  1. While I do agree that Coach Courtney is definitely a class act, and would never go into the game with the intent to run up the score, I doubt that he would be too concerned if the team got a little happy in the fourth quarter and routed Heritage. FHSFOOTBALL51, I understand your pride in your school, it's my school too. I'm an alumni, and have been playing and watching Farragut Football all of my life. I've seen or played with every great player since the 70's. I have also had to deal with the stereo type that all people from Farrragut are egotistical snobs. Your previous comments just struck a nerve with me as furthering those misconseptions. No worries, I often wish more Admirals had a little more pride and fire.
  2. Here's something you don't hear about everyday: I heard that the Heritage coach refused to exchange game tapes. I have never heard of a coach doing such a thing. They don't need a Farragut game tape because Farragut played on TV week 0 against West, and I'm sure they have a copy. Maybe this will fire Farragut up, and give them a reason to pound Heritage 100-0. I hate for their kids to bear that for their coach's breach of a worldwide gentleman's agreement, but there sould be ramifications for such an act.
  3. According to the coaching staff Sterling is the all-time rushing leader at Farragut. I don't know the actual numbers, but surely they have those at the school. My concern this week is the fact that the combination of bitter rival Bearden on the horizon ( and hasn't Dawson Halliday been their QB for about 10 years now? ) and the fact that Farragut hasn't lost to Heritage in forever may be trouble for the Admirals. This team hasn't been challenged yet this year, so it will be interesting if Heritage jumps out early what will the Admirals mindset be?
  4. I hope the situation is so that everyone gets to play. If you saw the Central game you saw Farragut's #2 Back - Chris Bass (Soph). He's a 5 ft. assasin that kills defenses with a low body lean and powerful legs, and apparently a nice spin move. Also got to see Reese Browning"s friday night debute at QB, strong armed sophmore QB. For those of you players who post on here about how your going to hang half a hundred on everybody, just imagine practice the Tuesday following a loss to Heritage. Coach Doucette will have you doing up-downs till your uniform is drenched with puke. Wise up young Admirals, don't be the .500 team that should have gone all the way.
  5. Before we go ahead and crown Farragut state champs this morning, let's be real. That was absolutely the worst Central team I've seen in forever. Having #20 at RB would have hardly made any difference at all. Maybe he could have broken a long run or two, but overall Central may be in trouble this year. They have absolutely no defense at all, forget Sterling, Farragut could have had #66 running the ball and still put up good numbers. Farragut receivers were open all night, Martland had his choice, and rebounded from a average game against West. Sterling was his usual self, start slow and wear a defense down. By the 3rd quarter he was a man among boys out there. FHSFOOTBALL51 is an embarrassment to our community. Probably still harbors some anger over having to play JV his senior year.
  6. Central is always one of the most athletic teams around. Always have a number of guys that can go the distance on any play. However, they are also one of the most undisciplined tema around. Those same guys that can tote it the distance can also let you down by laying it down or giving up if things go South. They always bring pressure off the edge, but if you can block the pressure you can usually make good yardage between the tackles. Farragut by 10.
  7. I'm going OR by 10. Fulton will struggle against the OR defense. Size definitely matters when playing a 5A team with nearly the same speed. I don't know about OR's offense though. It seems like 15 years since OR hasn't had a Gullmire(sp?) in their backfield. I think Spencer played for 10 years, at least it felt that way. I wonder about the officiating as well. The Anderson County Officials Association can always be counted on to keep the other team in check at Blankenship, but will the KCOA return the favor Friday?
  8. I was highly impressed with the West WRs, athletic kids that could flat get open. Ryan was as advertized, strong armed, perhaps too strong, if I had any problem with his game I would say he might have overthrown some passes that a little touch might have been better, but there is no doubt he's as good a high school QB as you'll see playing on Friday nights. The biggest difference in the game was West OL was far overmatched by Farraguts DL. West had to completely abandon the run, which makes it hard to run the veer with much success. I was disappointed that farragut tried to run wide against West when it should be obvious that to counter speed you have to run right at them. Most all of Andre's good runs were between the tackles. farragut had better sure up their kickoff coverage or they will pay a heavy price this year. It's been a weak spot for a couple of years now. The kicking game is the quickest way to switch momentum in a game and it nearly cost them friday night. In all a good game to watch. West was better than I expected, I never felt comfortable in the 4th quarter. I think West ran out of gas late in the game.
  9. I heard from a Alcoa fan, with some insider knowledge, that Maryville has a new TB that moved in from Texas. Can anyone confirm this?
  10. ruse?, I guess my point on athletes didn't come across like I intended. My point was not that West doesn't have good ahtletes, but when facing OR and Ooltewah a couple of times a year your players are used to seeing that kind of speed and there for it has less impact than against a team that rarely sees that much speed across the line. Farragut runs a 3-5 defense which is very flexible and allows you to bring pressure from a lot of different places. Farragut's defense will definitely have to be solid in their assignments against the veer, but West better be solid in their protections or their QB wont have any time at all.
  11. The only thing #66 is Committed to is increasing his pant size.
  12. I get that West has good athletes, but so do a lot of teams. Farragut plays Oak Ridge and Ooltewah every year and sometimes twice a year. Do you really think West has the athletes to compare with those teams? I doubt that West will have much success running the ball. They may escape with 1 or 2 big gainers if Farragut busts an assignment, but it wont hold up for much of the game. This game will hinge on West being able to throw the football, and Farragut has some serious athletes of their own in their defensive backfield.
  13. First let's handle the #66 question. The only way he's going to Florida, or anywhere else is if his mama buys him a greyhound ticket. Some one was right in that his mama is HOT. The biggest O question mark is playmakers at WR. Allen is a great athlete with good but not blinding speed. The question mark is Soph. Lee Van Dyne #22 (I think). Great speed to stretch defenses, good hands, could be a huge difference maker if he can perform on Friday nights. Martland is solid at QB, a threat to run if the opportunity presents itself. Super competitor. This years senior class is the biggest and strongest class in years. If they can perform close to expectations the Admirals can go far this year. No question marks on defense. Strong across the board. D-Line is probably the strongest and deepest in years.
