  1. Me like! FCS hung tough with a school that I'm sure will be a top 10 2A team this year. I expect a solid season from McNeal and his bunch of green guys. /thumb[1].gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":thumb:" border="0" alt="thumb[1].gif" />
  2. Depends on if they play a "real" simulated game. If they do, I pick CPA 35 FCS 14. Although, I hope FCS would would with the exact same score flipped - as a homer Wilson Co. fan. /blush.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="blush.gif" />
  3. The only team that can be Alcoa is the TSSAA - once they clamp down on the out of zone/tuition kids. /thumb[1].gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":thumb:" border="0" alt="thumb[1].gif" />
  4. Ahem ... the site competes with CoachT's. My vote ... stick to CoachT. Input here means a better experience for all.
  5. Oh no, they won't react. I always lead the conversation back to the "why" they are such a great dynasty (sarcasm dripping) - and then there are nothing but crickets.
  6. It's called stepping up and playing the best. Someone from MBA should have a talk to the folks in Maryville. /roflol.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":roflol:" border="0" alt="roflol.gif" />
  7. Guru ... rich. /roflol.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":roflol:" border="0" alt="roflol.gif" />
  8. Poor MJCA struggles with their numbers. I believe I counted a total of 18 kids on the team in last year's team photo. According to another poster on this board, NCS is supposed to be a world-beater /wink.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=";)" border="0" alt="wink.gif" /> - so apparently that is now debunked. With the way the Mt. Juliet area is exploding, the school has a unique opportunity to build a great campus and tradition - that would help bring those numbers and hopefully competitiveness up. I'm just afraid that they don't have the foresight to think about the importance a campus would have on enrollment and perception (all church and school classrooms are shared ... nothing quite like having others rifle through your things over the weekend).
  9. There was a time when the Mt. Juliet 9th (yes, ninth) graders were housed at the junior high - and unable to participate in high school varsity athletics. If I'm not mistaken, a student could be picked up and transported to attend a class on the high school campus to be varsity eligible ... but that meant having transportation every day and that was a LONG time ago. /thumb[1].gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":thumb:" border="0" alt="thumb[1].gif" /> I don't remember anyone ever doing that though.
  10. Just to add fuel to your fire ... you do realize that Alcoa has the same advantage that Maryville has, right? They are also a "city school" that has roughly 1/4th of their student body "paying" tuition to attend from outside the city limits. Yes, that means they could live outside the city or outside the county or outside the state (if someone wanted to commute that far). What is it that makes Maryville and Alcoa so great? Tradition, coaching genius, mutant sized studs ... nope, an extreme advantage that is so overwhelming clear that no one can see if for all the crying about private schools. /thumb[1].gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":thumb:" border="0" alt="thumb[1].gif" /> You will notice that once the discussion turned to the "real why" of Maryville's success it has been nothing but crickets on this thread from the Maryville faithful.
  11. Right. We haven't heard that one before on CoachT. /roflol.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":roflol:" border="0" alt="roflol.gif" /> /thumb[1].gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":thumb:" border="0" alt="thumb[1].gif" />
  12. Right. I don't see a Riverdale, Smyrna (the last two years), or any of the Williamson County schools on that list. I do agree - Maryville is as strong as they come in 4A. But you'll always be a brides maid or 2nd fiddle or whatever you want to call them until you step up where you belong and play the real big boys. /thumb[1].gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":thumb:" border="0" alt="thumb[1].gif" /> An interesting piece of the article that is mentioned above is that 1/4th of the student body lives outside of the Maryville city school zone and pays tuition to attend. Hmmm ... I should hope you would whip up on your 4A brethren with an advantage like that. Just about anyone could be a GQ coaching genius with that type of advantage. /roflolk.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":roflolk:" border="0" alt="roflolk.gif" /> Back to the topic at hand, I believe the BA/Prattville game will be very competitive. I think some will be surprised at the strength of football in the state of TN.
  13. Good luck with that. In the history of this board, you will be the first person to snare a private in a private snipe hunt. Please do let us know what kind of progress you make. /thumb[1].gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":thumb:" border="0" alt="thumb[1].gif" />
  14. You have to be kidding. This is the same Maryville that ducks and covers from joining 5A. That's rich! /roflol.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":roflol:" border="0" alt="roflol.gif" /> /roflol.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":roflol:" border="0" alt="roflol.gif" />
  15. Hi Mr. Reeder. /wink.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=";)" border="0" alt="wink.gif" /> /roflolk.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":roflolk:" border="0" alt="roflolk.gif" />
  16. Man! That is one tough schedule! Kudos not only to the coaches for putting that together, but also to the kids for competing week in and week out. I'm now a Mitchell fan!
  17. Is the Bennett kid related to Jeff Bennett, the Atlanta Braves pitcher?
  18. I agree. The full votes are always overwhelmingly slanted towards booting the privates. It's the BOC members that don't vote along the majority lines.
  19. I think a clear definition of "undue influence" would be great. Do we think Ronnie could give a clear definition to us? /dry.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="
  20. There is an article in the Tennessean this afternoon stating that the Trinity Christian Renfroe girls - the ones that are signed with Tennessee to play softball - are all moving to Williamson Co. and will be attending Ravenwood. Now, they have already met with the Ravenwood coach, but they do not currently live in Williamson Co and dad is also interviewing for a position at PJP2. Hypothetically speaking, what would be the net response if say a superstar like Sonny Gray had stated that we was transferring to a private and had met with the private school coach before officially transferring? /dry.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=" All 3 of the Renfroe girls are superstars of this caliber ... they can play. http://www.tennessean.com/apps/pbcs.dll/ar...87/0/SPORTS0602
  21. Kind of. The reason some of the D2 privates are in D2 is because their "mission" was that they have to provide financial aide as part of their charters (i.e. MBA, McCallie, MUS, etc.). Others, not so much (i.e. BA). Now, expanding the "mission" wouldn't be against the "mission" at all. Frankly, I don't want it to happen. I live a community that will very well be affected due to our proximity to privates - DCA, Friendship, Ezell, Goodpasture, MJCA - and then the elites that some kids do attend like MBA and USN no matter how difficult a drive. We lose kids to those privates year in and year out. I can only image what the athletics programs will look like if the privates take their futures into their own hands.
  22. The difference would be all the current D1 privates would jump into that fray (as much as they can). Then there would be a real "recruitment" of student athletes without the TSSAA rules to stop them (or slow them as others would think). I've talked to 2 different private school coaches and they both feel like that will happen when the split is made. I absolutely believe that is the only reason the privates haven't said enough with this and split themselves already. Not the travel, it is there already. But the playing local teams for variety. Personally, I would have left with a salute a long time ago. Just a few more years and it will be here. Book it.
  23. I think there are a couple of reasons why the privates haven't completely split. The first would be that the TSSAA could ban all their member schools from playing the privates meaning they would have to play each other and then out of state teams. The second is the assumption that a private school organization won't be sanctioned by the national sanctioning body. That would prevent them from playing any of their member schools without their approval or waiver. However, I do think it will happen within the next few years and I do think the privates will finally pool their resources to really make it a great league. I'm curious to see the rules they elect to have once they are self-governed vs. being dictated too. I can imagine that financial aid will be readily available for local public school stars - and the TSSAA won't be able to do anything about it.
  24. That's not the lesson that I'm teaching my public school kids. Nor do they feel that way. I'm not calling you ignorant, but that is a pretty ignorant and inaccurate statement. I'm guessing things are different in the cbg household? /dry.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="
