  1. Coach Purvis had a great run and built a tremendously successful program. He's a great coach and will be missed. I wish him the best as he moves into the next phase of his life and career.
  2. We know MJ won over Northwest, what about Station Camp at Rossview? Since no one has posted about a MJ-SC region rematch, I'm assuming they lost, but they could have been rained out. Anyone know anything?
  3. Really? I didn't hear FC's Kyle Wood complaining about not having his stuff that game despite pitching 1 inning the day before just like Dunn. Instead he pitched a complete game and got the W. Dunn was strong that night and looked as good as anyone FC has faced this season other than CPA's ace. Just sayin. Wow, didn't mean to strike a nerve. Not making excuses, just providing some facts. Didn't even mention the FCS pitcher. I didn't even know if it was the same one from the rain out game. From what I heard, they picked the game up but was pretty lenient on changes in the lineup. I wasn't trying to cheapen your win.
  4. FCS didn't see Dunn when he was in the groove. Faced Dunn on the second day of the season down in Gulf Shores, picking up a game from the previous day in the bottom of the 1st. Even though Dunn had thrown a few pitches in the top of the 1st, ask any pitcher to have the same mindset after a rain delay is tough.
  5. Yes, Beech had a chance to control their own fate and missed an opportunity to seize the moment. I suppose what bothers me the most, however, is the lack of ethics, character, or whatever you want to call it from HHS. What are they teaching when the rules get broken, then "unknowingly" bend them to meet their own needs/intersts with no repurcussions? They got what they wanted, a split with Beech which knocks Beech out of first and sending them over to the MJ bracket and HHS gets a third place finish which puts them in the Gallatin bracket. Kudos to the coach, AD and administration for playing the cards to their favor. Just an opinion from my observation.
  6. cf88, does Beaty's no hitter last night mean less because it was against a depleted (by suspension) Hendersonville team or was it a great performance by a player? By your thinking with Dunn's perfect game coming against Portland, sounds like Beaty's no hitter should have an asteriks next to it. Or, can we congratulate 2 young men on great performances on the mound and not worry about who it was against. As Southern Fried states below, a no hitter is a rare feat and a perfect game even rarer. How about we give these 2 young men credit for stepping up above their competition. Nice article on Beaty's no hitter. Congratulations to Beaty and the Green Wave!
  7. Threw one against Wilson Central, though it wasn't perfect. He hit 2 batters. BTW, didn't Wilson Central beat Gallatin?
  8. I'm sorry, but did I miss something? What does a Rutherford County score have to do with 9AAA? Just asking.
  9. Apology accepted. Thank you.
  10. Stick to programs you know about. You have no clue what Beech did or did not do to Hansen. He's at Vol State because he was in a long list of pitchers at Vandy and probably didn't belong there in the first place, not from an arm injury.
  11. The Beech school website for sports is kept up to date, allowing for the webmaster to enter the information.
  12. http://www.tennessean.com/article/20120223/HENDERSONVILLE01/302230111/Fieldhouse-bid-raises-questions?odyssey=tab|topnews|text|Hendersonville Here is a link to an interesting article pertaining to the bidding process for a Station Camp athletic facility that, according to the article, has been pushed to the head of the list for projects.
  13. I stand by my post. I don't know about the situation with the Westmoreland job, but could be understandable since the principal there came from Beech via Portland West and his son is an assistant coach at Beech. I still believe you're reading too much into it. However, you're going to believe what you want and I can't change your mind.
  14. Exactly where is this coming from? Any coach, at any level, that's worth his salt is always looking for new challenges. Just because a coach applies for a job doesn't mean he's wanting to leave his present situation. If that were the case, every coach would stay where their at and never leave. Crabtree has applied for other jobs in the past and didn't get them. I can't recall which particular job was open, but when he lived in Dickson, he applied for that job because it was closer to home. That was before Beech won the state. He lives closer to GHS than he does Beech. Even though the mileage is not as great as when he commuted from Dickson, it's still closer to home and a challenge. The challenge of being the head coach that brings a gold ball back to Gallatin. In your theory, if Creasy doesn't get the job, should Trousdale County be worried that they have a coach that applied for another job and is looking to leave? I don't think so. IMHO, I think you're making a mountain out of a mole hill and trying to create drama where there is none.
