  1. Coaches were dropping the "F Bomb"? Why were they talking about Farragut? We dont use the F bomb, just an old Bearden boy here that got interested in CAK because of Coach Young.....Good luck to both teams....I hope for a hard fought game between the whistles! I dont know much about OS this year, in the past they have always been a hard nose team that throws the deep ball, but their bread and butter it just trying to whip you at the point of attach and run it down your throat. It has been good to see the CAK defense grow up a little this season....Still very young which is good news for the future. I will save my Sweetwater comments for that board.....Rockwood too....and I will wait to post about the CAK first round playoff game until that week.
  2. I know the CAK Warriors are off this week. Who will benefit from the open week. I know Epperly had turf tough, several of the players were a little beaten up. Will this week get any big time playmakers back for the Warriors?
  3. I believe this game comes down to ball control. CAK can strike fast, but I still have not seen them put together many 10 play drives where they dont make a mistake. CAK's defense is young and even though they have grown up a lot the past 2 weeks, I think Loudon will be able to run the ball on them. Loudon has there top Tailback back from last season. I expect this to be a close game but in the end I think Loudons ability to run the ball will be the deciding factor. Loudon by 4!
  4. I am not sure why they played in there red jerseys, but I know one thing.....The Red Jerseys with the black numbers made it almost impossible to read....I kept trying to figure out who was running the ball and couldnt pick out who the stud running backs were because I never knew if 21 had run it, 11, 41, heck it was crazy.
  5. I havent heard anything about the injured WR. Does anyone have any information on that?
  6. I just wanted to get some input on how BB was looking this year. I think that CAK will be a little down this year having graduated the majority of there defense from last season. I think you will see CAK improve as the season goes on and the young players get a feel for the speed and hitting on the high school level. How is Boyd looking heading into this season? Did you loose much from last years team? Key Players to watch from CAK Keenon Kolinsky is back at TB Michael Fromke finally get his chance as CAK's QB Big Gabe will be a force on the D line Ethan Poe is a solid linebacker and FB returning from last year Newcomers to keep an eye on Jacob Duncan at LB Taylor Moran at WR Who are the players to watch from Boyd and who are some of the top newcomers?
  7. What does the job pay? Is the booster club willing to throw in some extra money to get a good coach. Like a coach that is retired and has over 30 years experience. And has already built up a new program in Knoxville that beat Oakdale when they lined up in 1A?
  8. Being away from the CAK program for a few years but still following it, maybe you all can let me know who will step in to some positions. Lets start with Defense, with the departing seniors from last season, I would say our new Defenseive Icon is swiss cheese, still good, but with holes in it. The loss of Bennett will be huge, dont think you can replace a player like that but who is next in line...Same goes for Bo Sanford. D-line, got Gabe back, but who has stepped up in the offseason? Offensively, Who will replace Cates? Who are the go to receivers going to be. Is this a rebuild or reload year? I wil check back and hopefully someone in the know and fill me in.
  9. You ask if I am a CAK fan...Yes i watch CAK football...I am also a Bearden Fan, a Maryville Fan, an Oak Ridge Fan...Do I have a true school allience, no. In my reference to the U, it is because of your to Hype Cheer. And the predictions of winning by 28, and how you are going to run the score up over not a fim trade. Your alls words not mine. And yes...Milan is capable of beating Alcoa, DCA is, Goodpasture is, maybe Hunt. (Not as sure about them). And it is not because you all dont have a great tradition. It is honestly because their defeneses are better! I appreciate you allowing to have my opinion, you dont have to agree with me. But at the same time, I have grown tired of looking at every Alcoa post and seeing Alcoa fans say they are going to win by as much as they want! Will I be at the game Friday night, probably...Goddard Field is a great football atmosphere and I have looked at the lineup of games Friday night and this one looks most appealing. You may never know, I might be in your flock!
  10. You know I have seen where every CAK fan who has posted has given Alcoa much respect. I have given you respect. And yeah you all may have been the best team in 2A the past three years, but I really look forward to you all playing Maryville every year so that way someone knocks you off your high horse. I think your to hype cheer is crazy....That is why I respect Maryville, they dont run there mouths, they just button up their chin straps and whip you on the football field. You all are good, You all are by no means great this year. It may not happen but I really hope that CAK comes out on Friday night and puts the wood to you all. We dont rebuild we reload, legends never die, tradition never graduates. Yeah Yeah Yeah.....I cant wait for this year to play out all the way, you may not get beat this week, but you wont bring the gold ball back to Alcoa! If I am wrong I will be the first person back on here congratulating you all and eating Crow, but I have seen teams from other parts of the state play, and you all are not that loaded with talent this year like years past. CAK may not be able to do it, but there are 2 or three teams out there in 2A that can! You all know you are good, do you have to tell everyone how good you all are? How the state championship runs right through the center of blount county. How about showing a little respect to the young men who have worked there butts off from other schools and not down grading them by saying how bad you are going to beat them! You all are the U of Miami of TN 2A High School football, good, but you run your mouths so much that most people hate you! I guess you are right love, hated, but you make sure you are never ignored!
