It was great this morning seeing high school soccer getting so much attention. Thanks to Dave Link and the Sentinel for the exposer. Now, I have never been one to put much stock in any pre-season polls (just look at last falls college football pre-season polls), but how can you NOT put Alcoa over both Carter and Seymour? Based on the past couple of years you would have to put Alcoa and Seymour over anyone else in that district. Just my opinion.
  2. Yes, this is his first year... George Ashe has coached at West for a number of years...now AD at Hardin Valley, CLASS ACT!!!! Coach McCoy will do great things at West.
  3. Cleveland had a team cancel on them...last game on their schedule. They are looking for a game if anyone has room on their schedule. contact: John Brose Cleveland High School Head Coach Boys Soccer
  4. Shoot...I don't like that coach either!!!!!
  5. OUCH! Yes, I plan on being at the camp in February....
  6. I had our AD look into this about 4 years ago at Carter. Even though our 3 schools - elem, middle, and High - are on the same campus, TSSAA considers them 3 separate schools...probably because each school has it's own administration (prin, v prin, etc). In case like CAK they are considered a single school and are allowed to play 8th graders. Hope this helps.
  7. Yeah, if they had only added CAK to this list.....Seriously, it's great to how much soccer has grown in E TN over the past years...
  8. I was wondering what other High School sports did not put out an all state team besides boys soccer?
  9. From what I read it appears that they will look at all the schools enrollment records the 20 day of school, work up the districts (I assume for all sports) and then approve these districts in November. Sooooo, I guess we may know something after the Nov meeting.
  10. You would think that soccer would be under item #25 - CLASSIFICATION. you would think?! Also, have you noticed that TSSAA wants the HS teams to use the SELECT ball?
  11. It appears that we will not know the fate of soccer classifications until August. According to the minutes the new classifications apply to football, basketball, baseball, softball, and volleyball. What they show now is DISTRICT 3,3A - Gatlingurg Pittman, Pigeon Forge DISTRICT 3,4A - Austin-East, Gibbs, Fulton, Carter DISTRICT 4,3A - Alcoa, Loudon, Kingston, CAK DISTRICT 4,4A - Scott, Stone Mountain I did not see Catholic listed in the paper. Berean was not listed either but I figure that is because they do not have a football team. Looks like we will have to wait and see.
  12. I thought the keeper for Seymour was one of the best I have seen in some time. He was something special in both the Carter and Berean games this year. Also, Alexander Haun from Berean was impressive. He will be a senior next year and someone to keep an eye on.
  13. What a GREAT game. One of those where you hate to see either team lose. Akula, you and your guys had such a great year, and after losing so many players from last years team, you come back and win both the district regular season and tournament. That does not happen by chance, but with good coaching and a bunch of players who believe in what you are doing and in themselves. You guys have so much to be proud of. Your guys play hard but with so much class and character. G. What can one say, you know how to win. And it was a class thing you did, going out to the Alcoa defender after that last goal. Most coaches would be on the sidline celebrating with their team. Good move. Your teams also always play hard and with class. Great win for you and your program.
  14. I agree, what a great talent!
  15. We played Morristown E in a scrimmage before the season started on their new turf. It was nice! Problem was that the lines are permanent...football and soccer...a wider field for soccer but the same length as the football field. The ball rolled sooooo smoothly on it.
  16. Congratulations! 100 wins is indeed a very special accomplishment, not just for you but for all the players who have gone through your program and made this possible. JOB WELL DONE!!!
  17. Last night we saw a great game between Seymour and Carter. Congrats to Seymours team, Bobby, Mickey, and their fans. You have to hand it to the Seymour players, that second half we threw everything we had at them and they stood strong. I don't know how many saves the Seymour keeper had last night, but he was the HERO of this game. And what a great atmosphere. The fans were GREAT! They were so loud and passionate. It was a super night for high school soccer. Seymour brought a lot of support with them, it was great having them there. And thanks for the comments about Mark Sherrod. No doubt he is a very special player. But what most people probably don't know is that he is such a great young man. He demonstrates character and grace both on and off the field. What a pleasure he is to coach and to be around. But I am so proud of all our players. Our two seniors are such great leaders! Without them we would have never had the year we did. Chris Golliher played his heart out last night and scored our last goal tying the game at 3-3. We started 3 freshmen last night and played a fourth freshmen much of the game, and they played so hard, Marcus for example making such a great pass to Mark when we scored our first goal. You may think we are nothing without Mark, but I wouldn't swap this team for ANY! Again, GREAT GAME SEYMOUR! GOOD LUCK IN THE REGIONAL TOURNAMENT...WE WILL BE PULLING FOR YOU!

    Fields

I remember several years ago watching my daughter play on "that" field with the crown. You could not tell what was happening on the other side. An AR's dream. We must remember that soccer is still in it's infancy in east Tennessee...though we have come a long way, there is still much education that must take place. That education includes fans, administrations, county officials, school officials....OFFIACIALS, and coachs (yes I said coaches). We must be patient with all, focusing on education rather than division. Just YESTERDAY, no one knew anything about this great game! I will stop by!

    Fields

You really can't say that about ALL football coaches. I could not ask for a better working relationship than the one I have with our football coach. Our field is in great shape right now, all because of the work he puts into it. We do pay a "MAINTAINCE" fee but it doesn't cover the cost of all he does. I too wish our field could be bigger. But am very grateful that we have access to our high school stadium.
  20. I am not surprised...ever since we got rid of that old coordinator things have been running so much smoother!
  21. Carter plays Sevier Co May 1 at their place.
  22. Berean's coach is Don Lee. Has coached several year with AYSO and club teams. Very good coach and a super good guy!
  23. I have seen the Carter team, and they actually start 11 players. Thanks, I could not agree with you more!
  24. I am wondering why you have Alcoa listed but not Carter
