  1. And, just so we're clear...

The consensus from fans of other schools is that Fulton should be fored to play outside of its classification simply because they are better than everyone else? They've averaged 83.5 points so far against two teams in higher classifications already. What good is that going to do?

It's silly that jealous fans want to punish the Falcons simply because they are better than your teams are.

  2. Congrats on hard work and having a great team, but can you answer the question? Is Fulton able to get kids from out of zone? If so how many are on the team? Most schools in large county systems have school zones in which students have to attend their zone school. Does Knox County have school zones?

Best of luck the rest of the year see you at TTU!!

If Fulton is getting kids from outside their zone, isn't that a Knox County Schools issue? And the question I'd follow up with is this: WHY, pray tell, would KCS make that exception for Fulton? Now, if it's allowed because kids are coming into the vocational system at Fulton, I don't see what the problem is.

The rumors and innuendo are nothing more than jealous fans who cannot grasp that this staff works really hard to develop the great athletes who come through the pipeline. And they come from fans who clearly don't understand the level of integrity that this staff possesses. These men are coaches, teachers, and most of all, mentors who demonstrate class and integrity to their players. As much as they want these young men to win State Championships, they want them to be good men.

And, for the record, it's my understanding that Quarles is the one who doesn't want the Fulton/Maryville matchup to happen. (And this is coming from someone who would know.) I don't bring that up to besmirch Quarles, as I believe that he and his staff are every bit the men of integrity that Fulton's staff is.

  3. Congrats DL. You played well today, and you played with fewer mistakes. That's a tough combination for any team to overcome.

Congrats Falcons for a good year. I remember when 1-9 or 2-8 was the norm at Fulton. Buck and his staff have done a wonderful job building a state power on Broadway. It just wasn't to be this year.

Anybody wanna go for a 3rd straight title game next year?

  4. Thanks for the updates there hosak!

I'm at work and no radio or TV....(link for webcast ain't working!)

    You are appreciated!

    Go FALCONS!

    Reguards to the Board,

    Mapp

Mapp... glad to help. YOu sure it isn't working? Mine is working fine. Are you sure you didn't just pick it up during one of their minute long dead air spots?

  5. Im down below Maryville.

Since moving to Alabama, I have never missed Knoxville more than I do today. Of course, I've missed it while having to watch UT games on the internet, but today is the worst. First Fulton championship I've missed.FG by DL. DL 17, Fulton 12.Looks like my prediction of FHS 30, DL 24 has no shot at holding up.

  6. You'll be saying that for years to come. /roflol.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":roflol:" border="0" alt="roflol.gif" />

BTY chris leak was less than 6 foot troy smith was right at 6 foot and don't forget flutie but most of the rational thinker forsee randal at wr or db.

It doesn't matter what "rational thinkers" foresee. It matters what his coaches see, and UT is telling him that he will have every opportunity to stay at QB.

Perhaps they are just telling him what he wants to hear, but current indications are that he is being recruited as a legitimate QB. If UT wants to open a significant pipeline to Alcoa (and that looks like a very wise decision), then they will let Cobb come in and compete after a redshirt.

  7. I think GC does a good job for what he has. I think Maryville understands that DB is the best team in upper east tn year in and year out. It is amazing though the difference in talent as compared to upper east tn and to Knoxville. THat is just how it is though. Knoxville and the rest of the state seem to have more talent. However, DB counters that with depth (100) strong and good solid coaching. However,a team like ooltewah for instance can have 40 players and much more talent. GC has many players, but the with the talent he has (which I consider less than the Knox area) he does a great job.

I don't know that I agree with this. Graham has his fair share of athletes, or at least he did when I lived there in 2000. Truth is, DB has the majority of the good athletes in that area year in and year out.

  8. Congrats Fulton on that big win against us last night i didn't think we was going to lose and if we did not by that much. Yall came out and jumped on us quick and we couldn't overcome that. Our O-line couldn't block yall D-line so which had Mason running for his life all night. If yall play DL like yall played PC last night then yall have a great shot to repeat as state champs. So again good luck next week and oh yeah yall was right [EAST RUNS MIDDLE AGAIN THIS YEAR]

I'm curious about your response to the fans who've had such horrible experiences at PC? As a PC fan, is this something you notice? Why, in your opinion, is it such a horrendous environment?

I've only seen one other environment that comes close to what's being explained by others, and that's when Fulton traveled to Happy Valley in the early 90's. That was scary. There were 6 cops stationed to each side of our stands, and we were advised to get out of there immediately after the game ended.

It's sad that high school sports are subject to this.

  9. Man don't get me started on bogus ranking services scout, rival, etc. I think those guys have done more bad than good. Colleges put so much stock in their predictions and sometimes the product is a kid that had parents who can send him to a camp and he has a good workout. That type of performance does not always translate well on a football field though. I think Notre Dame and UT may have felt the impact of some of the bogus ratings.

    Yeah, that happens sometimes.

On a totally unrelated (to our discussion, though completely applicable to this thread) note, what about Graham Clark to Hoover?

I know, I know, he's happy in Kingsport.... just trying to get a rise out of you! But, hey, it's no more far fetched than some of the other names being thrown out there.

  10. Prattville is a somthing else are they not? I don't know for 100% sure hosak, but based on the money, the amount of talent TN puts out, etc; it is just hard to think that TN ball could be a constant contender there. I have seen some good out of state teams play and thought that a DB, Maryville, MBA, BA, etc could play them tough. It is hard to know. One of the most boring and unimpressive games I ever saw was a Brentwood vs Ravenwood game a couple or few years ago. It was so boring and slow (team speed seemed that way to me) that I was ready to leave. I think there was maybe 3 scores. However, Ravenwood went on to win the gold ball and I could have sworn it was a senior citizens game out there. Boring as heck, but they played good assignment football and it worked.

Yeah, Prattville is very good. I do think that they'd win in any classification in TN this year. I don't think Spain Park stays within 3 TD's of them, though this entire region has surpised me a bit during the playoffs.

ON another note... I am not at all impressed with Tyler Love. I have no idea how Rivals has him ranked as the #21 overall prospect in America this year. I like Tyler as a kid, but I have not seen anything other than his size that would lead me to think he is an elite prospect. Against Tuscaloosa County, he had no answers for Sewell, who blew past him on at least 4 plays that I counted. Against Homewood, I watched a series in which he was beaten twice by the DE on an outside speed rush, once to the inside on a nifty little twist, and he completely whiffed on a block on a screen play. Mtn Brook probably ran the ball AWAY from his side 70% of the time.

Again, he is a great kid.. intelligent, polite, and extremely likeable. Just not sure he's truly an elite prospect. Size and agility count for something, though, and with good coaching, he has a chance to develop. But, I've seen nothing more than the same talent I saw in the Bruhin's at Powell.