  11. As far as the Filmgate goes, I am not saying one way or another on what went down, because I dont know. But if I were the CAK coach I wouldnt trade. If you trade the last two game films. Alcoa gets to see CAK vs. Rockwood, which as everyone knows was a pivotal game in the outcome of the playoff brackets, so the odds of CAK showing something would be higher and they would get the CAK vs Loudon game, which Loudon is a great team and even though CAK won convinceingly they still probably showed a lot to make sure they advanced. From Alcoa they get the Sweetwater film, from the first round of the playoffs, you can bet Alcoa didnt show anything new in that game and the other film would have been the Alcoa vs Loudon film that CAK got from Loudon in the film trade before the first round. I would have just told the Alcoa coaches, we arent interested in trading, nothing says you have to trade films, and it isnt like if Alcoa really wanted to see the film they couldnt call Loudon and get it. Just as CAK could call Sweetwater. But both of these teams know what the other is good at and not good at. Just doesnt seem like it would be an even trade for CAK!
  12. Let me throw a couple of years out there for you 1997- 2004- 2003- Some of you are saying what do these years have to do with anything. 1997- A group of seniors none of which signed a Div. 1 Scholarship lead a team from Maryville to the State Championship game and they lose to Pearl Cohn and Big John Henderson, but that group of Seniors put into motion what is not considered a dynasty in 4A High School Football at Maryville 2004- Numbers 1,2, and 3 lead Alcoa to what is currently there current dynasty. A 3 peat of 2A State Championships 2003-CAK made the playoffs for the first time in School History, 4th place team in their region, this team of young men go up to Cloudland and knock off the number one team in the state. Get hot and run all they way to the Semi Finals. What I am saying, that sure the cards are stacked against CAK this year. Alcoa should win this one hands down. But Dynasties begin some where. One team stands up and basically just says, we are not going to get beat. I see the moral fiber in this CAK team and the Senior Leadership that they can be that team. It all begins with 1 win then 4 more. CAK got their one win, and the worst thing that could have happened to Alcoa, whether they called the dogs off or not was letting CAK win the second half earlier this year. Now CAK knows that Alcoa's players dont have a big red S on the middle of their chests. They believe they can play with Alcoa snap for snap. I am not here to put Alcoa down or to say CAK is GOING to win. I am here to say, that is why we pay admission each week. Because when it comes right down to it anybody can be knocked off any week. Someone talked about Alcoa would have to turn it over 10 times for CAK to win. I believe that CAK just has to play the best they can. Try to match Alcoa score for score, If CAK doesnt turn the ball over, makes Alcoa drive the ball instead of giving up the big play (80 Yard Troy Hodge runs, 93 Yard passes) and makes Alcoa earn every point they get, then Alcoa will make a mistake and when they do CAK must take that mistake and turn it into points. I do believe that CAK is going to have to play rock solid every single play to win this game. Alcoa is the team to beat. Alcoa doesnt have to beat CAK they just have to not loose to them. CAK has to beat Alcoa! Much respect to Alcoa, they have earned it with their 8 state championships over the years. CAK has 0. But what team will decide we are going to step up and earn one, start that tradition. Its happened before. Good luck to you Warriors, if you want something go out and take it!
