Thats probably true, but that doesn't mean they shouldn't be on the first team. It just means they probably won't be.

Trust me, EHS had a lot of blow outs, so Jefferson got plenty of time off this year. Also, I think voters should keep in mind that while Jefferson was certainly slated to get some reps at QB this season, EHS lost their starting QB Cody Tollison during the second week of summer practice. Jefferson stepped in, carried the team, developed into a great leader, and put up impressive statistics in the process.

The award is based on regular season performance, so that won't have anything to do with it.

Well, there are so many things to which I want to respond, so I won't even bother quoting all of the posts. First, I didn't get a chance to watch the game, but from what I understand, it was a hard fought game. Both teams played hard and deserved to win the game, but as the old cliche says, its a game of inches and EHS came up short in the end. Second, I want to congratulate BA on a great game. Unfortunately, they have knocked us out of the playoffs twice in a row, but I won't let my frustrations on that front get in the way of sportsmanship. Good luck to them in the Championship game. Third, I think it is impossible for the countless injuries for EHS to be discounted. EHS lost both Jefferson and Darkwa for some portion of last night's game. Anyone who knows anything about EHS knows that this is a crushing blow to EHS' team. In addition, they had already lost their 3rd running back who was also a starting DB, their starting TE/DE, their #1 receiver/safety, and their starting QB. I am certain that no team in the state could recover from all of these injuries. Fourth, Ricky Bowers and the EHS coaching/training staff are neither selfish nor stupid. There is no doubt in my mind that if there had been any risk for further injury to Darkwa, they would not have played him in the 2nd half. They would never gamble on his future and the future of EHS' team. Finally, I want to apologize for all of the dumb, cocky, and disrespectful posts by EHS fans (or as I suspect, non-EHS people trying to make Ensworth look bad). There is no place for that on this site or anywhere, and I certainly would hope that people like you 3yards wouldn't have to stoop to that level. Act like the honorable, mature person that you claim to be. Good luck to EHS next season, and I assure you that the Tigers will be back looking for that first football state championship.

If I remember correctly, you "got hammered for posting it" by myself and others because the thread had nothing to do with MBA at all, and it seems like every EHS thread ends up talking about MBA... kind of like this one for that matter. Back to the game... I expect this to be a physical battle on both sides of the ball. Expect Orleans and Tavarres to get their yards on the ground. However, I think BA will do a good job limiting EHS' big play ability, keeping this one close. I think Jefferson will make a big play through the air late in the game, and EHS will win a close one to move on to the State Championship Game. EHS 28, BA 24

Who cares who is considered the "underdog"? The bottom line is that this is a matchup of two of the best teams in the state of Tennessee regardless of class, and it promises to be a great game.

EHS runs the clock down and moves on to the semifinals by a score of EHS 34, McCallie 17. I haven't seen an updated score for the BA-Briarcrest game, but I'm assuming we are going to have a rematch of last year's game semifinal matchup.

EHS scored a TD midway through the 2nd quarter and missed the extra point. McCallie then scored a TD, forced a punt, and drove down for a field goal as the half ended. McCallie 10, EHS 6 at the half

I know this sounds dumb, but EHS is about as healthy as they can hope to be considering they have four 2-way starters out for the year. Let's hope they can avoid any further injuries in the playoffs.

First of all, I don't know anything about this alleged visit, but I find it hard to believe for many reasons. Second, I haven't heard if the player is now eligible, in fact I'm pretty sure he is not. No matter what he will be eligible for next year, but he has sat out this entire year, I believe because the Mt. Pleasant principal refuses to allow it. Now I have a comment for all of the people who ay that EHS took advantage of this kid because all they care about is football. I think the principal of Mt. Pleasant is making an unfortunate decision here. He certainly isn't helping his own team, because the player is already gone and isn't coming back. And I understand that he in no way, shape, or form owes ANYTHING to EHS, so I won't even argue that he is being unfair to Ensworth. What I find unfortunate, and extremely selfish is the fact that this administrator is clearly holding a grudge against this player and his family. He is clearly so bitter about having lost a good football player (Don't get me wrong, he is a great kid, but clearly that isn't influencing the principal's decision) that he is willing to take out his frustrations on a kid who is now in a great position to succeed. So who cares more about football: The school that is giving a fine young man a great educational and athletic opportunity, or the selfish administrator who is trying to take the football aspect away?

Thanks for the clarification, that makes a lot more sense. The original post just said it was the top 40 DII players in the playoffs, which would have to include at least one of the 2. It didn't say anything about prospects or seniors. But now that I see what the list actually is, its obvious why Darkwa isn't on it, because he is only a Junior (if he doesn't make it on the list next year though, I will have something to say about it). I still think Jefferson has the potential to be a really good DB in college, but that doesn't necessarily mean he would make it on this list.

Sorry, I think I was unclear. McCallie is certainly one of the teams I don't want to face, but tonight's game won't have any effect on that. EHS is going to play McCallie no matter what, but I was just saying that it would be great to only have to face one of the 3 (MBA, MUS, BA) rather than having to go against 2 of them. No disrespect meant to McCallie.

Thats why EHS' fans will be rooting for Father Ryan tonight... If Ryan wins, then MUS, MBA, and BA will all be on the other side of the bracket, which would give EHS a pretty easy road to the Championship game. Not to mention, whichever team makes it from the other side of the bracket with have already played at least 1 really tough game already in the playoffs.
