  1. And, just so we're clear... The consensus from fans of other schools is that Fulton should be fored to play outside of its classification simply because they are better than everyone else? They've averaged 83.5 points so far against two teams in higher classifications already. What good is that going to do? It's silly that jealous fans want to punish the Falcons simply because they are better than your teams are.
  2. If Fulton is getting kids from outside their zone, isn't that a Knox County Schools issue? And the question I'd follow up with is this: WHY, pray tell, would KCS make that exception for Fulton? Now, if it's allowed because kids are coming into the vocational system at Fulton, I don't see what the problem is. The rumors and innuendo are nothing more than jealous fans who cannot grasp that this staff works really hard to develop the great athletes who come through the pipeline. And they come from fans who clearly don't understand the level of integrity that this staff possesses. These men are coaches, teachers, and most of all, mentors who demonstrate class and integrity to their players. As much as they want these young men to win State Championships, they want them to be good men. And, for the record, it's my understanding that Quarles is the one who doesn't want the Fulton/Maryville matchup to happen. (And this is coming from someone who would know.) I don't bring that up to besmirch Quarles, as I believe that he and his staff are every bit the men of integrity that Fulton's staff is.
  3. Last night, in fact. Of course, Birmingham is no Knoxville. Oh, how I miss Spicy's.
  4. Congrats DL. You played well today, and you played with fewer mistakes. That's a tough combination for any team to overcome. Congrats Falcons for a good year. I remember when 1-9 or 2-8 was the norm at Fulton. Buck and his staff have done a wonderful job building a state power on Broadway. It just wasn't to be this year. Anybody wanna go for a 3rd straight title game next year?
  5. Fulton's offense playing well so far this half. Cobb is carrying the Falcons, literally. Touchdown Fulton. Conversion failed. Fulton leads DL by a score of 18-17 with 5:24 left. Perhaps my prediction of FHS 30, DL 24 might hold up!
  6. Fulton throws another pick on a trick play. DL takes a knee, and goes to half up 17-12.
  7. Mapp... glad to help. YOu sure it isn't working? Mine is working fine. Are you sure you didn't just pick it up during one of their minute long dead air spots?
  8. Field sounds slick. Lots of slips so far today. Fulton with a nice gain on a screen. Timeout Fulton, near mid field.
  9. Since moving to Alabama, I have never missed Knoxville more than I do today. Of course, I've missed it while having to watch UT games on the internet, but today is the worst. First Fulton championship I've missed.FG by DL. DL 17, Fulton 12.Looks like my prediction of FHS 30, DL 24 has no shot at holding up.
  10. Come on, Falcons, get the big stop here. 4th down Lipscomb. Timeout DL.
  11. Canadian... where is East TN are you?
  12. TD Fulton. 2 pt conversion is no good, DL 14, Fulton 12.
  13. Go to the coacht hmepage, and there is a link litsted under the game. Streaming audio.
  14. DL throws a pick, and after a nice run, another penalty. Fulton 1st and 10 at the Lipscomb 43.
  15. Another pick by Fulton, who is hurting itself with mistakes. You cannot make this many mistakes and expect to beat DL. End of 1: DL 14, Fulton 6
  16. I agree... Lipscomb sounds very good right now. Fulton's defense holds, while DL shoots themselves in the foot with penalties.
  17. It doesn't matter what "rational thinkers" foresee. It matters what his coaches see, and UT is telling him that he will have every opportunity to stay at QB. Perhaps they are just telling him what he wants to hear, but current indications are that he is being recruited as a legitimate QB. If UT wants to open a significant pipeline to Alcoa (and that looks like a very wise decision), then they will let Cobb come in and compete after a redshirt.
  18. Keep predictions in the other thread. This one is for Game Updates ONLY.
  19. There always has to be one guy whose team did not make it trying to rain on the guys parade whose team did. Congrats. You are THAT guy.
  20. I don't know that I agree with this. Graham has his fair share of athletes, or at least he did when I lived there in 2000. Truth is, DB has the majority of the good athletes in that area year in and year out.
  21. I'm curious about your response to the fans who've had such horrible experiences at PC? As a PC fan, is this something you notice? Why, in your opinion, is it such a horrendous environment? I've only seen one other environment that comes close to what's being explained by others, and that's when Fulton traveled to Happy Valley in the early 90's. That was scary. There were 6 cops stationed to each side of our stands, and we were advised to get out of there immediately after the game ended. It's sad that high school sports are subject to this.
  22. Yeah, that happens sometimes. On a totally unrelated (to our discussion, though completely applicable to this thread) note, what about Graham Clark to Hoover? I know, I know, he's happy in Kingsport.... just trying to get a rise out of you! But, hey, it's no more far fetched than some of the other names being thrown out there.
  23. Yeah, Prattville is very good. I do think that they'd win in any classification in TN this year. I don't think Spain Park stays within 3 TD's of them, though this entire region has surpised me a bit during the playoffs. ON another note... I am not at all impressed with Tyler Love. I have no idea how Rivals has him ranked as the #21 overall prospect in America this year. I like Tyler as a kid, but I have not seen anything other than his size that would lead me to think he is an elite prospect. Against Tuscaloosa County, he had no answers for Sewell, who blew past him on at least 4 plays that I counted. Against Homewood, I watched a series in which he was beaten twice by the DE on an outside speed rush, once to the inside on a nifty little twist, and he completely whiffed on a block on a screen play. Mtn Brook probably ran the ball AWAY from his side 70% of the time. Again, he is a great kid.. intelligent, polite, and extremely likeable. Just not sure he's truly an elite prospect. Size and agility count for something, though, and with good coaching, he has a chance to develop. But, I've seen nothing more than the same talent I saw in the Bruhin's at Powell.
