  1. Great win coach, for you and your team! Very proud!
  2. Well, I Kinda agree, but you can be the best coach in the world but without quality players and/or athletes it just ain't gonna happen. And you can be an average coach at best (ME) with some quality players and do quite well. Just a thought.
  3. Coach Gerlach, just look at the number of private schools over the past 6 years that have made it to state. I am not angry or mad. I was simply responding to comments made toward Coach Moseley, I understand his comments. I also agree that HS coaches should work with the younger teams when they can. G, I just think there can be some adjustments that make the playing field a bit more level...I DID NOT mean to say that you have to go to AAA.
  4. TSSAA states that High School coaches CANNOT be involved with fall club teams.
  5. I have a lot of respect for coach Moseley. He had done a great job at Pigeon Forge. And I do understand his concerns. Coach G is a very close friend, CAK - players, parents, fans, administration are a class act. But the playing field is not fair. You can point to Alcoa beating Catholic and say it is...but look over the past 4 years and judge the outcome....private schools overwhelmingly domininate...DOMINATE...the pubic schools. FACT: Private schools have players from Knox Co and surrounding counties. Public schools (for the most part) have kids from the local community. FACT: Private schools can play 8th graders. Public schools cannont because they are deemed to be on separate campuses. The problem comes to the simple fact that TSSAA doesn't seem to care. It appears that their attitude is "as long as we get 8 team (and 18% of the gate) we don't care where they come from. In A/AA there should be some kind of merit system. Schools like Grace Christian and Berean should not be forced to play in DII or AAA while other schools might. There is a fairer way to do this...and we should find that way. But that's just my opinion. Good luck to CAK and Alcoa!!!!
  6. Elizabethton has some good talent. No 14 plays forward and is always a threat to score...very good skills. They have good speed at the outside mid position and have a solid midfield. but Alcoa has more speed and more playmakers. thought it would be a good game.
  7. AlcoaDad, I alway enjoy reading your posts. Well said. And good luck the rest of the way. I will be pulling for you guys. You have a great team! Well coached!!!!
  8. Man, What an amazing game! Congratulations to the CAK players. You guys played a great game! Also showed your class - after the game cutting your celebration short to come over and meet with our guys. Thanks! G, I did so want to beat you last night and thought a couple of times we just might pull it off. It was a fun game. You are truly one of the good guys and I value our friendship. Also, what a great setting for High School soccer. The fans were great! A number of the CAK parents came to me after the game with very positive comments and encouraging words...that meant a lot to me and to our players...very classy! To the Carter fans and families...you are the best! Your encouragement and support this season has be great. And you meant so much to our team last night...a couple of times in overtime when our boys seemed to be running out of gas your cheers of encouragement really lifted them up. You are a major part of the success of this team. Carter players - I couldn't be more prouder of you! You gave everything you had last night...you held nothing back. Not just last night, but this entire season, you have been super representives of our team, of your families, and of Carter HS. You have earned the respect and admiration from many in the soccer community by the way you play this great game. G, I am pulling for you and Akula to make it to the state finals! That is the tradition that Region 2 plays for the championship. Good luck to you and your boys!
  9. Hey Sportsnut...I question it too! /blink.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="blink.gif" /> Seriously, that award belongs to the entire team along with Coach Jeff and Coach Mark.
  10. I am all for twice more...think G would comply? /blink.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="blink.gif" />
  11. I think this is how District 3 will look. DISTRICT 3-AA: Austin-East Gatlinburg-Pittman Carter Fulton Gibbs Pigeon Forge Union County Berean Grace Christian
  12. Alcoa - 4 Carter - 3
  13. Thanks Coach! What a great game. You and your team are a class act! Good luck next week!
  14. I can tell you right now that coach Chunn DOES NOT want to give up home field advantage...but our field has taken on so much water that to play on it would take away the integrity from the game. And even though we don't have that rule (playing at the opponents field) it is the right thing to do. I think coach Gorman should spot us at least one goal. /roflol.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":roflol:" border="0" alt="roflol.gif" /> We are excited about playing in our district championship game.
  15. I certainly will coach. Coach Woods has been great to work with over the past 6 years. After our game with Hardin Valley the field was really in bad shape..you guys saw it just a few days later. Coach Woods went out on the field with the Gator (to wet for the tractor) and went up and down the east side of the field to make the field playable. He his one of the good guys...and a very good friend. Hats off to you and your team...you had them ready to play! Good coaching!
  16. Carter 5 Gibbs 1 coach Dave had his boys ready to play. They held a 1-0 advantage over Carter much of the first half. Mark Sherrod had a goal in the 27th min and the 35th min giving Carter a 2-1 advantage at the half. Very hard fought game the whole way through. Congratulations to Dave and all the Gibbs players...they came to play! Great game and closer than the score would indicate.
  17. Yes, and that is not all. Our field is in a very low spot on campus...and with all this rain there is no place for the water to drain. For the first time in Carter soccer history we were a #1 seed and were able to host all 3 games if we won. But the field is so wet that after one game it would have been unplayble. We ask Fulton on Monday if they could host the game...they were not able to on Monday but would try to host the game on Tuesday...Tues, mid morning their administration decided that their field had too much water on it and was unplayable (understandable with all this rain). Our AD, Seth Smith and our football coach went out looking at some fields to try to find a place for our team to play...we had to get the Fulton game in by Tuesday if we had a chance of finishing the district playoffs. The only option was to play on the football practice field which was inside the track. They worked all Tuesday afternoon preparing the field for our tournament game. All this was accomplished by our AD and the head football coach at Carter...again, it was the football coach who marked off and lined the field so we could get this game in. These men aren't big soccer fans...but they sure are on the side of our kids. And really, isn't that what it is all about, the kids. These men are my heros.
  18. Thursday: Gibbs at Carter 6:00 Friday: Gibbs at Alcoa 7:00 or Alcoa at Carter 7:00
  19. Actually the field is in decent shape...and we have been able to make this one wider than what we are able to do on the football field. Fans need to bring their folding chairs. Also, big kudos to Coach Woods, the football coach at Carter. There were no lines or markers on the field inside the track, I sent him the measurments we wanted and he with the help of a couple of football players lined the field yesterday afternoon. Did a great job.
  20. Good outcome! This is the way the procees should work!
  21. Gibbs at Carter, 5/6...6:00. The game will be played at the track instead of the football field.
  22. When Seymour, Alcoa, and Carter play you can throw the records, the schedules, and the previous game out the window...they don't mean a thing. Every game is a brand new event. It is good soccer by three teams that have worked hard over the years to build a solid soccer program. I have the utmost respect for Coach Gorman, Coach Norwood and the teams they coach. They are quality sides! Coach Gene Chunn Carter High School
  23. Due to the conditions of our field the Carter - Fulton game for tonight has been cancelled. We have rescheduled the game for Tuesday night, 6:00 at Fulton. The winner will play Wednesday night against the winner of the Berean/Gibbs game.