  13. 1st Quarter *Cak threw to RB Bennett out of backfield in the flat and he took it to the house around 20 yards *CAK Halfback pass Kolinsky to Scott in back of end zone Wide open *CAK as quarter expired long pass from Cates to Cross covered like 40+ Yards CAK 21 SHS 0 2nd Quarter *Kolinsky doing the Arakansas thing lined up at QB and just took it up the middle for a short TD *Kolinsky 30 yard run where he hurdeled the safety Subs put in Game for CAK *Back TB Bo Sandford, two big runs, and punched it in from around 10 yards out Halftime CAK 42 SHS 0 3rd Quarter * Backup QB Fromke hit Backup WR Houser 20+ yard TD Pass FRESH AND SOPH Played rest of game End of 3rd CAK 48 SHS 0 *SHS #21 15 yard run *SHS Cozart caught a TD pass from 50 + Yards * #21 caught a pass for a TD The Mercy rule was in effect until 4 minutes left in the game when SHS cut it under 45. I really expected this game to be close, SHS has a ton of athletes, but they just didnt play well, #2 didnt even dress out for Sweetwater, all I had heard about was how good he was, he could have made a big difference in the game possibly, is he injured or what is the deal, they had there injured players in jerseys and I didnt see him with those guys. Where was he tonight? CAK could beaten them as bad as they wanted, I am not sure SHS had a first down the first half. They still didnt move the ball against the second team, they didnt move the ball until CAK was really deep into there lineup, like Fresh deep and SHS still had starters in game, I dont blame SHS for this, they only had 26 players dressed out. I like the fact that SHS onside kicked it, even though it was against the younger kids, dont ever give up, I think the coach was sending the right message. Plus it will help CAK's younger players get better....They got to see game time speed and full contact against a first team squad. I dont think Sweetwater will get a wildcard birth though, I hate that for them, they are a good team.
  14. There never was a horse that couldnt be rode and there never was a cowboy who coudnt be throwed! I think this game will be within 3 scores. I say Alcoa wins, but from what I have seen of Alcoa this year I say they wont repeat as state champs. They dont have an explosive receiver to keep defenses from stacking the line and when they play some of the middle TN teams, semi's and championship game, they are going to have to double block some DT's which will let some LB's hunt. I believe Alcoa wins this one and at least the first 2 rounds of playoffs, after that it is a toss up when they will be beat, but I will go out on a limb and say there is not a state title this year coming to blount co in 2A!
  15. CAK has a pretty darn good defense. A little slower than I would like, but against Alcoa, Alcoa scored on a 96 yard flee flicker. In the second half, Alcoa starters still playing i will note that, the warriors held Alcoa to 7 points. All of this after loosing one of their MLB's for the season to a broken arm and a DL for the season to an ACL. They have a start in LB Joseph Bennett. Their Safety is tough, he is adjusting to playing LB right now but he will be fine, smart kid who can adjust well. They also have 4 tough DLineman. They arent going to overpower you, bu they will be there all night long and they will do the little things to help make the defense churn. In alcoa game players were playing out of position to fill the holes, the second half they started to feel comfortable. I will agree though that until someone beats them, Alcoa has the best defense in East TN 2a, sometimes the best defense can be a good offense! When they had Sommers back in the secondary, I would have said hands down Alcoa, but now there is a chink in the arm, and I think that chink is in the secondary. That is if the pass rush doesnt get to the QB!
  16. I do believe that Alcoa had some cruise mode, and not to take anything away from Alcoa's First Half exhibition of offense and defense, but CAK also gave Alcoa some breaks, which you cannot do against a good team. And like a good team Alcoa took advantage of them. First, CAK let Hodge take the ball a long way for a TD. I realize that Hodge is one heck of an athlete, but CAK also was being hit by the injury bug. MLB Wes Stooksbury, broke his arm and required sugery, CAK had moved their FS, Sanford up to play LB in his absense. This left a FS that had very little game time experience. Hodge made a heck of a run, but I believe if Sanford is at FS then he gains 20 yards, Big Plays were the story of the game for Alcoa. Next was a Fumble at the 30ish by CAK's Kolinski, not sure what the correct call was, one ref marked him down another said it was a fumble and Alcoa recovered, CAK then gave Alcoa another 15 yards for an unsportsmanlike penalty over the call. And like a good team Alcoa took advantage of the great field posistion. Then CAK driving to put some points on the board, even if had just been 3 pts. Cates was scrambling and threw an ill advised pass and Cobb made a great play and intercepted it on the 4, that set up the flea flicker play where, CAK's DB's were caught peaking into the backfield. Again dont want to take anything away from Alcoa, that was a great play at a great time and they executed it the way the play was drawn up. If CAK makes Alcoa drive the ball instead of giving up these huge chunks of yards at one time, I dont believe that Alcoa is ahead by 31 at the half, Maybe 28 at the best. I thought CAK showed a lot of guts coming out and not quitting. I dont believe in moral victories, either you win or you loose, but I am proud of the Warriors players for not quitting. They showed what football is all about, fighting and clawing for respect. I believe that CAK players not only learned something about their team, but I believe that every player who played that second half got a life lesson that cant be taught in the classroom, that when the chips are against you, you dont just lay down and quit, you fight your guts out. I know there were several CAK players who left it on the field the second half. Hopefully these two teams will meet again in the playoffs! Good game to both teams. Alcoa was the better team tonight, the scoreboard proved that. But anyone can play hard when things are going their way, how will a team respond when they are down is the question that all coaches want to know about their respected teams. GREAT GAME!
