  1. I'm a Franklin fan, but I have to admit bwoodbruins08, that was pretty dang funny! /roflol.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":roflol:" border="0" alt="roflol.gif" />
  2. I agree with BigDogDaddy for the most part here, although I don't think Coach Clayton was "pass happy" earlier in the season. What I think he was doing was trying to develop a balanced offensive attack. Last year Franklin was one dimensional with the running game and had a good regular season, but weren't able to advance past the first round of the playoffs. I'm sure that's why they made the change at quarterback this year. Unfortunately they haven't been able to develop that balanced attack, and I think it will eventually catch up with them, but not this week. Franklin wins this one by (at least) 2 TD's. /smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" />
  3. Franklin has been desperately in need of offensive leadership all season long. With the Dickson County game hanging in the balance, and their season on the line, Anthony Steele and the offensive line put the team on their backs and led the Rebels to their most important victory of the season... Anthony Steele vs Dickson County Great job boys!!!! /thumb[1].gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":thumb:" border="0" alt="thumb[1].gif" />
  4. I have no idea what reason Dickson County gave, but Columbia canceled their game against Franklin yesterday because of the rain. Last I checked football was played rain, snow, or shine.
  5. FYI... Dickson County (JV) apparently has canceled their October 29th game at Franklin. What started out as a short 7 game season for the Franklin JV team has now ended in an extremely short 4 game season. I feel bad for all of those players especially the sophomores. This season has been incredibly frustrating. It'll be curious to see how many of them come back to play next year.
  6. The Franklin Rebels' JV team is undefeated (4-0). They are led mostly by sophomores but they have some juniors and seniors playing as well. If you go to the Game Schedules page at FranklinFootball.com you can check out game summaries, box scores, and short video clips of each game they've played. That should give you a feel for the kind of talent Franklin will have coming up in the next year or two. P.S. Siegal and Columbia both canceled their games against Franklin (JV).
  7. It was an amazing kick return. #3 is junior Eric Brown. Here's a clip of the return... Eric Brown Kick Return Enjoy! /smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" /> P.S. The clip is a little over 3 megabytes so it might take a little bit to download if you have a slow connection. Also you'll need the latest version of Apple's FREE QuickTime Player to view the clip.
  8. Speaking of Heckman at QB what is the reasoning behind that? Smith was their QB when they played at Franklin a few weeks ago. I'd heard some positive talk about Heckman and had the chance to see him play when Franklin's JV played at Independence, but I wasn't that impressed with him as a passer. Smith also played in that JV game and it seemed like they were bringing him in when they needed to throw the ball.
  9. Franklin (freshmen) beat Brentwood last night 21-14. They are now 6-1.
  10. I think Franklin will win this game. But I also thought they'd beat Ravenwood and Brentwood so what do I know. /blink.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="blink.gif" />
  11. Here is a clip of Casey Dykes' punt return... Casey Dykes Punt Return It was definitely a blown call by the refs. Dykes clearly signaled for the fair catch. You have to give Dykes credit though. It was an incredibly heads up play. Speaking of Casey Dykes I just love watching that kid play. There are players who tease you with their skills Monday through Thursday but disappear under the Friday night lights. Dykes isn't the biggest player or the fastest player but he comes to play every Friday. He's a gamer!!!! P.S. The clip is a little over 3 megabytes so it might take a little bit to download if you have a slow connection. Also you'll need the latest version of Apple's FREE QuickTime Player to view the clip.
  12. Franklin (freshmen) beat Gallatin last night at home 23-3 to improve to 5-1 on the season.
  13. Franklin's freshmen team is doing well. They are 4-1 right now. Check out the game schedules for the '07 Season at the FranklinFootball.com web site. They have summaries, box scores, pictures, and video highlights for just about every game played this year from the freshmen up to the varsity. It's pretty cool.
  14. Brentwood's offense is terrible. Franklin's offense isn't great either but they can at least run the ball. With the defense they have that should be enough to win this game in my opinion. Franklin by 2 touchdowns (at least)
  15. This game was actually closer than the final score indicates. Here is an article about the game from the Tennesseean... Turnovers provide boost to Franklin On a side note, congratulations to Casey Dykes on his committing to Western Kentucky on a baseball scholarship.
  16. Franklin's JV has looked decent so far. They are 2-0 right now after beating Centennial 24-0 and Ravenwood 48-0. Here are a couple of links to the FranklinFootball.com web site where you can read about those two games and watch brief highlight clip's... Centennial Game Ravenwood Game If JV teams are an indication of future success or failure at a program, based on two games, I think the future looks bright for Franklin.
