  1. Congrats to EHS on an undefeated regular season and home-field advantage in the postseason! Keep it going in the playoffs!
  2. Why would you post this? It has nothing to do with anything. This thread is about the EHS vs. BGA game, so lets keep it to that (or at least post something about high school football).
  3. From the TSSAA website: If Ensworth wins and Brentwood Academy loses, Ensworth is first, MBA is second, BGA is third, Brentwood Academy is fourth, and McCallie is fifth. If Ensworth wins, MBA wins, and Brentwood Academy wins, Ensworth is first, MBA is second, Brentwood Academy is third, BGA is fourth, and McCallie is fifth. If Ensworth wins, MBA loses, and Brentwood Academy wins, Ensworth is first, Brentwood Academy is second, MBA is third, BGA is fourth, and McCallie is fifth. If Ensworth loses, MBA loses, and Brentwood Academy wins, BGA is first, Ensworth is second, Brentwood Academy is third, McCallie is fourth, and MBA is fifth. If Ensworth loses, MBA loses, and Brentwood Academy loses, BGA is first, Ensworth is second, MBA is third, Brentwood Academy is fourth, and McCallie is fifth. If Ensworth loses and MBA wins, MBA is first, Brentwood Academy is fourth, and McCallie is fifth. If Baylor wins, BGA is second, and Ensworth is third. If Baylor loses, the tiebreaker goes to the victories of their opponents and cannot be determined until the end of regular season, but the two schools will be second and third in some order.
  4. The most recent stats on tnsuperprep.com (which hasn't been updated in 2 weeks), puts BGA at #10 in scoring D in DII AA (18 points per game). They are 1st in passing D (80 yards per game), but #11 in rushing D (179 yards per game). I have to believe that after the BA game, BGA's stats have gotten worse, but I don't have that info. EHS is the number 1 team in scoring and rushing, so expect Ensworth to put up big numbers on the ground. On the other hand, BGA is 4th in scoring, and 3rd in passing, while EHS is 9th in scoring D, and 13th in passing D. I think Ramsey will have a big day for the Wildcats. Expect this game to be a lot like EHS v. MBA, with EHS dominating on the ground, but BGA putting up huge numbers through the air. MBA is more athletic than BGA, so I think EHS has this one as long as they come out with focus and intensity. EHS by 14
  5. MBA will have their hands full against a very underrated McCallie team. That having been said, McCallie won't be able to stop Wise through the air. MBA by 17
  6. I find it hard to believe that Orleans would only get 19 carries in a season on any team in the country.
  7. EHS has had success against BGA recently, but this is not the BGA of old. Expect a great game from both sides. As an EHS fan, I have heard a lot of good things about BGA's QB, so I am looking forward to seeing him in action. Overall though, I don't think BGA an stop EHS' two-headed monster in the backfield. EHS in a close one 35-27.
  8. All I'm saying is that they didn't do that without him in the game, but they did do it with him. I didn't see anything specific, its just an observation. He was also a force on the D-Line all night.
  9. EHS' offense was pretty out of synch tonight early on, in large part because they had some starters playing on only one side of the ball. However, they kicked it into gear the moment (and I literally mean the moment) that they were back at full strength on offense. The only offensive lineman not playing for the Tigers until the 3rd quarter: Will Netterville. I think that speaks volumes to his presence both athletically and as a leader.
  10. I understand your point, and this isn't directed at you, but honestly though, who cares what the sophomore parents think? Parents always think their kids should play more, regardless of the score, the opponent, or the situation. Maybe they should realize that their kids might not be good enough, or might not work hard enough, to earn a lot of playing time. And maybe they should follow the examples of their kids, and put the team's success over their own ego (obviously not all kids feel this way, but I know that a lot do, and they all certainly should).
  11. Are you really complaining about the officiating in a 45 point blowout in which your team dominated?
  12. There were a lot of players who usually don't start in the game for the Tigers for much of the night. But yes, you're right, most of them came in in the last 9 minutes, which is to be expected. Even 9 minutes of playing time for all our freshmen is impressive.
  13. If BGA beats EHS next week, would BGA be the number 1 seed since BGA would have beaten EHS, and EHS has beaten MBA...
  14. I think every healthy member of the team got some playing time tonight. Usually when the freshmen and sophomores are in the game on D, the other team can get a cheap touchdown, but I was impressed with EHS' inexperienced players and the way they hung in there. I also saw a little more passing from EHS tonight, but I must admit, Orleans played much more than I expected.
