  1. Well that was not the news most of us wanted to hear today. Jerry Cook, you were my pick. I have watched you over the years and I think you have what it takes to coach anywhere you want to coach. The former coaching staff never gave you the opportunity to show what great things you have in bag of tricks. God has big plans for you! Hold your head high and those of us who are your supporters will be there for you, no matter what color you are wearing on Friday nights!
  2. The big day is here. The one Rhea County Football fans have stressed over. I wonder what time the announcement will be made?
  3. AMEN! Bandwagon, great post. Rhea Co, hate to see you go.
  4. have enjoyed your updates! since you are in the know, are the interviews over?
  5. If I was guessing they are concentrating on the Football job first. I just hope they find someone who wants to coach and stay in Rhea for a while. Has anyone heard if the job has even been posted? Or if anyone is interested?
  6. Rhea Co needs to hire someone local. Then you do not have to worry about the coach using Rhea as a stepping stone to something better. "No" the pay is not great at the middle school or high school level. But the pay is not what it is all about if you are a true coach. A true coach is there for the love of the game, teaching young players the game and preparing them for the next level. The talent is there, no doubt. I agree with the coaching changes being ridiculous, I have followed Rhea softball for years. Goodin, Crowder, Eldredge, Hayes, Stiles..... I believe Leah Price (Carson Newman) is graduating soon. Someone who would stay around since her family is from Rhea and she played there. Just saying.....not that my opinion matters!
  7. If you knew a few players that do not play for a Chattanooga team, but near the area...who would you send stats to so they could be considered? And does anyone know who the coach is this year? Has anyone been contacted to play yet? Just curious, I know in the past, not all the girls played for a Chattanooga team.
  8. How do girls get nominated/icked to play in this game. Seems like every year they are all from the Chattanooga area only. Would nice to see some girls from, Bradley, Rhea, etc. There are several good seniors from those teams. Do coaches nominate their own seniors or does Clifford just hand pick them? Change can be good!
  9. Crowder "in his opinion" is the best coach any school has ever had. He can give you win/lose stats on every sport he ever coached. To hear him talk, and he did a lot of it, Rhea County was lucky to have him. My "opinion" is that Rhea County should be LUCKY he is gone. Congratulations Rhea County Softball on the schools first ever 1st place in District play (9-1) and 1st place in the tournament (3-0). It would be nice to see more support for those girls. I believe they need to make some room at RCHS in that trophy case for a picture of the team. Since it is FULL OF FIRSTS!
  10. LOVE IT, LOVE IT, LOVE IT!!! cascade11 - you are awesome! /thumb[1].gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":thumb:" border="0" alt="thumb[1].gif" /> putting more players on does not mean they have better players, politics my friend, politics!
  11. Rhea County place first this year and got 3 players on the All District team, Walker Valley placed second and put on 4. Same thing happened last year. Rhea got 2 for second place and Walker Valley got 4 for first. I do not know how they decide, vote, etc. But it looks pretty stupid when a team goes 9-1 in ditrict games and only gets 3 players. If I am not mistaken, it takes more than 3 to get that far in that district. Rhea County should have had 5 players make the team. As far as that "Super Star" from Rhea County. Her Freshman year, there were no "REAL" stats taken. And her Daddy was in the coaches back pocket the whole season. Guess that is how she made All State and did not even get out of district tournament play to be seen by anyone who would know she was an "ALL STATE" player. When Rhea finally go a real coach her true colors showed. She was not one of the best players her JR and SR years. Funny how a player can make all district, all region and all state her freshman year under one coach and then nothing after that when she gets a coach that looks at the whole team and not just one player. Rhea County is loaded with talent this year. It will be interesting to see just how far they go. As far as All District players go, they need to change something. The first place team should get more players than second place, and so forth.
  12. Any one got any thoughts on the out come of this one? I believe it is being hosted by McMinn County.
  13. .727, wonder how many of those were fielder's choice hits, errors, etc. That can make a world of difference when figuring averages. I think all score keepers should have to take a class before they can keep score for HS games, where stats can make or break a teams averages. Would like to see the books for that batter. .727, wonder how many of those were fielder's choice hits, errors, etc. That can make a world of difference when figuring averages. 14. I hope it is posted before the 15th since the tourney is the 11th and 12th. /roflol.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":roflol:" border="0" alt="roflol.gif" />
  15. anyone seen a pool schedule for Cumberland County tourney?
  16. Rhea lost a short stop and a pitcher! They will be strong! Yes they have a new coach, but they also have alot of experienced players. It will be a tight race to districts.
  17. Question of the year! Rhea has no Softball, Volleyball, Boys Basketball, or Girls Basketball coach.
  18. Rhea County had 4 seniors, Leah's sister did not play for UT, but Leah is planning on playing college ball. I believe she is the only senior going on to the college level. She played well enough in the Soddy game that Clifford Kirk took notice of her. She was asked to play in the All - Star game. Congrats Leah!! Rhea County did very well this year. No other softball team has placed in the top two in district play. No other coach has gotten them that far. Rebecca did a good job. Rhea played a tough schedule this year, not like in the past. Rhea County has nothing to hang their heads about! Good job coach and ladies on a good season.
