  11. She plays travel ball for Team Tennessee
  12. I agree totally, the ones who can soft slap when you play back and then hard slap or swing away when you play up or charge are tuff outs.
  13. Sounds like you have the formula to get them out. Outside and offspeed away, I have seen girls try and slap like that but I have never seen it taught that way. If they are starting that far back they are probably starting on pitcher motion instead of when they see the ball. When they make contact they probably hit it up the middle or to the right side which is not really where you want it as a slapper. If the are out of the box like that I am surprised the ump doesn't call it because they have to be way out of the baseline headed toward first.
  14. If any part of the foot is in contact with the chalk you are in the box. That is the way I understand it. I haven't seen anyone called this year for being out of the box but really a slapper shouldn't be out unless they are fooled on a change-up. All a slapper should have is one crossover step or some step back with their front foot and then crossover before contact. I have seen several called for fouling a third strike and the ump calls them out saying they were bunting. The ones I saw I thought were bad calls but some were close calls. When a slapper is trying to hit soft to the left side sometimes they don't break their wrists which by partial definition is a bunt.
  15. Cornersville has enough hitting and pitching to carry them late into a game against anybody in the state. Anything can happen at that point. Are they a Top 10 single A team, ABSOLUTELY!!! I would say Top 5. I would say Trinity, Huntington, Friendship, Cornersville, Forrest in some order and there are others. I have seen all these teams this year and Cornersville hits better than any of them. Are they a Top 10 overall, probably not day in day out, but they can beat anybody on a given day.
  16. That's alright, been off the subject for a while. When you say all-district do you mean all-season or all-tournament or both?
  17. Dawgdaz, never said you were from Cornersville. You need to go back and read the posts and get your facts right. You are the only one bashing anyone here.
  18. dawgdaz, I see you just joined coacht 14 minutes before you posted this. Are you new to coacht or trying to hide something. Looking back through the topic no one has said anything bad about any team. Everyone including me has said Richland and Cornersville played great and played with class. I think Cornersville has the best team this year and had the best team last year. The person who started this topic seems to be from Santa Fe another from Richland, you seem to be accusing CA of making all these posts. I support CA and I am proud of what they accomplished this year. Shelby didn't deserve that last night and you know that. If Tori or another Cornersville player had won MVP last year and that happened you would be on the other side of the arguement. The only one who has made negative comments about a school or their fans is you. So go enjoy your teams accomplishment they are much deserving just don't belittle others in the process.
  19. You don't get out much do you.
  20. Your absolutely right and that is what should be paid for out of the gate money. That and the officials, if a school wants to host a tournament that should just be a cost you have to assume. If you don't want to assume that cost then pass, let the next school in line host. Don't give out paper certificates and turn money back into the schools that will never be put back into the softball programs, reward the kids. tnfisher you are also right about the coach of the year. It usually to the regular season champion which is obviously a point overlooked by the jerk in the crowd last night because Burchell got MVP for the season and CA didn't finish third in the regular season. From where I was standing, I looked were the comment came from and it wasn't a kid.
  21. Both teams played great and with class and Richland did a great job hosting the tournament. Glad to see Richland thought enough of the all-season and all-tourny players to give plaques instead of paper certificate like Cornersville did last year. I think the only plaque last year was for "Coach of the Year" and that went to Cornersville's coach who finished 3rd place with the most talent. That same jerk from last night should have been yelling "3rd Place" then.
  22. Rain held off for first two games. Moore County beat Culleoka 2 - 0 CA beat Santa Fe 13 - 0 It was starting to rain and lightning when the third game was starting, don't know if they got it in. They do not have a tarp.
  23. Why are they waiting so late to start Saturday? Looks like they would schedule to start early and then if they have to back up some they can. Some schools can't come back on Sunday.