  15. EHS started the game with most starters not playing both ways. Midway through the 3rd quarter, the starters started playing both ways, but then the starters were totally pulled with about 9 to go. On another note, EHS' kicker from last year graduated, and this year's kicker was lost for the season against Father Ryan.
  16. EHS is playing everyone only one way to keep everyone rested and healthy for BGA and the playoffs. Also there are a lot of young guys in the game getting some good experience. Darkwa looks almost back to his usual self, which is great to see, but he's still somewhat hesitant. Having the 4th fullback and an offensive line with some younger players isn't helping.
  17. KP McDermott went to Ensworth beginning in Pre first, and played on the "Fearsome Fourteen" team when he was in 7th grade. In 8th grade, Coach Bowers asked for a volunteer to be the long snapper saying something to the effect of, "Boys, I know it sounds silly, but you can get a college scholarship for long snapping one day." KP raised his hand and was Ensworth's long snapper for all 4 years of high school. He also played OT, DE, and TE for the Tigers, and was a member of the first ever Senior class. He was a top 5 LS in this recruiting class (Im not really sure how they determine this, but I think he was the most accurate at the most prestigious camp, and was top 5 in snapping speed), and had the chance to choose between Notre Dame and UCLA (UCLA was willing to guarantee admittance, he was unsure whether he would get into Notre Dame). As a result, he is now the backup long snapper and probably 4th or 5th TE on UCLA's roster. He is not on scholarship yet but he will be soon. He is redshirting this season because their current LS is a Junior (I think), and should be starting in a year or two. I'm not sure how much TE he will play in his career, but he definitely has the blocking skills and the build to be a good one. He is also a really great guy, and was also a standout on EHS' basketball team.
  18. I apologize if my comments have come across as arrogant or obnoxious, because that is certainly not my intention. I certainly don't think that people who go to Ensworth are better than everyone else. I'm also not saying that EHS is the best DII football program. All I'm saying is that right now, this season, EHS is the best team in DII East/Middle. I don't claim to know much about the Memphis schools, so I won't say the best in the state. The bottom line is that EHS is undefeated, they knocked off the defending state champs, and as such should be considered the best team until someone beats them. It one thing to be cocky, and its another thing to be proud of the accomplishments of some great young men (which is what the Mr. Football award is all about).
  19. Blake Crozier DB Fr Nashville (Ensworth) Sewanee Kevin Patrick McDermott LS/TE Fr Nashville (Ensworth) UCLA
  20. Like I said before, EHS can only beat the teams they play, and so far they have (including MBA if I remember correctly).
  21. I'm pretty sure if you asked Wesley Johnson whether or not the EHS offensive line is "a bunch of blocking dummies", he wouldn't think so. Your point about competition is fair, but I don't think Netterville should be punished because of a weaker schedule. His job is to dominate the line of scrimmage against whatever team is lined up across from him, and so far this season he has done exactly that. Two more quick things. One, Netterville makes everyone around him better. He has a great attitude, a strong work ethic, and he is a leader on and off the field, and it rubs off on his teammates. He may not always be a vocal leader, but he leads by example. Second, you would be hard pressed to find a young man with higher character than Will Netterville. I know this award is about on field accomplishments, but I don't think character can be completely taken out of the equation. Will Netterville is the type of guy who will knock you down and then help you back up, and I think that it would be great to see not just a great athlete, but also a good person be recognized.
  22. Do you know this for sure, or is it just speculation?
  23. EHS is averaging over 317 yards rushing a game, is leading DII in scoring average, and has only given up 2 sacks all year. They also average over 450 yards per game. I think its hard to argue against EHS' offensive line in terms of statistics, and Will Netterville is definitely the leader of their veteran group.
  24. Just for the purposes of clarity, 55 for Ensworth is RT David Davis, and 56 is Netterville, who is currently playing LG, but has also played some center and tackle.
  25. Back: Either Darkwa or Jefferson from EHS (they both open up lanes for the other, and while Darkwa has the better numbers at this point, thats due in large part to the fact that Jefferson forces defenses to focus on him. Plus Jefferson played a great second half against Father Ryan without Darkwa on the field. Both of them are dynamic athletes, strong leaders, and grounded young men.) Lineman: Netterville from EHS (He is the leader of both the D-line and the O-Line which has made some gaping holes for the best duo of backs in TN. He has played guard, center, and maybe some tackle, he has fought back from serious injuries, and he is one of the finest young men you'll ever meet.) Kicker: Fletcher from MBA (I don't know much about him off the field, but I know that he almost always kicks touchbacks, and that his field goal percentage is great. Not to mention he has kicked some very long field goals.)
