  1. Very well put 101. Wonder what "DR" will have to say about this now? Maybe he has decided to give up and move on because he knows that something has got to change.
  2. It may be funny to you "DR" but it is not funny to the kids that have to ride the second bus. They are always being told they are losers, so again I say why would you want to respect coach's that do this to the kids? This is not a way to build respect or trust of the kids. In my opinion NONE of these kids are losers. Anyone that would stick around thru everything they have gone thru the last 2 years in my mind are winners. This team may not have had the best talent in the world but they had heart and never gave up.
  3. The cussing the player happened many times at practice and even a couple times on the sidelines on Friday nights. I know it happened last year at Clinton on the sidelines when the coach in question grabbed the kids as he came to the sidelines and got in his face cussing. There is no place for this. I do not cuss my kids and would not appreciate a coach cussing my kid. If your fishing for a name "DR" you fishing in a dry well because I am NOT going to name names.
  4. It is hard to respect some of the coach's when they stand on the field and cuss your kids like sailors. There is no place for that especially when one of them is a "Youth Minister". Yes WE do know these coach's. I know they are fathers, husbands, and so on and so forth, but they also show lettle respect for the kids.
  5. If you live in Maryville and know the Maryville coach's so well why are you going to LC games and not Maryville games? If you read all the post on the LC Fan thread you do NOT offer any suggestions how to improve things in Lenoir City. You are not worth arguing with so be off to your hole in the ground.
  6. So "DR" what was there record? Maybe you don't know either. Coach's should build leaders or at least help develop them as leaders. I know what the freshman record was and want to see if you know since you are spouting off how good they were this year.
  7. Dr sounds like you get around. Maybe you should move to Maryville. Oh wait a minute they probably don't want you over there either. You still have not answered questions on another post about LC Fans. All you seem to want to do is argue with everyone and not offer any suggestions.
  8. For your information DR, Billy does not run the Little League program in Lenoir City. If he is tackling his players it is probably showing them how to correctly tackle. Showing them the proper technique and how to driver thru your man when you tackle them. I used to do this when I coached. I coached for 6 years and MY kids knew how to block and tackle. I agree with everything you said Maxi and pantherman85 and it is completely correct.
  9. That may be Diver but Halls was up big by the half. I wish Halls luck as well in the playoffs. You guys have a great team and an excellent back in the Kitts kid.
  10. DR why don't you climb back under your rock. You also need to learn how to spell and how to you the appropriate words when you type your post. Mrs. Gentry is write? I think you mean Mrs. Gentry is right in relation to her letter to the editor in the newspaper. If you have no ties to the Lenoir City Football program why don't you just go away. If you cannot offer your opinion as to what needs to be changed then also go away. If you look at the middle school teams in Blount County they all play each other and noone else. The Lenoir City Little league program may not teach the kids what it takes to play High School Football, but they do at least teach them how to play as a team and the fundamentals such as blocking and tackling. Without these programs Lenoir City High School would not have any somewhat experienced players on the High School team. The Lenoir City Little league teams play such teams as Midway (High School team in playoffs), Loudon, High School team in playoffs and killed LC), Polk County (High School team in playoffs and beat LC in the jamboree) among others. So I do not think the Little League team is a joke. I know the gentleman that runs the league and i think he runs a pretty good program. Things are going to have to change at LC!!!!!
  11. Very trus BSL. Central and Helton didn't do it, Halls didn't do it just to name a few. Coach Q is a top notch coach and I dare to say probably the best coach in the state.
  12. I would like to congradulate Coach Quarles and Maryville on a fine season. You have a very well disciplined team. Only 1 penalty during the whole game and it was a false start. You also Coach Q a very classy gentleman. Most coach's would have left the starters in the game friday night and literally beat the crap out of Lenoir City, but not you sir. You played your back-ups and their back-ups. To me that is a sign of a very classy coach that does not want to run the score up by leaving your starters in the game. Good Luck and bring home another Gold Ball!!!!!!!
  13. For your information "DR" I have both a life and a job. Things in Lenoir City are NOT going to change until the administration starts supporting the football program. Right now it seems that the only support the Football team has is from the Booster Club and the players parents. I agree that some of the coach staff needs to go or things will never get any better. In order for the kids to respect the coach's the coach's have to respect the kids. You cannot give one form of punishment ot a non starter and a different form of punishment to a starter. It has to be the same all across the board. Just because you said it looks like Lenoir City only looses 2 starters from the defense that will help the number of points scored. I don't think so. Until they get back to the basics of learning how to tackle they will be in the same boat as this year. Lenoir City averaged 5.1 points per game this year and gave up an average of 39 points per game. You do the math. With stats like that you can't win anything. You have to learn to block and stay with your man on offense and you have to teach the QB that if nothing is open and you get scramble out of the pocket and gain some yardage to throw the ball away and stop taking sacks. I realize that Lenoir City does not have a Middle School footbal program, but they have pretty darn good little league program that seems to be the top team or close to it every year. I bet tose kids are taught how to tackle and how to block. So that tells me that yes it is a coaching problem at Lenoir City High School. The last few games that Lenoir City played this year it seemed that the ONLY fans in the stands were some students and the families of the kids playing football.
