  1. Shane is ok. He was released from the hospital late last night and is going to be fine. At no point did he lose movement in any of his limbs. It was a precautionary measure to take him, but a good idea none the less. Any time there is a neck injury, it always has to be taken seriously. It's too early to tell his status as far as playing this week, but we're just glad he's ok. Ethan Mays who was also taken off the field. From what i've heard and the local newspapers, he has a leg/knee injury. Other than that i know no details. i DO know that was a NASTY hit. you could see his legs spread and his knee stay parallel with ground. Volunteer im sure isnt taking these injuries lightly, and im sure while they would like to have their leading RB and leading WR this week, if there's any doubt in coach rider's mind about their safety, im sure he'll keep them out. Hopefully they'll be good to go though.
  2. AS far as the top lineman being out..that is completely untrue. we have all our players and all are ready/healthy. Go Falcons!!
  3. Greeneville-28 Mo East-7 don't get beat deep and contain the QB (he will NOT pitch it on the option) and you've got the game. #15 comes in then its a PASS
  4. this will be an awesome game. No clue for the score, but im picking volunteer all the way! Have a great Senior Night Falcons!!!
  5. Great Job Falcons on picking up a key win in the playoff picture. Now just keep up the hard work in practice this week, and take it to Mo-West on Senior Night. Forget that other Hawkins County Team for this week and you can start getting ready for them as soon as the 4th quarter ends this Friday. Good job east, despite all of your injuries and discipline problems, you all are still right in the mix of the playoff picture. Awesome job to Cradic and the receivers, mainly #3 and #2. Great job guys you really kept the East defense in check. Also great job to the line for opening up some holes for Barlow to run through. I noticed after the game, quite a bit of bad sportsmanship. Mainly out of two of the East players refusing to shake hands with Volunteer. They just went through the line, but would not shake anyones hand. Act like grown men and not 5 yr olds. Other than that the game was pretty calm as far as unsportsmanlike conduct calls, which was a pleasant surprise from last weeks game vs. Crockett. Go Falcons.. Sweep Mo-Town!
  6. final score...Volunteer rolls 34-8 Great job guys, now just keep it going into next week
  7. does anyone know of any good sites that has pictures of this, or any other volunteer games? I've not really seen any on Tricitiessports.com besides just the media day pics..
  8. ahh that cocke co. game was a fluke... if VHS would've came out rowdy and ready to play like the past 2 weeks it would've been 49-0..Dont take Volunteer lightly..like they've lucked up a few weeks..or that boone was having an off night..Volunteer is for real and very easily could been 4-0..granted they're not..but just as good as anyone in the conference..holding mitch masters to 8 yards rushing on 9 attempts..thats Volunteer DEFENSE!!!
  9. Buc.. If you had every police officer in the county..and the surrounding counties there.. and TBI Agents..Ambulances lined up ready to go..parents crying and going nuts because there was an alleged armed gunman ( turned out they couldn't find the gun ) in the school, then i doubt you would be in any mood to "lighten up" about rowdy fans.. Volunteer just went through an extremely tough/tense time and this was no time to be overly rowdy. Don't get me wrong I'm not saying it was all you all, we had the Sasquatch guy with a jersey on running out on the field. I just feel like maybe this wasn't greatest time to test the limits with police.
  10. any predictions for this friday?? i think volunteer wins this one 21-7
  11. it's GAME WEEK..can't wait till Friday, Go Falcons!!
  12. thank you..How many returning seniors are coming back for east? I've not heard a lot, but i did hear you all have a good QB and some playmakers at reciever, and im sure a good RB.
  13. he asked , so i told him. That doesnt matter anyway. Most of the boys playing now dont even remember that except some of the seniors, and its not like they even played that game..i was simply replying to his question. Im sure the falcons focus of their entire season isnt to beat East by 30 and then just forget the rest of the season
  14. yes that is very much true..they like to say they had a bunch of 2nd team blah blah blah..but however east fans wanna put it they had 1st string QB and recievers in and they very easily could've let the clock go, but no they felt the need to throw one last TD.. i hope VHS gets some well deserved revenge. However i think thats the difference between nelson and Coach Rider.. Coach Rider wouldn't run the score up.
