  1. After the disaster that has been WC boys basketball this year. I think it is time that WC show coach Montgomery the door. From walking off the floor at Van Buren, throwing his team under the bus as the reason of walking of floor when meeting with TSSAA, losing to a homeschool team, finishing dead last in a weak 5 team district with 8 seniors, the lockerroom aburst where he went over the line by cursing his whole group especially the seniors, losing a play in game in district tourney and all other low points I think he has showed he cant coach the WC type athlete. You could make the excuse years ago about talent level when you played in the boro district 7AAA, but now you compete against talent that is similar to their own. This team took own the attitude of its so-called leader. WC can do better than this as a leader of young men. Look at his overall body of work over the last 3 years and it doesnt get much better. Montgomery needs to be shown the door. Attitude reflects leadership and from early on this year Montgomery has shown no leadership with an attitude that has been suspect at best during his tenure. Change is needed.
  2. Boyd was beat rather easily from what some local Boyd people told me. They were very suprised considering they had beat Sewanee the night before and seemed pretty confident going into the game Friday night. I guess MTCS is better than people believed.
  3. Eagleville won pretty easy. Outscored Forrest every quarter. Some from Cascade has said Boyd has closed the gap between them and the rest of the district. My buddy from Warren County commented to me that the game tonight @ Community vs. Boyd was a 8 or 9 point game(50-41) with 2 minutes left. Hope this is true because I know some of the young men on that Boyd squad and they truly are good young men who have worked their tales off this spring summer and fall to get better.
  4. forrest over cascade by double digits
  5. Hey CubCadet what problems did Parker cause for the Warren County program. Also how is that middle school program over at warren county doing since he was let go. Parker is just another in a long line of coaches that could have to continue to help WC sports, but was told to hit the road because he wasnt inbred like the rest of the flock.
  6. I paid close attention big fellow and I saw Mr. Alexander waive off the invite knowing he played well but didnt receive all tournament considerations. Mr. Oden should have done what his teammate did do which was stay on the sideline. Celebrate with them after the trophy presentation is my opinion but do not go out to midcourt when an act on his part cost him the chance to play. If you theory on the matter was true the whole team should have taken to the court as well as the siegel nation because they had just as much to do with the victory last night as Oden. They cheered. Also I did see Mr. Ramsey encourage Mr. Oden to come on the floor, but didnt see Mr. Oden want to go back to the sidelines quickly. I think he was saying something like I am back to his teammates. That should tell you big fellow how close I was watching the presentation.s
  7. Congrats to siegel on their victory, but can someone why Oden was brought onto the floor why the all tournament selections were announced. I dont think he was picked for the all tourney. I dont think I heard his named announced. So why did he go out and circle with the rest of the all tourney selections. I say Jimmy goodluck this week in the region and the rest of the tournament run however far it goes. I also say since you were ejected and suspended for the 7AAA tournament semis and finals you should have kept your 2 feet on the bench during the whole shooting match including the pregame the actual game and the post game.
  8. I love when someone talks about another mans class then says something so smart about 2 sentences later as the previous poster said. "I let him know during the timeout how classless he was." So you went to the bench and showed how big a man you truly are. Great way to prove your point. That coach you speak of is named Bobby Luna and from experience he has much class. Also from the looks of your record your hopes and dreams of your team beating his teams very unlikely in near future. In the future do what most mature men do in that situation. Take your 27 point not 40 point butt whoopin get in the car and go home. Doesnt look like your team has beat his bunch in the last 4 to 5 years. Dont hold your breath that it happens anytime soon.
  9. I will give anyone out there reading this a free dr. pepper if they can tell me how a coach or assistant coaches gets hired in Warren County. From what I know the system is not created equal. Look me up if you know the answer. Will give it to you at 1st home game in concession stand.