  17. Last time I checked only 11 could play at a time, lets stop talking about enrollment size, it doesnt matter. Yes CAK is having trouble getting schools to schedule them. Especially now that the "wildcard" playoff position is out there. The overall win-loss record is very important. If I were a CAK coach or an Alcoa coach for that matter I would schedule TN school for the blind, if it meant a W. I believe our region is one of the toughest in the state year in and year out. Alcoa is the dominant team...There are a couple of low end teams, but spots 2 and 3 could go to 4 different schools on any given year. Lets stop talking about the english language and multipliers and lets strap the pads on and play. I think that Alcoa still has the athletic advantage in this one. Alcoa is also coached properly and they are battle tested. CAK will not just lay down and quit, but I expect an Alcoa W tonight.
  18. I agree CAK was running the ball well, but CAK's offensive philosophy is to pass the ball. If they were a running team there would have been 8 in the box. Plus with Webbs grind it out eat up the clock offense, it forced CAK to throw. Mid third quarter down 21 you knew you might only see the ball 3 or 4 more times. Webb even if it is 3 and out which is very rare will eat up 1:45. One First down and you are looking at 3:30. So in some ways any team would have been forced to pass the ball. I do understand what you are saying though about taking what the defense gives you!
  19. I heard that Stooksbury had a bad break of his arm, he is scheduled for surgery on Monday, lets all keep him in our thoughts, he is a Senior who had put a lot into this football team. Heard Burdette is having an MRI on Monday. Lets keep our fingers crossed that it is just a sprained knee and nothing more serious. Good Luck to Webb the rest of the season. I hope both of these teams will continue to play well and have a deep run into the playoffs. CAK is going to have to respond to this loss and not let Webb beat them twice. The next four games are all region and due to new rules in 2A only 3 teams from each region are gauranteed a spot in the playoffs. CAK still has a tough row to hoe, with games against Alcoa, Sweetwater, Rockwood and a Oliver Springs team who seems to be improving each week. CAK can only afford to loose one of these final four regional games to ensure themselves a playoff spot. 2 losses and then it will start coming down to who beat who and the tie breakers. Did Webb come out of the game healthy? I will disagree with the above post in one aspect, I do not think the physical play of Webb was the deciding factor. Webb did not gain many yards up the middle, which is where you will see a physical team eat up the other team, Webbs big plays came on speed sweeps where number 1 was getting the handoff running full speed and got the corner on CAK. I believe it was the overall team speed that was the difference in the game. CAK was also able to run the ball with Kolinski, so the O line did a nice job of creating some holes, but the receivers were blanketed all night long.
  20. Recap: Webb scored more than CAK! Scoring summary: Webb scored on a 80 plus yard rush in the first quarter 7-0 Webb scored on a 50 yard plus drive eating up clock, 14-0 CAK moved the ball around 70 yards on around 10 plays capped with a Chris Cates scramble for a short TD: 14-7 Webb drove the ball 50 plus yards eating up at least 5 min of clock scoring on a pass with around 2 min before the half: Webb 21-7 at the half Webb got the kickoff to start the second half. Had a fumble on a center QB exchange CAK recovered Cak ran 5 plays capped off by a Cates to Bennett pass to bring the score to 21-14. I thought the momentum was about to switch in CAK's Favor but on well read the next score and you will see what happened. Webb got the ball on the kick off and on the first play they ran a sweep to the house around 60 yards I would say: 28-14 Fourth Quarter Webb QB scrambling found a receiver who cut back against the grain and scored from around 20 yards on the pass: 35-14 Cates forced a pass to Bennett where a Webb Linebacker was spying, broke on the ball and took the interception around 70 Yards for the last TD. 42-14 Webb was rushing 4 or 5 guys and dropping 6 into covearage. CAK did not complete a pass to a "receiver" until mid third quarter, Webb played great pass D. Number 1 from Webb had to of had over 200 yards rushing. CAK lost Linebacker Wes Stooksbury sometime early in the second quarter, I understand he was taken to the hospital, not sure what was wrong with him, but knowing that young man it must be somewhat serious, he is a tough player and not the type to even come out of the game if it is up to him. Cak also had D lineman Berube out with a neck injury and Lost D lineman Seth Burdette on the opening kickoff of the second half if I remember correctly. His knee was braced with one of those braces they usually put on for an ACL tear and he was on crutches. They were forced to put Ritchie at DE and play a freshman at DT for much of the second