  1. I assume both. My understanding was Rutherford County canceled all extra curricular activities and that included basketball. This is only hear say but it was Murfreesboro’s decision.
  2. I get it, but in this case, asking fans to leave and return 2 hrs later is petty. Charge 10 bucks and play back to back if you need that money. Doesn’t matter now as I understand game has been postponed again until Monday.
  3. Gotta love the T$$AA. Boys play at 6 Sunday in same gym. 2 hours between games so they can clear the gym and charge the CC people admission again after the girls game. Gotta make that money...
  4. CC shot around 20% from the floor against Tullahoma. That’s unlikely to happen again. Vinson is very special and they have two seniors that can put up big numbers on offense. The offense can quickly come and unfortunately go as well. Not a lot of imagination in the offense either. When shots fall they are very dangerous. But when they aren’t, the lack of movement and in game adjustments are lacking. Everything goes thru Vinson as it should, but that’s a lot of burden to put on a Sophmore no matter how talented she is. And yes, you don’t call that foul in the district championship, but CC should have never put their fate in the officials hand. Easily their worst performance of the year. I’ve seen a team that could beat most anyone at times. They beat East Hamilton in a Saturday play day, two days before the season started. They went toe to toe with one of the better teams in FL over Christmas. That team has 2 D1 seniors and the 2nd ranked freshman in the country. Other times, I have thought we couldn’t beat Columbia. Which team comes Friday, I have no idea. Talent won 20 something games. Talent, coaching, and execution will have to take them forward.
  5. I do believe CC is capable, but only the girls can prove it. I said it earlier in the year, it’s the best group we have had in many years. There is no margin for error though. Experience is a huge plus for them. The ability to score the ball is as well. They will have to be more physical and aggressive in region play. Time will tell. Oh and LadyCavsFan, hope your team silences the White County crowd Friday. Best of luck.
  6. I don’t agree with taking only the top 2. In some cases, 3 and 4 in one district are superior to teams 1 and 2 in the other district. But it is ridiculous to have a week in between district championship and first region game. That’s an eternity in some ways. A hot team has plenty of time to cool off. The regionals should start within 3 days of district finals with the sectional 3 days later. That’s two weeks to get the glass house. I don’t know how other regions do it, but back in the day, the regional semis were an event. Starting up around 4 PM with 2 girls and 2 boys games. The last game starting around 8:30. Yeah it was a little late, but big crowds and a good atmosphere. The way it is now, you get the fans if the two teams playing and that’s about it.
  7. No surprises there. The teams that should’ve won did. Surprised by the margin for FC. Honestly didn’t think they could score that many. Maybe they have something for Tullahoma. Sucks for Lawrence to host the tournament and not be playing in it. It seems to happen more and more. Sorry to see Old Eagle Eye and his team go. He has kept this thread alive for 2 years now and that isn’t an easy thing on the T anymore.
  8. After the mid-season lull ( yes, it was a lull) ,CC has really played well last 3-4 games. A couple of times (once at Tullahoma and once against LIncoln County) they were basically dead in the water, but refused to lose. Nice job going undefeated in district play. Now everything is 0-0. Ready to get to Lawrenceburg. The way they are shooting it, I hate to see the week lay-off. However, having already played 29 games, it’s a chance to rest their legs a little bit. Seeds 2-5 you could throw a blanket over, anyone could beat the other on a given night and as mentioned above, 2 of those teams gave CC all they wanted once this year. Going in, it very well may be an all Coffee County final, but Lincoln County is the dark horse IMO. Great coaching over there. Could be an exciting tournament.
  9. Almost unreal the change in FC from mid January to Tuesday night. Granted, CC shot lights out, but no resistance from them whatsoever. Fill up the car with gas Eagle Eye, you’re headed to LC. Jokes aside, I hope it’s a competitive game. Last year was a good all three times we played. Looking forward to it.
  10. Vinson does what she does putting up double doubles almost nightly to the point it’s almost taken for granted. All the girls have had great moments throughout the season. Tonite was Jenna’s turn. It wasn’t a bad strategy on Tullahoma’s part, but she really answered the call. They played their best game tonight in a few weeks. Hopefully they are coming together at the right time. The team on the floor tonight was the team we saw before Christmas. Proud of those ladies for clinching the reg season championship tonight.
  11. It was interesting for a moment when Tullahoma cut it to 2 points early in the 3rd and then CC rolled by 24. A solid win for CC heading into the last week of the regular season.
