  1. For the record, I never stated that TN football is on the same level as AL football on the whole. I am merely pointing out that the elite teams in TN could compete in 6A here. That is all. I have watched Mtn Brook absolutely destroy inner city teams with better athletes because of poor coaching. That said, they would not enjoy that clear advantage against Gary, Buck, or George. Again, AL high school football probably is a level above TN high school football. I'm just not so sure that the elite teams in TN would be "middle of the pack", as you describe.
  2. Bud... I never said that these teams were Central or Halls. I don't question that Central and Halls could not compete in 6A here. But, I stand by what I said. I have watched 6A football in Alabama up close every week this year, and I am not overly impressed. I have yet to see one team that could match Alcoa or Fulton for team speed. In fact, the speed in this region is pretty laughable. Vestavia Hills simply is not that good a team. Spain Park is pretty good. Hoover is okay, though they were down a bit this year. Mountain Brook did not impress me at all until Morgan Ogilvie got healthy, and at that point, they became a different team. Still, if you were to send down Alcoa, Fulton, Maryville, Catholic, and even Farragut, those teams would line up well in this region. Maybe not year in and year out, but this year they would. Sure, there are guys here who are Division 1 recruits, but the TEAMS have not been overly impressive. Now, Prattville is probably a different story. Maryville would likely lose to them. However, anyone who thinks that Maryville couldn't come down and compete in this classification is fooling themselves. Same for Alcoa and Fulton. None of them would be playing for their 3rd consecutive titles, but all would be playoff contenders.
  3. Do you even watch Alabama 6A football? I do, every week. As a Hoover resident (former Knoxvillian) who is closely associated with Mountain Brook, I can tell you that Maryville would have no trouble competing in 6A down here. None. I'd bet that if Fulton, Alcoa and Maryville came into the region that Hoover plays in, they would have finished 1-2-3. The team that won the Region (Vestavia Hills) is similar to Knoxville West. I don't think that making an assumption from 200 miles away based on what you've seen on MTV is a good idea.