  15. If you pay attention to the Community Access School Board meetings and see where the money is going in, it's not difficult to see this. The School Board Chairman and another influential member on the school board have their kids in the Station Camp pipeline. It was through their efforts that created the $100,000+ financial fiasco of renaming Knox Doss to Station Camp Middle and all the work and money to update the school. It was through their efforts that some of the fundraising rules / guidelines have changed. I can only assume that was due to Station Camp not being as successful in their fundraising efforts as other schools. Now having said that, except for the Knox Doss / SCMS fiaso, that's part of the political ebb and flow of Sumner County School Board politics. Right now, it's Station Camp's turn to have "clout" on the board as other schools have been in that position in the past. In the future, another school will be in that position and take advantage of their situation.
  16. The game was a tale of two halves. All Station Camp in the first half but the Bucs own the second half outscoring Station Camp 22-3. Station Camp came out fired up but could only manage 10-0 halftime lead. Beech couldn't find anything offensively not getting a first down until the final play of the 1st half. Crabtree and company make some great adjustments and come out with the win. Beech will definitely have to come out with some life, unlike tonight, next week if they want to compete. If they sleepwalk through the first half again it could be too late to recover. The hole tonight was only 10-0 where HHS could put them in a deep hole next week. Good luck to the Bucs!
  17. Thanks for the nice thoughts GWAVE1. I don't make predictions, but am hoping for a good, safe game tonight. Those late season injuries can kill a team going into the playoffs, much like last year to the Bucs. The Bucs are still struggling with consistency which doesn't bode well for a long playoff run. Haven't seen the Green Wave play yet, but know Coach Lassiter will have them ready to go on Senior Night. I'm hoping the Bucs can hang with them and then make some plays at the end to pull out a W, but if they don't, I'm afraid it could be a long night. Good luck to both teams, play hard and come out without injuries going into the playoffs.
  18. I don't have a dog in this "fight", no pun intended, but IMO a couple of differences between this situation and the Gallatin-Symrna scrimmage. It was my understanding the scrimmage was being taped and with the fight it was "caught on tape". Coach Lassiter and the administration could watch the tape frame by frame and pick out those involved. Fairly cut and dried on who was involved. The Beech-Station Camp "fight/scuffle" (pick your term) was post-game, no tape that I've heard of to watch later, no officials, etc. It would be one team's word against the other with the truth probably being somewhere in the middle. Any suspensions handed down could be at worst a guess which isn't fair to anyone. Again not taking sides but there are some differences in the two situations. Should some consequences have been handed down, probably. Would it be possible to point out the precise culprits, probably not. Just my opinion. May lead to teams taping the post game handshakes.
  19. Just a point of clarification, several players from the state championship team were highly recruited though that doesn't always mean getting offers for scholarships and doesn't mean they have to be "D-1" schools. Jonathan Sites (LB) from that team did sign with Carson-Newman (D-2) and Jarod Neal (QB) signed with UT Martin (D-1, FCS division). There are others that are getting opportunities, Max Zinchini (WR/DB) at UT Chattanooga, Christian Martinez (OL) at Morehead. Travis Haymer (RB) was heavily recruited, but had grade issues, but could surface somewhere if he gets those settled, probably through a JUCO program. The important part is that these young men are getting an education and using their football ability to pay for it. The odds of an NFL career are long for any player, but these young men from Beech or any other school, can enhance their lives by getting their education provided by getting it done on and off the field and in the classroom.
  20. Beech and Hendersonville are tied for the Northern Division lead at 3-1 in the division. The division winner is decided by divisional record first, then if a tie exists, I believe it goes back to overall district record. Gallatin is 2-2 in the division followed by Portland at 0-4. Last year, Beech and Hendersonville were tied in the division, but won the division based on a better overall district record of 8-2 to Beech's 7-3.
  21. Touchy aren't we? Typical of what? All I did was agree with you that Beech's season was over and be glad to discuss HHS's season next week. If you're reading between the lines, I'm sure I don't know where you're going.
  22. Beech's season is over and we can talk next week how HHS's is looking.
  23. Also having seen it on film, there is no question that it was a late hit, but being on the home side no flag. Just because it's a late hit, doesn't mean there's going to be a flag thrown. The officials that night missed alot of late hits. But the reality is that hit changed the dynamic of the Beech offense. Yes, Kenitzer did a good job, but he couldn't duplicate the passing threat Neal posed. Don't misunderstand, not making excuses, injuries are a part of the game, but the loss of an experienced, seasoned QB that had been through the playoffs wars including a state championship game, handicapped the Beech offense. NE loaded the box to stop Haymer and Beech's lack of a passing game lead to a defeat.
  24. HC beware, #57 likes to get in his fair share of late hits as well. Be careful on the retaliation. Second man always gets the flag.
