  1. Definitely Warriors, but let's make it multiple-choice on which ones a) Riverdale Hunters Lane c) White County d) Marquette e) Donelson-Hermitage BB or none of the above Let's hear your predictions
  2. Coach Elrod is now a Warrior, but not at Riverdale........ /thumb[1].gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":thumb:" border="0" alt="thumb[1].gif" />
  3. We coached together at Stratford in the 90's and still keep in touch. Peter was a fine football coach also. By the way, on of his best players is Anthony Oden, Greg Oden's brother. "Little" brother Anthony is 6'8 and 275. Dequan Cook, a freshman at Ohio State, was their star last season.
  4. Congratulations to Nashville's own Peter Pullen for winning his second straight State Championship. Coach Pullen is a Maplewood graduate and former coach at Harpeth and Stratford. He is currently the head boys basketball coach at Dunbar High School in Dayton, Ohio. This afternoon he led his team to their second state finals victory in a row. 5. Congratulations to Coach Reed and his Bobcats. Good to see a coach with class who enstills sportsmanship in his players win.
  6. Mike Newman won two titles in the late 80's.
  7. Congratulations to Kerry Dowell at 140. Kerry will wrestle for the state championship tomorrow afternoon. Way to go Kerry. Best of luck tomorrow.
  8. what made the NIL great was the teams represented the communities around the schools. the schools had neighborhood pride. with all the closings and new schools over the past 20 years, we've lost that community support in nashville schools. that's why mid-state schools and privates are flourishing while metro schools are faltering. Is there any school in Nashville that is truly a neighborhood school today? As the NIL has devolved into metro, the importance of the schools to the communities has lessened. There is no connection, no support, and the importance of athletics in metro schools seems to be at an all-time low. The best thing that could happen to metro schools would be to return to true neighborhood schools, like the old NIL.
  9. Jeremiah is leaning toward playing for Bruce Stewart at Okaloosa JC. He visited down there this week and really liked it. He believes this will lead to a major D-1 scholarship in two years. He turned down some mid-major basketball offers. He turned down many D-1 football offers. The kid's dream is to play big time college basketball. Best of luck to him.
  10. How about the Stratford staffs in the 90's? I. Bobby Leech, Larry Overby, Richard Campbell, Bubba Spears, John Moore II. Bubba Spears, Richard Campbell, Ron Aydelott, Peter Pullen, Barry Potts, Matt Derrick And they had a great principal in Jim Neely as well as the ultimate support of Mr. Buster Boguskie
  11. Chief, The whole truth still ain't known. Probably never will be. But at least WJ is partially exposed for what he really is.
  12. Final HL 71 CHS 57 The scoreboard was incorrect at the end of regulation. HL had one of their worst shooting nights of the season. They missed open jumper after open jumper for much of the game. HL also missed more free throws than ever before. Thankfully, Josh Henley had about 20 rebounds. CHS post men were solid players and had nice games. The game turned when HL's pressure defense lead to transition baskets to begin the fourth. After that, the momentum ignited the Warriors. To win a game of this level shooting poorly showed something. HL has a special team. Very well-coached and determined to win.
  13. Have you taken your meds today? Coach Gamble is not only a winner, he does it the right way. For you to criticize him is ridiculous. And by the way, wasn't this supposed to have been your team's year? That kinda ended abruptly when they met Hunters Lane huh. Once again Franklin has a nice record in the regular season, but can't make it out of the regionals.
  14. You did tell the truth, 1999 was the last time two 12-AAA teams met 5 times. Hunters Lane won #5 in double overtime at the Municipal in front of a huge crowd. Coach Collier and Coach Gamble had many battles but none better than that season. Both teams did advance to the 'Boro. I hope tonight's game is half as exciting as that on was.