half. Fortner I believe is the freshmans name. I was impressed with his playing considering the quality of Webb's line and his lack of varsity playing time. Webb played ball contol offense. Ran the ball well and there defense played well. CAK was able to move the ball rushing, but Cates had the worst performance I can remember him having in a long time. He threw 2 interceptions and most of his completions were dump off passes to the TB or FB out of the backfield. Bennett had a good game receiving and had his usual tackles. Kolinski averaged over 5 yards per carry. Webb just played a good game on offense and defense and when the breaks came their way they took advantage of them. As far as there not being a post there was but it got stupid with trash talking and was removed. The good thing is CAK has a bye week next week and will have some time to hopefully get these bumps and bruises healed up. But the bad news is CAK's next game is against Alcoa. Tough loss, Webb made the plays when they had to and CAK's defense gave up to many big plays. I was really impressed with Webbs overall team speed. There lineman were quick and physical. It is hard to prepare for the Wing T. CAK had seen it against Cherokee but Webb and Catholic are the two best teams at running it in East TN, maybe in the state. I was actually surprised this game was pretty clean, besides one unsportsmanlike on Webb. I thought with these two school being so close and with all the trash talking that had taken place that this would turn into a fist fight. From the stands it looked like both teams played a pretty classy game, but you never know what goes on at the bottom of those piles. The scoreboard said 42-14, but it felt like a closer game than that. When CAK got down 21 points in the fourth quarter it was kind of obvious that Webb was going to win, Webbs offense eats up a lot of time and CAK's passing game was just not clicking tonight. A lot of that had to do with Webbs Defensive play. I dont believe in good losses, but hopefully CAK will take the lessons from this game and use it as a growing experience. Breck Ellison was honored before the game, he passed away this past year and was instramental in the starting of the CAK football program. He played football at Webb in high school and it was a touching ceremony in honor of the late Mr. Ellison. The game was played in his memory from a CAK stand point.
  21. Bennett is good, but that isnt the only thing they have going for them on D. Stooksbury never receives any praise, he is always around the ball and second on the team in tackles. If the linebackers are making a lot of tackles it means the D Line is taking up a lot of blocks, so give those guys some props, try single blocking them and see how many tackles, Huddleston, Ritchie, Berube, and Adkinson end up with. And dont forget about the Safety Bo Sanford, he hits like a linebacker and doesnt mind one bit to come flying up and laying a lick on a ball carrier. Webb is tough, decipined, well coached, confident, quick, strong, and battle tested. They have some good players and will bring it Friday night. Webb either wins this one in a blowout or CAK wins a close game. Will know which way by the end of the first quarter. If webb is able to march it down the field 4-5 yards at a time and score and CAK cant answer, it will be a long night for the warriors. CAK's Defense will get better as the game goes on as they see more and more of the Wing T. The offensive unit is going to have to keep them in the game until they can figure it out though!
  22. That is the only stats that CAK keeps. At the end of the game, the head coach comes up to the stats guy and asks "any casualities", any broken bones, knockouts, concussions, sprained ankles, bruises, flesh wounds, paper cuts, did anyone wet themselves, fall down to hard, or tweak anything and then most importantly he asks the dreaded question, and you can here how scared he is to hear the answer by the way he asks it, "did we put instant hand sanitizer on all open wounds?" They are some hard core folks at Christian Academy of Knoxville! Give me a break!
  23. I think TSSAA should let us play this game under two hand touch rules, so that noone gets hurt, that is about the only thing that can come from this game is a freak injury in a blowout! I hope that neither team suffers an injury, but this is not going to be a competitive game at all. CAK's JV could win this one. And will probably see most of the action!
  24. They will come out in the second quarter, but you know the starters usually go back in for the first series of the second half So to be realistic I said at that mark in the 3rd, I dont think you will see a hole sale substitution until the fourth, before that it will be a mixture of starters and second team...try to work on some team chemistry in case of injury to a starter at some point.
  25. Wartburg is due, Just not this week! CAK will not blow anyone out, but I will make this prediction, CAK will start sending in some of the second team with 9 minutes left in the 3rd quarter!
