  1. SCRAPPY

    Dickson Co.

Saw them scrimmaage Brentwood Academy. The ones actually pushed BA around pretty good and built a 14-7 lead. BA rallied with a late hurry-up drive to tie it at the half, then the twos took over. Dickson looked like they're probably back in the playoffs with Brentwood, Franklin and Ravenwood. Good size up front, not really deep at the skill spots. Typical Dickson - not flashy, but solid.
  2. Great matchup. Hillwood's defense was swarming and physical against Stratford. Speed advantage is huge to Hillwood. Field condition is a mess. There's not a blade of grass in the gut of White House's field. I'd say close game decided by which QB outplays the other. The two RBs are a wash. Curious to see what kind of crowd Hillwood brings.
  3. I think Region 6-1A is pretty strong this year. Huntland and Cascade are pretty strong 3 and 4 seeds. Mt. Pleasant couldn't play with Riverdale. That's not an insult. But, they look like a good 4A team. I'd say they're on an even footing with Stratford.
  4. I don't know about Riverdale, but last week I spent the first half at Mt. Pleasant-Wayne Co. and the second half at DCA-CPA and came away thinking Mt. Pleasant was the best of the four. DCA's line is awesome, but Mt. Pleasant won't find a mismatch there. Mt. Pleasant has a huge advantage in team speed and size - at the skill positions. Mt. Pleasant will knock out CPA in the second round and probably get the survivor of Davidson and DCA.
  5. Maplewood ('79) Al Young and Thomas Goodlow. Overton ('81-'82) Fruit Bell, Keith Davis and Phil Hord. Stratford (circa '88) Joe Campbell, Robert Downing with Corey Fleming at QB. Antioch ('03-'04) Coker and Preston Brown. Hillsboro ('02-'03) Calvin Bryant, Marcellus Tibbs, Tim Gray
  6. CNNSI.com has released their top 100 recruits. Goodpasture's Patrick Turner is 9th and Antioch's LaMarcus Coker 14h - nationally. I can't recall Tennessee ever getting that much respect.
  7. FatCat and Topnight, thanks for the common sense props. I am the editor of Prep Scrapbook. Four years ago, we started a magazine that covers nothing but high school football in middle Tennessee. Last year, Shoney's got on board for our year-end All-Midstate team issue. The Scrapbook staff picks the teams. Is it perfect? Not by a long shot. Witness the Kelso selection. I'm working off of '03 rosters and the height, weight and classes are taken from them unless I've talked to the Coach since. We're covering 111 midstate teams, making it impossible for every team to be included. I've talked to many coaches for the issue. Not all. Witness my recent long distance billings. I tried to provide a reasonable mix of 1A through 5A while including some producers who'd be considered small by recruiting standards. I appreciate the feedback - even the negative if you can believe that. Buy a copy of our MIDSTATE PREVIEW ISSUE. It's just $3 freaking dollars (call 615-353-7858 after 5 p.m. to order). After that - if you still feel the need to critique, knock yourself out. There's no such thing as bad publicity.
  8. I'm still high on Creek Wood. It's my understanding that a current Red Hawks' assistant will get the job and they won't skip a beat.
  9. Wildcat, I don't have my notebook with me. I'll let you know tomorrow. I'd love to get caught up on you guys.

  13. Wilson Cates 64-of-128 for 1,000 yards with 13 TDs and 3 INTs. 72 carries for 485 yards with one TD. My Livingston stats are missing two games so he was actually a little better than that.
  14. COMBINED TD / RUSHING + PASSING Joseph Ruddle (Wayne Co.) 27 Tate McMillan (Houston Co.) 21 Dave Thomas (Riverdale) 19 Joshua Garza (Sycamore) 18 Burton Elrod (Lipscomb) 17 Dusty Ray (Gordonsville) 17 Kyle Bagwell (PJP II) 16 Jake Etheridge (MJ Christian) 16 Kasey Allen (Portland) 15 Lee Sweeney (FCS) 15
  15. Nunu, I saw Lebanon in the Spring and figure Antioch better be ready on opening night. Peter Taylor (6'3", 275) is a man and goes both ways up front. They return seven starters on both sides of the ball. Senior back Sergio Williams (5'10", 185) is buff and ready for a breakout year. Veteran 22-catch receiver returns along with four o-linemen. QB is question mark. Junior Todd Cross (5'11", 185) takes over. Looked more like a runner than passer. The Devils probably not as deep as you guys - which could factor in the early heat. Lebanon will be okay, but finishing anything higher than third behind Riverdale and Smyrna is not likely. You obviously need to get a copy of PREP SCRAPBOOK's MIDSTATE PREVIEW ISSUE.