  10. A couple of thread back I said that it was very early in the Pioneers year and that there was no reason to push the panic button. After the first two district games of the year I may be regretting those words. Taking nothing away from White co. last night, but the Pioneers looked awful. They played with no emotion nor did they look like they were ready to play. Hopefully this will turn around in a hurry or this could be a very long harsh winter for the bunch from Warren Co.
  11. Two losses already in the district by a total of 2 points is a very bittersweet pill to swallow with the expectations so high at Lebanon. I guess the Blue Devils are fighting Warren County for the bottom spot in the district early in the year.
  12. Lets give coach Turner more than 5 games before we judge his whole coaching career. The Pioneers havent played the way the have in the previous three years, but guess what they are not going to a new man is running the show. His style seems totally different, but let the wins and losses judge his system. 5 games just isnt enough time. As for nutnbutnet comment and about how good Cleveland is what a step out. Take #15 (Little) away from that squad and they just plain stink. What bench did you see. Only had 9 players total and from the 4 on the bench plus a quarter you might had enough money to make a phone call. Fundamentally they were horrible. Turned it over left and right and defensively for a team with so much so called quickness they couldnt seem to stop dribble penetration. Granted I only watched them play once, but nutnbutnet is way off talking about how the pioneers just made a game of it. Cleveland from my point of view overrated. Remember Cleveland beat Riverdale with 3 of Riverdale's key players still in football.
  13. Did they not go beyond the county's borders the last couple of times when a coach for football neeeded to be hired. I love reading this stuff on this board. Everyone including myself has all the answers. Hire outside, hire inside, fire the ad, bring new assistants, let the volunteers of the program run it, bring the middle school staff, and so on and so on. This football program if you want to call it that is on life support and has been for over a decade. The numbers don't lie and since losing is as contagious as winning is this isnt going to be fixed with duct tape and staples. This team is getting killed by forty plus every week and has been for many years. Teams are not going to come back to us. Cookeville, Tullahoma, and Lincoln Co. aint going to get 40 points worse. So when you as well as I bring all these round table ideas that are going to save the day for the mighty program ask yourself how many points is that going to make up. Tidwell's decision helped today. Only 37 more points to ago.
  14. Kellraiser what is your take on this since the resignation. You were very supportive last year when the chips where against tidwell. Now since he has officially left the building tell us what your real feelings are. I think he just sped up the process because there was no way he was coming back next year.
  15. I am going to go out on a limb, but mine is a big oak tree. Coach Tidwell is history after this season. No stability in this situation right now. Discipline is a problem that he cant resolve hear mainly because of his actions last year. The man has to be walking on eggshells after the helmet throwing incident and that has carried over. The administration will take a look and see the best direction will be to cut ties with Tidwell and bring someone in who has some ties to the young men that could be making a difference if they were playing. Too much potential not on the football field and Coach Tidwell is not going to get these guys out on it. The word is that these young men do not want to play for this man. I think the admin. will hire a hometown guy and also some of those volunteer assistants that have been so effective at the middle school in getting young men to play will be brought over so the core nucleus of the last 3 years of success at the middle school will not go down in flames when these kids get to the high school.
  16. I love this being considered by ELA old news. He said he had a thread on this last week. I looked back and the thread started on Sept. 17th at around 11:00pm.. After over a 1000 views and 35+ replies the thread was locked on Sept. 18th at approximately 11:55pm. I ask you this ELA why did thread have such a short chain? I will guess no other thread had this much activity as this one did during this time span and now you are telling other people using this site that this is old news. I read the post on the previous thread and many very interesting points of view came up during my reading. Also many other people besides the warren co. regulars type their opinions to previous thread. I would venture out on a limb that this message board gets the most activity of all of coacht's very indepth coverage into highschool sports. I enjoy the site, but would also suggest if people are interested in a topic let them voice their opinions. This previous thread is something people want to talk about so let them. This story broke on Wednesday. This isnt old new by Saturday ELA. Let the people decide when it is old news. The replies and views to the thread will show when it is old.
