Cornersville wins 2 against Hampshire this week - 13 - 0 and 11-0

From 11A : Garrett Ring - Mt. Pleasant Mikey Adams - Cornersville

I will be very surprised if the Cornersville pitching gives up "several runs". They have held some very good teams to very few runs (Freindship - 2, Soddy Daisy - 3, Goodpasture - 1). Of course, it wouldn't be the first time I have been surprised! This team is playing with lots of confidence and seem to hit better off good pitching. Who knows - maybe we will be the Cinderalla team of the night!

I understand that the eight winners of the sectional games move on to the state tournament, but can anyone tell me how the bracket is determined from there? Is it a blind draw or predetermined by Regions?

Although I do not know who made the third place comment, but I am sure it was a kid. I personally heard kids (including players) making comments about other players, teams, or fans that I consider extremely inappropriate. I don't think teenagers always realize that they may be outside, but many people are in ear shot of what they are saying. The scary thing is that this is just another sign of how we are raising our children with a lack of respect of themselves and others. I am not sure about the certificate thing from last year. I honestly do not remember who won Coach of the Year, but I can tell you that if Cornersville's coach won, I was not aware of it. It wasn't something I heard anybody talk about. Of course, we were all a little distracted by the abrupt end of a great season! You are correct about the importance of being chosen to either the All Season or All Tournament Teams. It is one thing to have a good game, but to carry that level of performance throughout the season (no matter how you feel on a given day) takes a lot of work and is something to be proud of. I am glad that each team gets some representation, but it is very hard to stand out enough on a talented team for all the other coaches to vote for you. (I assume that is how it is handled.) I just feel like you could end up with some kids making it over more talented players because of the team they are on. I have no suggestion on how to correct this issue, it's just something I always think about.

Cornersville beat CA last night 4-2. These two teams meet again Tuesday,04/29. Of course we are all aware that regular season games don't get you anywhere in the post season, but we will look at it as a good sign!

Thanks for the compliment, but we try not to get too confident. We only had one senior last year and blew through the regular season with no losses - only playing two or three complete games. We didn't even make out of our district tournament! That goes to show that you never know what to expect out of teenagers!

The Lady Dawgs came out hitting in last nights game. Everybody on the team hit the ball well. Although correcting a previous comment the lady dawgs catcher is a sophomore not a senior. /rolleyes.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":rolleyes:" border="0" alt="rolleyes.gif" />

Sarah has had multiple homeruns,not sure how many. I believe a total of 5 girls have hit homeruns this season. There are two or three more that are capable and have in previous seasons. Of course, you never know what each day may bring. It should be a great game. By the way, we don't seem to "save" pitchers. Although the Cole twins share the majority of pitching time, we have three other pitchers that can get the job done. I would not be surprised to see any of them start today's game.

Although there is a Jessica King on the team, she is usually used as a courtesy runner. You may be thinking of Sarah King. Like most other teams, the line up is full of girls who hit well. It seems like someone different steps up every game.

I think it will be between Cornersville, CA, and Richland - but Huntland could always surprise someone. I am curious as to how the #2 seed going into the district tournament will be decided. It is my understanding that CA and Richland are tied for second.