  12. Coffee beats LC at the buzzer with a full court pass- Christian Laettner like shot from Vinson.. LC played their guts out. Coach Tipps and his girls deserve a lot of credit. The lack of cohesive offensive play is going to catch up with them in the district tournament I’m afraid. But give them credit, they just keep rolling and wins are really all that matters.
  13. Barring some unforeseen catastrophe, Coffee has the reg season championship wrapped up. The district tournament on the other hand may be wide open. That’s the beauty of basketball, on any given night (with the exception of Columbia) anybody could beat anybody. It may get interesting. Same on the boys side. There is no clear favorite for sure.
  14. Anyone know the district tournament dates? Not the play in games, the actual dates of semis and finals in Lawrenceburg?
  15. It's a fair point, but they are not sharp right now. Since Jan 1, with the exception of the FC game, they have won on talent and not great play. Other than their parents, I doubt anyone has watched these girls play more than I have going back to when they were 10 years old and I know when they are in a rut. I am proud that they have willed their way to wins against Tullahoma and SCHS and I still believe they are the team to beat. I'm not being critical. The girls would tell you they aren't playing their best ball right now because they are experienced and mature players who have expectations for themselves. They will turn it around and be fine, but last night they were not sharp.
  16. I’ve not seen the new addition play, but she has put up some big numbers. Tullahoma seems much more dangerous now. CC was flat tonight. Didn’t box out, didn’t play good defense, and didn’t shoot well. The offense has become stale and more predictable than before. Probably over looked Shelbyville a little too after that debacle in Fayetteville Friday night. I will say the Eagleettes shot it very well tonight. The 3s were really going in. CC is going thru a mid season lull. I still think they are solid to win the district, but I’m much more intrigued by the rematch with Tullahoma. If Duncan has a solid contributor down low that requires focus from opposing teams, look out.
  17. I agree Wildcat. We are rivals but I think we could get along just fine. Passion and enthusiasm are contagious. Kids feed off of it. I used to love to go over to Lynchburg or Loretto and watch games. A supportive community is worth its weight in gold. I won’t pass comment of hype man again, but he could show his spirit a little better. At times he may motivate the opposing crowd more than his own girls.
  18. Enthusiasm is one thing. Antagonizing and mocking the student section is another. He was a bit premature against CC as our girls sit him down in the last 37 seconds and OT. I love a fiery coach, but expect a level of maturity from them.
  19. Same to your team. Duncan is still a CC girl and quite the player. Hard not to think what could have been had she stayed with the group we have now. If they could have all co existed, they would have been special. On another note, I noticed Tullahoma introduced a new player into the rotation last night. A nice debut I see..... And on yet another note, is the word I got that LC lit up Shelbyville last night true? I haven’t been able to find a score but heard it was ugly.
  20. I agree with you on most everything. I may have been a bit boastful around midnight. That’s not my style usually lol. One reason for my optimism is CC began a 6 game home stretch last night. 5 of remaining 7 are at home. Tullahoma played a great game Tuesday. CC was at deaths door for sure, but found a way. I look forward to the rematch.
  21. Here we go again with the schedule... I hope you’re right. Because frankly, I get bored watching these districts executions. CC beats Tullahoma by 20 in Manchester. Watch and see.
  22. CC breezed past FC tonight. It was competitive briefly in the 2nd qtr. I was a little surprised. I thought FC would play a little better. Morgan distributed the ball as well as I’ve seen her do it this year. CC got a lot of easy baskets off Abby driving and dishing. It didn’t show in points column but she played fantastic. Vinson and Vaughn combined for 32 and Graham and Garretson both had good nights offensively. Jenna had 13. Maybe her career high. With Shelbyville coming up Tuesday, we will be at the half way point of district play. CC looks like the class of the field as expected.
  23. Nothing to apologize for from my point of view. You are right. Vaughn did draw a foul on the first screen she set and that was clearly the plan. But, to do that consistently, you have to practice it a lot and also practice on how the ball handler should use a screen. I thought Morgan and Vaughn both got away with a moving screen before they stopped running that set. I enjoyed watching the Cookeville post play. It’s easy to see how she got to a 1000 pts. Cookeville didn’t shoot the ball well at all Friday or the game would have been another nail biter. Only negative thing I have to say and I hate being negative, your coach is obviously passionate. Some might mistake it for dramatic. I’m not sure her antics benefit the team. Particularly in a close game. But, if the kids feed off that “energy’”, so be it. Good luck to Cookeville the rest of the way.
