  1. Come on man. You're really looking silly here. Players get better as they get older, coaches develop players. Thats just sensible. If going on jv really makes you think that thats gonna win you games than more power to you. If I was a rebel fan, I would not be worried about DB in 2009, I would be worried about this season. Because this conference is very balanced this year. I am looking forward to the Jeff Country scrimmage, I think that will be a much better measuring stick than you think. If you put the whipping on them, than I would be very excited about this year's squad.
  2. Another question, what is the word on Moretz. Heard it might not work out, how in the world did it take this long for them to figure it out. Thats terrible to tell the kid now. That can ruin a whole senior year. Anyone know anything about this?
  3. EXCUSE...me,what was his stats for that game, thats what I thought....they lost!!And if you notice I said THEY...DB the TEAM!!!!! /roflolk.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":roflolk:" border="0" alt="roflolk.gif" /> Excuse me, what were your d1's players stats for the game the last time South played DB. And I said nothing about them winning the game, like I mentioned. I was there. They lost, all I am saying is that Those linebackers were beasts, Sensabaugh handled them, so I don't see your boys freight training him or anything. Please inspire me with some more team oriented messages and quotes though, those are the best.
  4. HA!HA!HA! you make me laugh is Chris going to beat South all by himself.....I don't think so.And if you want to talk about some freight train's Ty Garvin and Clint Phillips will be more than glad to meet Chris at the line of scrimmage!!!!So who else will DB have next year?lets see Chris, Chris,Chris,Chris,so I guess if CHRIS was to go down (GOD forbid)so will DB's season. And you know you DB people need to back off of Chris and let him enjoy himself because you create a whole lot of trouble between Chris and his teamates because you make out like he is the whole team. I saw the Farragut-DB playoff game last year. Farragut had beast linebackers, and Chris ran over them. So uh, I think after another year or 2 in the weight room I don't think he is gonna have a prooblem beating some South people. Not to mention, there was a picture in tricitiessports last year of Curt being held up and the linemen like, bowing down to him. There was no problem there. Its not like this is a cheesy sports movie and linemen aren't going to block for their running back because he gets so much publicity.
  5. Is the Jeff County Scrimmage at home? I am guessing it is this Friday like most other schools?
  6. I think its silly to turn this into another DB-South argument. You guys will play each other next year, and will have plenty of time to trash talk about anything. I think its safe to say Chris Sensabaugh is a D-1 prospect, that doesn't mean he will go D-1, but he is definitely a prospect. I am not taking away from South there, because as South fans know, you guys are stacked. Its a given now, you guys will finish first or second in the conference, people can say whatever they want about Elizabethton or Johnson County but its not happening. The players at South are getting to the point where they have to hold up a tradition, they have to win because their boys in the past did and they don't want to let them down. That is what high school programs strive for. I do think this South team will have alot of nailbiters, they just don't have as much big play ability as they did last year, pretty obvious statement, however, they do have an absolute mauler on the line. Any third down with less than 4, they are running behind Beedle and they are getting a first down. Period. If I was a South fan or player, I would be absolutely stoked for this year. All you are gonna hear is doubters, and I have to admit I am one, so everyone should be wanting to prove all of us wrong. Is South turning into a dynasty, or did you just get a once in a lifetime player to take you there. If you win the conference again, its obviously the former. I hope you guys stay injury free, and I will be cheering for South every week except Central week. Speaking of which, the Michael Collier-Hunter Beedle matchup on the line that week will be, in my opinion, the 2 best lineman at their position going against each other. Good luck South, you have a massive target on your back.
  7. Last I heard Beedle was very interested in Western Kentucky. I expect Crowder to play Ivy League just like his brother. Either way, they both have something to be very proud of.
  8. The Central situation is alot like last year. If they can win one or both of those first 2 games (Virginia High and North) they can build on those. And both are very winnable games. The team needs confidence or else it could be another long year. Their out of conference games are Virginia High, Boone, and Cherokee.
  9. Central will be competitive. They have talent, it once again just depends if they have depth. Something they have not had for years. I think Central pulls an upset this year.
  10. My mistake. I was unaware. And ya I heard Kinley is going to be quarterback, I guess this will prove if the theory put your best athlete at QB works or not. I think that may be pretty tough to deal with for opposing defenses.
  11. I heard a rumor Ashlon Adams is in trouble at Science Hill and may be moving to DB. Any truth to this rumor? That would be a huge loss for SH in bball and football and a huge gain for DB. I know this may not relate to the thread, but if SH loses him, they lose their best receiver and will have a ton of trouble with South.
  12. Best team South has ever had? No chance. Does that mean you expect another State Semifinals run, or call yourself a State championship contender. South is gonna have all it wants in conference play.
  13. I think this will be a very interesting game, because it is pretty much the opposite of last year. Last year SH fans talked smack and got rocked, plain and simple. But this year, everyone is staying quiet, and no one really expects much out of them. I don't know what to think about that. I personally think there are a lot of variables that could affect this game. You have to expect South's new QB to be a little nervous right? His first start ever in a pretty big game, South fans can say all you want about the team being great, but the thing that got overlooked by people so much was that Curt not only was amazingly talented, but man he brought his teammates games' up too. Any Mountain Lakes team Curt was on last year would have either won the conference or gotten 2nd, no doubt in my mind, he wouldn't have allowed anything less from himself or his teammates. Obviously South doesn;t have that this year, but they will still be a strong football team. Their defense will be better, their offense will still be good, but won't have as much big play capability as last year. I think SH has more big play capability this year. I still have to give the edge to South though. In the 4th quarter, they will still be strong, and SH's legs will quickly get weaker. I look at the game to be about 14-14 going into the 4th quarter and than South starts to wear on em. South-28 SH-14
  14. Not to mention I think he has a few all conference linemen returning. The only way he doesn't run for 1,000-1,200 yards is if he gets injured or shares a lot of carries. And sorry ftbman, I just can't bring myself to join the Carr bandwagon yet. I know he ran well against South, I know he had his moments, but I just can not see a 5' 10, 165 pounder being able to carry the ball productively on a consistent basis. If he proves me wrong, than more power to him, but I just don't see him getting 1,000 yards.