  17. I can see Independence winning this game, but 38-0 is highly unlikely. From the Franklin perspective, based on how the season has played out to this point, this is how I see it... Franklin wins if... They run the ball a lot. Franklin is 1-0-1 when they run the ball 30+ times a game. Independence wins if... They force Franklin to throw the ball. Franklin is 0-2 when they throw the ball 18+ times a game. Franklin has outscored their opponents 49-28 when they've run the ball 30+ times a game. They are 1-0-1 in those games and have only turned the ball over twice. Franklin has been outscored 38-13 when they've had to throw the ball 18+ times a game. They are 0-2 in those games and have turned the ball over 8 times. With an extra week to prepare Independence should give Franklin all they can handle, but I'll take Franklin in a close one. /smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" />
  18. Which team gets their first win of the season?
  19. The game was scoreless until the midway point of the second quarter. McCallie pressured Franklin's QB into a bad throw, intercepted it, and returned it for a TD. Franklin's defense played decent I thought, but their offense seemed to put them behind the 8-ball all game long. They had a breakdown in the secondary on McCallie's final drive of the first half and McCallie capitalized on it with a long pass. A few plays later McCallie scored a TD on a short pass to take a 14-0 halftime lead. Franklin's offense came out in the second half and moved the ball, but they just couldn't sustain anything. McCallie's defense did a good job of stopping the running game and pressuring the QB. McCallie pretty much dictated the tempo of the game. Franklin made a lot of mistakes. Not only were there 3 interceptions, but Franklin also fumbled a punt deep in their own territory giving McCallie the ball inside their 5 yard line. McCallie was up 21-0 at this point and scored again making it 28-0. McCallie scored 2 TDs in the second quarter, and another 2 in the fourth quarter. Franklin scored a garbage TD on their final drive of the game making it 28-6 (they missed the extra point).
  20. Give me a break. You and LadyFbFan are picking nits, looking for a reason to argue. I said that Hillsboro sacked Nichols and he fumbled. Most people will read that and come to the conclusion that he fumbled because of the Hillsboro defense. Let down your guard and open your mind. I wasn't disrespecting Hillsboro. With that said, Hillsboro stinks! Hahaha! I'm kidding, calm down!
  21. workinprogress, That's a very good observation. I was at the game. It was 7-7 and Franklin was driving after shutting down Hillsboro on their first drive of the 3rd quarter. (QB) Nichols got sacked, fumbled, and Hillsboro recovered. Hillsboro then completed a pass for about 20-30 yards and got an additional 15 yards tacked on due to a personal foul penalty. (RB) Seward ran it in after that giving Hillsboro a 14-7 lead. On Franklin's next possession (RB) Steele fumbled right into the hands of a Hillsboro defender and Hillsboro took over inside the Franklin 20. (RB) Seward squeezed through the line and ran it down inside the 5 yard line. That's when Franklin's defense made their goal line stand. Four straight Hillsboro runs inside the 5 yard line were stopped by Franklin's defense. Franklin then took over and drove the length of the field for the game tying touchdown scored by (RB) Lee. That drive would have never happened if a Hillsboro defender hadn't interfered with a Franklin WR on a third and long play. That gave Franklin a first down and kept the drive going. Hillsboro was never in "control" of the game despite what some might want you to think. Neither team was in "control" of the game. The defenses were dictating play. When the officials sent the players off the field because of the lightning I actually thought they were doing Hillsboro a favor because momentum was definitely on Franklin's side after a HUGE goal line stand and a long 99-yard TD drive.
  22. FYI... On Franklin's football website they have an article from the Tennessean posted, along with boxscores, and a short video clip from the game. The clip only shows Franklin highlights but it's pretty cool. Check it out: FranklinFootball.com Just click on the image next to the Rebels-Burros score and you're there.
  23. I think if Franklin can run the ball they'll win. If they can't, and Hillboro is able to get pressure on Nichols, I think Hillsboro will win. Should be a good game. I'm curious to see how Franklin's defense does against the Hillsboro offense.
  24. Defensively Franklin is really good. Opposing offenses will struggle to go 80 yards on a consistent basis against them. I think they're still trying find themselves offensively. They ran the ball extremely well against Hunters Lane. Here is a video clip of sophomore RB Keylo Lee running the ball a few times in that scrimmage... Keylo Lee Clip Franklin rotates a few guys at RB so he probably won't get a ton of touches this year, but he looks like he might be a special player one day for the Rebels. Enjoy! /smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" /> FYI... You'll need Windows Media Player installed to view the video clip.
