know it aint over till its over but the fat lady is humming and Red Ball is just 1 call away.
  6. This just brings us to phase 2 of this process. How can you have a civil suit filed if there is no criminal involvement. Warren Co. is fixing to bite the bullet I am afraid because of a very stupid mistake made by a man in a authority position. Get those pocketbooks ready McVegas because this is just a step in the whole process. Sad but true. I guess 1 week was not good enough. Did anybody really expect this just to go away?
  7. Smith52 hit it right on the head. This is another black eye on the sports program in general and while no amount of typing on this website will fix it a one week suspension just shows how bad this program has really gotten. Responsibility and accountability are 2 words that you teach by example not by talk.[Edited by caffeinefree on 9-3-02 5:36P]
  8. You keep saying that he would never go over the line, but he did he crossed the line. Tidwell had this all planned and it just went wrong? Please I have seen these tirades and some have been directed at me, but to say this was a planned stunt that went wrong. The coach was flat out mad that the team struggled the 1st half and he took out some frustation. If a baseball coach throws a bat in disgust at a call and it strikes a player is he sorry yes, but he threw the bat. Nobody has said he is not sorry, but to say you know him like a brother is a little far-fetched. He has coached 2 games at warren co. not 20 years.
  9. Could not have said it better General. Sad to see people defend an adult hurting one of his own. Coaches are many things, but this is not one of them. Make a stronger statement. 1 week just does not cut it. He has coached 2 games at WCHS. He has screwed 1/2 the time. He has children. What would he think if it was his? That was not coaching Fri. night at halftime.

  11. Was it an accident that he threw the tirade? NO. Did he admittedly throw other things before he threw the helmet? YES. Did he throw more than 1 helmet? YES. If the helmet is thrown from his hand is he responsible? YES. Did he say it was an accident? YES. Did he say he threw the helmet for a reason? YES. If a person drives out of control and injures someone they are responsible eventhough the driver says it was an accident. Coach or no coach he blew it. 1 week doesn't cut it.
  12. Coach Tidwell screwed up big time and his punishment doesnt fit the crime. 1 week, 5 days is just not sufficient. 1 year maybe. He assaulted a player bottom line. Stunts go wrong you take this into account when you do these things. I have been in locker rooms. As a player I have seen these tirades and as a coach have threw more than my fair share. There is a line and Coach Tidwell crossed it. Stand behind him if you believe in him, but do not tell me this would go away if somewhere else. He assaulted a player. If this was in Nashville where I am at they would be writing about this too. Remember Bobby Knight and Woody Hayes. They crossed the line. Coach Tidwell did also. If anything the parents of this young man have stayed under the radar. This young man deserves better and your county should be demanding it.
  13. He hit a player!!!!!!!!! What if it was your son? Read the player's comment. A week suspension is a flat out joke. I have coached before. You look into the players faces and tell their mom's and dad's that you will take care of them. Remember whose their daddy on the sideline. You take on a ton of responsibility when you coach. I will give you the parents are a problem in athletics, but not this time. Name me another incident that has happen like this in the past 2 yrs. How many other games were played Fri. night without this embarrasement. Riverdale suspended players for taking juice that wasn't theirs last week. Warren Co. had a coach throw a object and hit a player who went and received medical attention and got a 1 week suspension. He is the head man of this program. He should be held to a higher degree. No matter what their record is or the past history you win and lose with class and dignity. As a coach you know the responsibilty you take. It is your team and your players look to your for guidance. Every coach has method of motivation few strike athletes. This isnt Varsity Blues this is real life. 1 week is a joke.
  14. Nobody is saying that he isnt sorry, but they fire you now at the college level if your resume isnt correct. Tidwell is getting 1 week of suspension. Great point about player going to college. Should he reconsider the coach hit him with a helmet. Coaches are supposed to lead by example. If you were outside this county looking in you would be calling for this man's job. Don't say that the facts are not on the table. He admitted it. Apologies for bad decision does not make the bad decision go away. He should be a leader. Take the lead coach. Step up and show us that you are truly sorry. I am not saying resign, but 1 week is ridicolous.
  15. People please!!!!!!!!!! I know the man is sorry who wouldnt be, but 1 week of suspension!!!!! Give me a break the man hit a young man with a helmet. A student does that to another student it is zero tolerance 88 out the gate. what kind of message are we sending. I do not live in Mcminnville any more so I am seperated from the incident, but it does look like someone is trying to throw this under the rug. Was it an accident yes, but did it hit the young man yes. 1 week makes no sense. The young man deserves better than that. A terrible example is what this punishment is. What if it was an assistant how would the head man handle it. I just do not think that sorry cuts it when you injure a player.
