  1. Nick DeSalvatore - Brentwood and Jonah Powers-Myszka would have to rank up there.
  2. I've seen both teams play a couple of times this year. Here's my stance: Brentwood's defense is brutal as their scores would indicate. However, they have some vulnerabilities. I've not been impressed with their accuracy. They control the ball well but should be scoring more - in some games my guess is that they pull back. Allowing a goal to Gallatin and only posting 3 goals is suspect so they can be beat. Couple that with the teams they've played, minus the out of state games and and it leaves you to wonder how good they are. Hendersonville, on the other hand, does have a lot of talent but cannot seem to finish. This was the case last year with them as well, but they pulled it together when it counted - post season. Their defense has held up, even with some key losses in talent from last year, although some of the scores haven't indicated that. I saw the Bearden game and it was a monsoon. On top of that, Hville lost some key players to injury and they basically conceded the second half. I didn't see the Mount Juliet game but heard that had more than several chances to score but just couldn't finish. IF Hendersonville finds their offense they will pull the upset tonight but will need at least 2 goals to do so and that against the Bruins stingy defense. If Hville stays the course of not finishing, it will be a long night for them. Coming off the MJ loss, I'm going to lean toward motivation and say Hville pulls it off late 3-2.
  3. They have Independence tonight, which will be a big test for them because they have a stingy defense that hasn't given up but a few goals all year. Lavegne averages 2 to 3 per game so it is possible they may only score 1. Lavergne has played Hville and Riverdale and lost to both but have basically beaten everyone else they've played. Beyond Independence, they have all district games left: Beech, MJ and Wilson Central.
  4. Brentwood adds another shut out to it total and takes this 4-0. /thumb[1].gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":thumb:" border="0" alt="thumb[1].gif" />
  5. I found their website and it looks like they are planning for some possible rescheduling. They list the rain chances and note to check back for updated scheduling. With Saturday and Sunday looking good, it seems like they could just play those days but I guess we'll need to just watch the weather. Their field is usually in pretty good shape but if they're missing any grass then it will be very sloppy and will certainly put a damper on the potential of some great soccer. 6. I would agree. When do they play?
  7. Looks like some good teams for this one. Unfortunately I think Gallatin is down a little this year but with Brentwood, Hendersonville, Father Ryan, Houston and Collierville it stands to display some great soccer and really good talent. Any predictions?
  8. I saw part of that game and Bearden did dominate for the most part. They pressed the ball well. Hendersonville had some injuries to some key players early on and I heard that they pulled their starters at some point. It looked to me like a hard fought game in the mud and rain. Shonefield worked his magic and had a solid game, despite the mud though. I thought the two back defenders for Hendersonville were strong. Both big and played solid and pressured for much of the game. It will be interesting to see how both teams fare this year with their different styles of play.
  9. Nice job on the rankings. However, I'd have to put Farragut on top until proven wrong in-state. State Champs should always own high spot until de-throned.
  10. Totally agree. In a lot of cases varsity subs play JV games in order to get more minutes on the so the teams are never consistent with regard to their roster.
  11. I think it really depends on KCHS player situation. Are their 3 or 4 starters back from spring break? If not, Bearden takes this easily with 5+ goals and gives up 2 or less. I'll go with Without KCHS Full Team Bearden 6 KCHS 1 With KCHS Full Team Bearden 4 KCHS 3
  12. Why was he red carded?
  13. Final Hendersonville 4 Wilson Central 0
  14. I wouldn't necessarily call Hendersonville over Beech a lock. Hendersonville seems to be up and down so anything can happen as you say. If Beech wins, I think Gallatin takes the next game. If Hendersonville advances, then based on the last game, I'd have to say that for Gallatin to win 2 within a week over the same team would be a task seeing as how similar the two teams are.
  15. What's interesting, and I was at the game last night, is that all of the games seem to be the same - Hendersonville with possession of the ball 80% of the game but just cannot finish. I would say that Gallatin had 4 shots on goal and 2 went in. In the losses I've seen, this has been the case, with the exception of Brentwood, who has some deep talent again this year. Taking nothing away from Gallatin, they have a strong team and should do well, but offensive productivity just has not clicked this year for Hendersonville and was the catalyst for the loss last night.
  16. I've seen Hendersonville play a few times this year and they've definitely been inconsistent to say the least. However, it seems they've had injuries throughout the year and they're now fully healthy. Looking at their results this year, they've only allowed an average less than 2 goals per game so the D is solid. The game will be even but with Gallatin sitting atop the Division with zero pressure, I'm going with: Hendersonville to win 3-1.