  14. Dr must have got tired and realized that he was wrong since he has not responded in sometime now. If more attention is not paid to the football program by the administration the football program will fall away to nothing. The senoir class this year started with about 40 kids their freshman year and ended the senoir season with I think 12 or 13 kids. I would like to say thank you to Maryville and Coach Quarles. He has got to be one of the classiest coach's in High School Football. Many coach's would have kept playing their starters and completely blown LC out of the water friday night. Having watched Maryville and Lenoir City for 3 years now he has never been this way. Thank you again Coach Quarles. Maryville has a great asset and a fine gentleman in you and they are a very lucky school to have such a fine head coach.
  15. To answer your question NO I DID NOT ride the bench in High school. I started from my sophmore year thru my senoir year. D Pratt maybe over 6' but he cannot play both corner positions at the same time nor the safety position that he played some. Why would you play your Varsity Startes on the JV team? The JV team should be used to get your Varsity back-up players some reps and experience. Dr here is the definition of JV as listed in the TSSAA Handbook: "Junior Varsity - Any level of play below the varsity level, whether denominated as junior varsity, b-team, or otherwise. The membership of a junior varsity team shall be compased of varsity SUBSTITUTES and any other non-varsity players identified on the school's eligibility list." SO VARSITY STARTERS were NOT supposed to be playing JV games. You might be able to win if you only score 51 points and shut out your opponents but Lenoir City could not stop anything this year or last. So I think you "DR" need to think about what your saying before you speak. If things do NOT change Lenoir City will be in the same line as Harriman a few years ago when they went almost 5 years without winning a game or even like Wartburg who has not won a game in 3 years. If you are so unhappy DR maybe you should take your child elsewhere to play.
  16. Dr, I don't know what games you have been watching on Friday nights. The record over the lat 2 years should have been 1 and 19 and it does not matter if we scored 42 or 51 points. If you can't score more points than that in a season there is no way in **** you can win football games period! As far as the discipline goes I was suprised that the player that cussed the coach did not play. They had not stuck to anything before so why should they start now. As far as playing JV, if you start on Varsity you CANNOT play JV football. Why would you want to play your starters on JV and risk getting them injured during a game that does not count for anything anyway? Yes the freshman had a good season compared to past seasons, but the JV team did struggle in the games that I watched and at times were as bad as the varsity team. Yes the other teams in our region may have gotten better, but with the players we had returning Lenoir City should have been at least competitive. WE WERE NOT!!! Look at the stats and you can see that we were not in the same league as the teams that Lenoir City played this year. We had less than 1000 yards total offense for the year. How can you win games when your offense can't get more than 1000 yards in a season? Our defense gave up more than 3000 yards and we could not stop the run or the pass. Our corners were too short to cover the 6' + receivers they were playing against. Something has to change and change soon. In closing I want to thank all the SENOIRS that stuck around thru all the turmoil and losing.
  17. I think you may see changes at Wartburg, Oliver Springs, Sweetwater, and maybe a few more local schools.
  18. The senoirs that have stuck around for 4 years have endured a lot during their playing days at Lenoir City. I wish them the best after High School. Keep your heads up guys and keep fighting. GO PANTHERS!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  19. The reason they discontinued the JV games was due to injuey's on the varsity. He has some varsity starters playing JV as well. I feel that if HE had a better staff then things might be better. Seems like Lenoir City has gone to the Good Ole Boy coaching system. There are some of the coach's that the kids respect and likewise they respect the kids. A couple of the coach's could care less about the kids and at times cuss them like sailors. I think it is time to make some changes.
  20. There is a lack of Discipline at Lenoir City. Players are allowed to do things which are strictly against school rules. The kids with the fireworks on school property is strictly against the rules and nothing was done. Players cussing the coach's and them being told they are suspended for the next game and low and behold they are practicing the next week with no punishment. The coaching staff at Lenoir City High School needs some major remodeling work. If the kids don't like to coach they are not going to come out and play football. Lenoir City does have workouts during the summer months and also do passing skills with the QB's and receivers/running backs. You only have a hand full of kids that are truly dedicated to playing this sport and others are just out there to say that they have played football. It appears that right now the ONLY fans that Lenoir City High School Football has are the parents of the players. I feel that if something does NOT change soon Football at Lenoir City High School will be non-existent. In closing, Senoirs keep your heads up and keep fighting. Good Luck at Maryville friday night. GO PANTHERS!!!!!!!!!!!!! /thumb[1].gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":thumb:" border="0" alt="thumb[1].gif" />
  21. What are you are thoughts on this one?
  22. If Halls continues to play down to the teams they are playing, Lenoir City could pull the upset this Friday night. As far as the rain goes, IF it continues and the field is messy it could end up being a game of who can run the ball and hang on to it. GO PANTHERS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! /thumb[1].gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":thumb:" border="0" alt="thumb[1].gif" />
  23. You may beat Lenoir City this week, but in NO WAY will you guys beat Maryville. If Halls is not careful though winless Lenoir City might just sneak up on them and win one ruing Senior Night for your boys. GO PANTHERS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! /thumb[1].gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":thumb:" border="0" alt="thumb[1].gif" />
  24. After 2 weeks of disappointing 1 point losses I feel that William Blount will come out fighting and knowing Scott Meadows he will find a way to coach the Gov's to a win in this game tonight.