  15. Pound for pound I think Fletcher and Shepherd are the best running backs in the league. I am still not sold on Carr yet, I think he can be solo tackled most of the time, and if he has to be as good as Barner, he has to have a great offensive line to hide behind. And I don't know if Betsy has that. I will say if you run a sweep and you get that side sealed off, it is going to be a big play, but if he doesn't have help from the line, he is going to struggle. In that sense, I feel like Bennett from Unicoi, Fletcher, and Shepherd can all still get positive gains if their lines struggle.
  16. In my opinion, the Mountain Lakes, with the exception of South and Tn High, has pretty balanced talent, which is why it is tough to decide playoff teams. I am gonna go ahead and pencil in South and Tn High, they will make it every year, they have great athletes, depth, and great coaching. However, after that, I truly believe it is wide open. For example, here are some games from last year. East had to score in the final minute to beat Elizabethton, East had to go to double overtime to beat Unicoi, Unicoi lost to Central, Central and Johnson County's game was very close, Central lost by 2 td's and had 2 redzone turnovers, Johnson County barely beat East and may have gotten a 5th down or something, I don't remember exactly. All I am saying is this, South and Tn High will make the playoffs, after that, its all up in the air. The talent between the next 7 teams is close enough that I truly believe any team can win on every night. However, I am still gonna go chalk, and say playoff teams are South, Tn High, Johnson County, And East. I am not sold on Elizabethton yet, I think they are headed in the right direction, but not a playoff team yet. I also think Central is headed in the right direction, they have great young players, and if they don't move into the 6A/5A division have real potential for building a program. Unicoi has a stud RB, and North will do their North thing and try to grind out games to make up for their lack of either talent or depth. Every team will have to be respected this year. I also am betting Prudhomme gets moved to RB for Johnson County. When they lost Atwood, Tyler Leonard beefed up and got moved to RB, didn't miss a beat, and now, I bet Prudhomme will have beefed up and get moved to RB. He was not easy to tackle, they have to get him the ball as much as possible. Good luck to all. I hope everyone can stay healthy. Go Cougars!
  17. I feel like Sullivan Central has 5 seniors this year that will be very good.Michael Collier at Def Tackle, Matthew Crowder ( the brother of the Center that went to Princeton ) at Def End and Tight End, Austin Box at cornerback and WR, Josh Russel at Linebacker and tackle, and if Cody Likens can come back from a knee injury he will be a great linebacker or def end. Drew Mclaughlin can make plays at any time and Carl always does his thing at QB. Central always has enough good players to be competitive, but their depth is a problem, and they haven't got any breaks in close games the last 3 years. I would call them the sleeper of the conference, the conference is really tough though. They need one good year to get more athletes out there and to show the younger guys that if they put in the work, it will pay off.
  18. Not quite, Moretz only plays football, and wanted a chance to win a conference championship, and his best friends were all mostly seniors so they were all going to be gone. The scrimmage against Crockett did show promise, Central started off slow but by the last few series I felt they looked like the better team. Central had a similar problem last year, in practice their second teamers can not give the first teamers any look in practice. You basically have to go half line drills to get first team against first team in order to make people better. If Central can avoid the injury bug, they will be very competitive this year.
  19. If I was a South fan I would be psyched about the addition of Duke Moretz to the team. I see him being able to step in and help signifigantly at either WR,Safety,or even Outside Linebacker.
  20. If all you have done for 2 days is sit around and read these it doesn't sound like you have much of a life either. Plain and simple, ya got whipped. I would understand you guys still getting on here if you lost by about 10 or 15,but you lost by 43 points! The point of coach t is to get on here and talk trash when ya win, then don't sign on after you get your tails whipped. So please, stop making yourself look foolish.
  21. It seemed like DB should have won by more. Science Hill had about 500 turnovers, including some at crucial moments, and DB had about 5. DB just seemed more ready for the moment, they weren't fazed at all. Also,I may be naive, but I think I would put Jamel Williams and Justin Sylvester against any guard tandem in the state.
  22. #50 did play football. First team all conference tight end. And yes, down the stretch Tn High hit their free throws, that beat us. And now, anything can happen. I got Volunteer pulling the upset over East.
  23. Also,as another way to add some excitement to the board. Anybody got some all conference teams and POTY picks they want to throw out there??
  24. It has gotten to a point where students feel like we can not win,and no matter what we do we are going to get griped at for doing it. Also, there was not crazy support for the football team from students like you earlier stated, and after the East game,it seemed like a parent was blaming us for the girls team losing, therefore,I am blaming the crowd at football games for why we lost. Hightop, thats the coolest picture ever. First Round District winners : DB, SH, Volunteer, Central.
  25. 1. Charlie Morgan 2. John Dyer 3. Tony Vaughn 4. Roby Whitcher 5. Ken Cutlip 6. Boone's coach, don't know his name. 7. Whittemore 8. Crockett's coach. 9. South I think the best coach in the area is Coach English from Unicoi County.