  15. So what does everyone think about Volunteer's matchup with Sullivan East coming up next week?
  16. Just for the record when Volunteer's first team offense and defense came out it was 2-2 and then south scored the go ahead TD.. Volunteer did well against Boone tonight at the jamboree. It looked like we threw a lot. I know Aaron Bennett caught one, Ethan Mays caught one, and i know Ray Carpenter had a 31 yard touchdown catch as well. Altough it's just a one quarter situation, great job Falcon's. You're looking better and better every week.
  17. They Scrimmage Sullivan South Wednesday night at 5:30 at Volunteer, and then the jamboree at Burke-Toney on Friday..they play the 2nd quarter i believe
  18. i dunno where i got the over confidence thing from canefan72..maybe the fact that their coach is pretty much already promising a conference title
  19. The offical score was Volunteer-5 TD's Gate City-4 TD's..thats with reserves..without reserves it was VHS-4 GCHS-3 in my opinion it could've been a lot worse for gate city, Volunteer came out FLAT and gate city jumped up 14-0..only after coach jumped on a few boys did the falcons start really playing and they were unstoppable then. Come on Falcon's GET EXICTED!!! you all can be a great team if you want to be..don't be so quite during warm-ups..get hyped up and ready to knock some heads!!
  20. Morristown West- some are saying they may have a down season, but they're always a tough team to beat. Morristown East- in my opinion will take the conference. The only thing that might hurt them is a little over-confidence. Volunteer- i would have them picked in the 3rd spot. They have a ton of seniors and should be very good this year. Daniel Boone- not a bad team, if they weren't so one dimensional. RUN RUN RUN. Greeneville- i have heard Greenway is gone, and that will be a huge loss, but they still should be tough as always. Cherokee- lost some play-makers last year, but should have a pretty decent season. That is if they can control their tempers. David Crockett- they are much improved team over past years, but i still don't think they will contend for a playoff spot. Cocke County- they are team thats steadly getting better, New coach last year with some new players. Maybe they'll make more of an impact this year, but i kinda doubt it. I think this conference is doing a great job of improving. Just a few years ago..it was the Mo-West show...and maybe it still is but teams like Mo-East, Volunteer, G-Ville, and Boone are making it a little more interesting.
  21. Standouts... OFFENSE QB#7 is a great kid and with plenty of experience under his belt should be one to watch out for (senior) HB#32 is a hard-nosed runningback (senior) WR#12 had his moments with some good catches (senior) WR#11 made some good catches last year but i heard he's hurt (senior) WR#3 had a lot of good catches, not as much experience..but did great last year (junior) Offensive Line looked like it had improved a great deal since last year when i seen them in the e-town scrimmage Standouts... Defense MLB#64 Watch out for this one, in my opinion can hang with the best LB's in East TN (senior) OLB#19 had a lot of knee problems but i remember him from his freshman year and im told he'll be back..Tough kid (senior) OLB#44 had a great first season as a Varsity starter (junior) NG#33 big fella breaks it up in the back field (senior) DT#45 great player, always around the ball and seems to always be in on the tackle (senior) SS#20 did awesome last year and picked right up where he left in the scrimmage versus e-town (junior) FS#5 hard hitter and great team player, also plays a little tailback and does great there (senior) probably many more i could name since this team is loaded with seniors and a lot of returning starters..This group went on the 8-1 run in 8th grade at church hill middle, then 7-0 their freshman year, and a lot of them started their sophomore years and had to take a few beatings, but they've steadly improved and i've heard they've worked extremly hard in the weightroom and on the practice field..i Know whats happened in the past doesnt mean anything this coming year, but hey this team has history and thats no lie..i look for a great season.. Go Get 'em Falcons
  22. Volunteer pretty much had their way with them..Volunteer's defense shut them down...E-town's only shining moments came when they were on defense..for the record..Volunteer scored 3 times and e-town only once..they clipped twice on the long TD run on defense..the ref's brought it back..at least 1st team anyway..but hey scrimmages don't mean anything
