After reading the previous posts on this board and doing some self guided research about the girls basketball coach at Riverdale High School, I can't help but post my oppinion on the subject. I know this board is meant to be a positive one, but sometimes being positive needs to be 1-uped by things such as integrity and humility, especially in the public education setting. I know Coach Burt personally, and it shocks me about his recent actions. To knowingly publish an inflated record made up of non varsity TSSAA wins is very deceptive. It is as if Coach Burt is so eager to be mentioned among the top names in coaching he is willing to step on the backs of those who made coaching girls basketball a great job. I also did some checking about the ejection at the Port St. Lucy Tournament in Florida - it is very funny to me that nothing was made of it and it wasn't reported from anyone to TSSAA from Riverdale High School. Honesty is still a virtue at most all high schools, but obviously not in the office of Coach Burt. All of this might be viewed as minor, but if a public educator is willing to openly decieve a magazine and its readers for personal gain, then where does the deception stop and at what point is Coach Burt willing to go to make himself look better. Just a small piece of advice to Coach Burt and other young coaches looking to or breaking in the coaching buisness - Work hard enough to EARN your victories, be victorious, teach as hard as you can to help change lives, then you won't have to pat yourself on the back - there will be 100's of kids there to do it for you.

With the recent relocation of the sisters Lanning (Scarlet and Ann Marie) and the move of the Stones (Rachel and Leah) to Riverdale and arch rival Lorretto this causes one to think about the possibility that the so called honeymoon period at Lawrence Co with the coaches might be coming to an end. It is well documented in their (the two together) history that it only takes around 2 years before people get tired of their actions and the way they treat people. Just wondering if these recent two moves of 4 girls could have anything to do with the head dog or dogs as it is in this case. Before long Lawrence Co. will not only regret the day they ran Stacie Childress out of town, but they will also have to back up a truck, hook a couple of 20 lb. chains up, and pull Willie Joiner out of the grave that they burried him in to ever regain the state championship form of what once was a great high school program now reduced to just decent.

Goolas is good and Barrett is good also but the best would have to be Tim "Sky" King, Bob Winston, and Mike Tatum

I know that you are a banker and I am going to say that you can take out a loan and put it up against the statement "Marshall Co will finish 2nd in their District" and I say you will lose the house. No way, no how does Marshall Co come in front of Paige or Loretto. Just another warped Law Co mind!

Shoot, I would say fourth at best. The Stingers won their substate then got cheated out of it. This is probably the weakest TN Stars team that I have ever seen that actually went to the Nationals. As long as Memphis, Shelbyville, and the Tigers have teams, Carson and crew will be on the outside looking in, just the facts...

Your right, I am from Shelbyville and just walked by one of our 10 gold balls in the trophy case. Have fun looking at yourself in that silver one that you stole last year, becasue it will be the last ball of any sort in Law Co for a long time to come. Oh yeah, "gogold" if you want to see some real basetball you can come to Shelbyville this weekend where we are having over 30 top notch teams, that is if you ever get out of Lawrenceburg

The point of my post was that with everyone else playing 2 and 3 games against equal or better talent, why would they play only 1 game and against Marshall Co? You cannot be serious in talking about Marshall Co being more than decent. They are terrible, and the worst team from Lewisburg that I can remember seeing. Last year everything was set up(47-6 foul ratio vs. Memphis East) for Lawrence Co to win the gold ball and they couldn't get it done, and they sure will have a much harder road to hoe this year. Law Co should be in the hunt, but you never hunt what you can't kill.

What a playday indeed. To have such a great playday and to have some very good teams, I question the schedule making in this event. Lawrence Co, which I am a very big fan of, had it's choice of playing the likes of Dyersburg, USJ, Giles Co, etc... But noooooo, they pick on a poor, depleted, excuse for a Marshall Co team. In the only game that they played, they picked Marshall Co, which might be feilding its worst team since Patton was a Private. What is wrong with this picture. For a team that is supposed to make major AAA headlines they sure don't seem to be preparing for it. Just an outsider looking in....

Meridith Redus is a sophmore at Cookeville this year and she had a very good summer of AAU playing in Shelbyville. I would say that is one of them, but no others come to mind
