  1. Heckman has been the biggest playmaker on the team thus far. The line is still not exactly a beacon of size. When they get swamped that gives the quarterback very little time. Heckman's mobility (a skill that is far superior to Smith's) allows him to make more plays than Smith would be able to. Nick is a great pocket passer, but wouldn't have enough time back their to make plays. Simple as that. The Arkansas analogy is an interesting one, but they were blessed with a pretty good offensive line (3 All-SEC players). Indy just doesn't have the offensive line to give Smith time to throw the ball. A dual threat quarterback makes much more sense right now.
  2. You are ignorant... not really much else I need to say.
  3. after last nights game i would say that independence is one of the best teams in state. playing 80 minutes of regulation 2 10 minute over times and 2 five minute overtimes independence matched them step for step. Take nothing away from brentwood but the play of independence last night made a statement and will be evident in the following games. Why is it do you think independence gets no respect?
  4. welshdragon- whats your opinion on some of the fields around the midstate, soccer is a beautiful game and deserves just as beautifu a setting, not to mention its hard to play the through ball when radom sprouts of crabgrass are raiding your field, i guess of for teams who encourage th long balll the field conditions may not be as important.
  5. it will be interesting to see the two contrasting styles of play< independence comes in battle tested and has proved they belong with the strenght of their regular season schedule as well as defeating hillsboro and centenial in the distict tournament who were both high quality teams, they did not show their best against brentwood but the chips dont always fall your way, the ability of them to come back and play a quality game vs mcgavock will go a long way in earing some respect for the new program. all year it has been talked about how independence is over rated and their fans are the only reason they are in games, but when district tournament time came around all the talkers, had there oppurtunitys to put up or shut up, i think we all saw what happend.
  6. just tryin to get an idea of what everybody is playing on this year, do you prefer the soft feel of fescue or the durability of bermuda. some say a hybrid of kentucky featherbed and ziosa works best in the southeast. as for the disrtict tournament the quality of the grass plays a big part and allows teams to showcase all of their talent at the highest level. i mean who wants to worry about playing in a dustbowl just because people are not sensible enough to water the fields, especially come regionals, i would have to say that brentwood has on eof the best quailty fields in the midstate, hows it lookin in east tennesee.
  7. So we are worse than Gallatin and Brentwood? Hmm, that makes a lot of sense.
  8. Reading your posts makes me want to gouge my eyes out. You're like Lewis Black, expect not funny, witty, smart, etc. A month ago Ravenwood was the team to beat according to you, and now it is Brentwood. Make up your mind, please. By good atmosphere, he was refering to the fan turnout, not the end result of the game. Franklin and Indy games almost always have a good, rowdy crowd atmosphere, which I do beleive is a topic that is indeed not pointless. Maybe you need to lay off of the drugs, or caffeine, or something.
  9. Haha, the cross country part made me laugh (not sure how much of a rivalry it will be next year seeing that Indy returns 6 of their top 7 runners). As for the game, like I said earlier, I don't think that my boys from Indy will keep it that close. It may be close after the first half like the Centennial game, but in the end it will be right around the same score margin as the Indy/Centennial game.
  10. What you saw from Carden was an uncharacteristic performance. He has been Indy's most consistent player all year and will still start when Baugh returns.
  11. "Rumor" has it that he may be having his knee scoped. If so, he will be out for probably 3 weeks.
  12. Thats why I asked him when the last time was that Farragut was in the state title game.
  13. Trust me, I wasn't bashing Blake. Notice that I am not saying Blake is a poor player, or he won't improve. I'm only saying that at this point the Centennial fans were stating the obvious in the current situation. To most of us, it is clear that Blake has the most talent of any player on the floor for the Eagles, at the moment. As I said earlier, Blake is usually money, and he is almost always on. I was merely pointing out the Blake does have a few kinks in his game at the moment, but he is young, has had limited playing time, and has all of the skills to be a great player for the Eagles. I agree with all of your observations of Blake and Bryce (I had the privalage to briefly watch him play when he was a senior), and meant no disrespect or bashing of Blake with what I said. If anything, I was hoping to respond to chspride's comment that Blake was average, if that.
  14. Point well taken, definitely not a representation of our entire fanbase, just as Centennial's "nipple-boy" isn't a representation of their entire fanbase. Like chspride said, most of it is all in good fun. Also, looking back at my previous post, I completely forgot that s*ck was edited out on this board with the word stink. Hmm, did TSSAA have their hand in that? /wink.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=";)" border="0" alt="wink.gif" />
