Rumor is Josh is expected to go in the 5th-8th Round range. If so, I hope Josh goes to The University of Tennessee and gets his education before going Pro. There aren't many players out there that have Josh's combination of speed, hitting ability and desire. After a couple of years @ UT I'm sure a better opportunity will be there for Josh. A $250,000+- signing bonus won't last long. A Degree will pay dividends for all Josh's life! I've heard a few folks ask the question "Will Delmonico being replaced have an impact on Josh's future playing status @ UT." IMO, any new Coach will love Josh's attitude, desire and talent. I compare the way Josh plays the game to Brady Sizemore! 110% on every play. UT is going to be glad they signed Josh Liles!!!

Agree! Caoch Dyer has been Head Coach @ USJ 3 years and just to make it to State all 3 years is amazing. To have finished with 1 Championship and 2 Runners-up is beyond amazing. Looking at the young talent Coach Dyer is far from through with USJ's consecutive State appearance streak which currently stands at 7 years. Those that though Coach Dyer would only win as long as the previous coach's players were @ USJ were wrong. Is there a place on The Net or does anyone have Stats from the State Tourney? I would like to see Individual Batting Averages, Hits, RBI's HRs, ERA's, Strikeouts etc. At one time USJ's Clayton Gant was batting .818. I know Clayton cooled down a little but not much. Where did he finish. Josh Liles got extremely hot at the plate the last few games. What was Josh's final batting Avg.? Who were Goodpasture' stat leaders/ What about Bartlett's, JCS's and others? QWould be interesting to see the stats of the top batters and pitchers from A, AA and AAA. Is there a place to find the above info?

Anything can happen is baseball but I would almost bet a week's pay that USJ will be in the next 3 and probably 4 State Tournaments. The Bruins haven't lost this one yet and by the end of this decade, I predict, USJ will overtake Goodpasture in all the categories you mention above. Lots of very young talent on this USJ team and several more in the pipeline!!! The rivalry between USJ and Goodpasture will only intensify over the next few years.

My guess is Hunter Smith but it could be the Junior transfer from Parsons that just became elgible a couple of weeks ago. However, it could be Gant (only 80 pitches Tuesday) or Wills or McWherter or Grimm or Overbey. Heck, it could even be Glenn or Seals or Bryan or LeCroy. The Bruins have several left than can throw strikes. IMO, the key to getting to the Championship is more hitting than pitching for USJ!!

Undefeated (9-0) Sophomore Benjie Fesmire will probably get the call for the Bruins. If the Bruins were over confident, the want be now. It will take a gritty performance from either team to make it out of the one loss Bracket!

PageMan, you are a great supporter of high school athletics. I've seen you at several Volleyball Tourneys and in M'boro supporting both State Volleyball and Basketball Tourneys. Necvol started this thread to generate interest and help fans of both teams to glean info about the opposing team. Did the same Bolivar pitcher (Irvin) pitch against both USJ and Marshall County? I know we are comparing early season vs late season match-ups but Marshall county managed 1 run against Bolivar pitching compared to 11 runs scored by USJ. /blink.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":blink:" border="0" alt="blink.gif" /> May have been different pitchers for Bolivar? The other common opponent was Clarksville. USJ beat Clarksville 5-4 while Marshall County lost to Clarksville 4-8. Again comparing scores probably means little but interesting!