  17. I agree that Kevin Hobbs would be a great addition to the coaching fraternity at Warren Co. He along with his brother Bucky could use the wisdom they have gained over the years to help the young pioneers in their battle as basement dwellers. I think coach Hobbs could also lure that Prater boy onto the gridiron to help coach the skill positions. Jason's pure speed and agility would be an eye opener for this class of pioneers. Back in the early 90's Prater was clocked around 4.3 as he left the cafteria in the hallways of WCHS. I could never understand why that young man never got a look from the guys upon the hill in knoxville. His brother dart was just a tick slower . 2 things are for certain the mighty pioneers have fallen and midway will never see the glory it saw in the early 90's. Wonder how much revenues have fallen at midway in the past decade. Probably would resemble Enron.
  18. Glad to see the local paper take the stance it did today. Should have called name of parent so everyone who doesnt know this parent and that is very few would know him. Respect is something that is tough to earn and even tougher to get back once you lose it. Will see if the parent had any respect to begin with and if it comes back since the parent has lost all credibility with anyone who knows anything about team athletics.

    Blake Fulton

Blake Fulton is terrible with anything he comes in contact with. Sooner or later people are going to figure this out and Mr. Fulton will be unemployed from all the announcing jobs he now has. Hope this comes sooner for all involved. Blake if for some reason you read this i would like to know whose coattails you rode because there is no way that you got where you are on your talent.
  20. My question is why is this situation getting the press and attention it has received. There is no doubt this young man should have been punished for what he did in cursing a coach. If the dad cant handle his son being sat on the bench for a 1/2 of football because then dont come and watch. Parents need to be just that parents. Leave the coaching to the coaches. No teenager with any respect would curse their coach. No respect for authority should have been the headline in paper. Don't even discuss the situation with the parent on the field. With the parent wanted a meeting fine, but this just causes more problems when the newspaper has a photo of parent and coach along with player discussing the situation. No wonder the pioneers cant ever get ahead. They are too busy chasing their tails. As for the asst. coach I commend you for standing up to this player.
  21. What I don't understand and someone please help me with this is why the school board needs that extra 500,000 or 1.7 million to run athletics. The board go 6 million more dollars this year as opposed to last years budget, but now seems to be putting these sports activities in jeopardy so some other agenda can be met. They got 6 million more, but was 6.3 million less than they orginially wanted now they will settle for 1.7 million, but in fact 500,000 more dollars will fund these programs. I am from other part of Tennessee so not familar with this situation, but something smells here from the school board. Please tell me why.
  22. Like I said same old song and dance. This will get worse before it gets better if it ever does. Remember it has been this way for over a decade. That is over 3500 days and nights and no solution is in sight. Coach Tidwell is probably an average high school coach, but I do not think he will turn this situation around. My suggestion is to go out and get a hometown coach who is familar with the situation. No one from the outside looking in knows how bad it is and know one from outside has a magical spell that can be casted on this program to turn it around. Give this program to a hometown boy who has roots here and is not looking for stepping stone job. Let him run the program for a decade if he wants and realize this will take small steps just to get it heading in right direction. Losing is just as contagious as winning is. Playing the blame game has not worked nor will it work in this situation. Everybody got the answers to solve this problem just like everyone has the perfect idea to make a million dollars, but very few make it and those who do usually work hard to earn it. Hard work pays off in the long run, but few remember it is a long run. This program didnt disappear overnight so chances are it is not coming back next week. Hometown coach, hard work starting from the top, and marathon not a sprint. T
  23. Bottom line is the Pioneers are going to struggle again this year and the same people will be saying give it time,it takes time blah blah. Childers hit it right on the head. It has been so long since the Pioneers have won consistetly that most people in the program do not know what it takes or how to make strides in the right direction. Remember this you can put new paint on a old car,but it still a 85 Nova when you drive it in reference to the stadium upgrades, the scoreboard, new uniforms etc.. Wish those young men from Warren County nothing but the best, but also prepare for the worst.
  24. It seems no one wants to talk about this job or is it that nobody actually cares who gets the job.
