  1. Gotta think that Oneida would be doing a lot better with Yaden coaching. From what it sounds like, the coaching now is suspect at best.
  2. Bulldogs are starting to come together in time for tournaments. But what about the rest of the district, how are they looking? Coalfield is looking stronger, Oneida looks like the team to beat, OS is starting to play better, but what about Oakdale Sunbright, and Jellico? Oakdale has seemed to struggle lately after looking strong early on. Any insights? Also, Sunbright seems to be up and down with results, is it just lack of talent this season?
  3. It looks like the district is starting to take shape a bit more clearly. 1) Oneida 2) Jellico 3) Wartburg 4) Coalfield 5) OS 6) Oakdale 7) Sunbright Looks like the top 4 on the list will be representing the district in the region. A few questions to anyone who knows more than me a very biased Bulldogs fan , I missed a lot of games this season, 1) is Coalfield that good? 2) What has happened to Oakdale? Early they seemed to be doing really well, but have lost several games lately. Injuries maybe? 3) Is the West kid back for Oneida, and did he play when Wartburg beat them?
  4. Oneida did look really good last night, but I thought the dogs played very good as well. Did I see right that Coalfield beat Scott Co, who beat Jellico? Coalfield might be a sleeper this year as well. Heard as well that Oakdale beat OS pretty soundly last night as well. Yes, this could be a real toss up come tournament time. Who will be HOT then?!?!?!
  5. Now that all teams have their football players back, and things are pretty much in full swing, the district looks like it is taking shape. 1) Jellico (Seems to be the clear favorite right now) 2) Oneida (Beat Oakdale, and could upend Jellico) 3) Coalfield (played Grace pretty tough) 4) Oakdale 4) Wartburg 6) Oliver Springs 7) Sunbright
  6. Yes, it is looking like the Dogs will not be as strong as I thought relative to the other teams in the district. Also did not realize that Coalfield would be that strong this year, so it sounds like it may be a two team race (Jellico and Oneida w/ their whiner of a coach), and then everybody else fighting for a region spot. It should be interesting.
  7. Wartburg beat Harrmian by 5 or so, and pounded Greenback, but I don't think those are necessarily "big wins" this year. I feel the district might shake out like this: 1) Jellico 2) Oneida 3) Wartburg 4) Oakdale 5) Oliver Springs 6) Coalfield 7) Sunbright I think Jellico wins the tournament as well, but the region qualifiers are Jellico, Wartburg, OS, and Sunbright
  8. Class A at Alcoa this Saturday is quite large. If I remember correctly here are the groups (not 100% on the order): McCreary (KY) Wartburg Unaka HArriman Oliver Springs Oneida Johnson County Stone Memorial Williamsburg Independent (KY) Cloudland Hampton Any thoughts on the finish (1st, 2nd, 3rd)? Other awards (Color Guard, Drum Major, Drumline)?
  9. Are you saying someone thinks that a team that made it to the state semifinals 2 years ago isn't well coached? I would love for my Bulldogs to be poorly caoched and make it to the semis. Like membersonlyyellowjacket said, I don't like OS either, but they seem to be coached fairly well. It would interesting to know how the person you talked to is connected to the football program (parent, fan, etc) and if it is just sour grapes, or the real deal about the coaching.
  10. Been hearing that Oakdale is going to do big things this year in football. But honestly, it's going to be OZ in a rout in my opinion. I think the Eagles might get Jellico this year, but the rest of the district is still too far ahead of them with talent.
  11. Some upsets last night have the current standings looking like this: 1) Wartburg (9-0) 2) Sunbright (6-2) 3) Oneida (5-3) 4) Oliver Springs (4-5) 5) Coalfield (3-6) 6) Jellico (3-6) 7) Oakdale (0-8)
  12. Dogs handled Harriman last night so may have to slide Tellico to 3 spot and Midway to 4 spot , and Harriman out of the region.
  13. What has happened to Jellico since the Christmas break? Looks like they have taken a nose dive. Standings in my opinion as of now. 1) Wartburg- Will win district, and play Rockwood for region title. 2) Oneida- Will lose in region to Grace 3) Sunbright- Will upset Oneida in district, and then lose to Rockwood in region semis 4) Coalfield- 4th in distrcit, lose to Rockwood in regions 5) Jellico- What has happened? 6) OS- Should jump above Jellico after next meeting 7) Oakdale- In 2 years, they could be really tough. Other District tournament predictions 1) Rockwood- Lose in region finals to Wartburg 2) Grace- Beat Oneida, lose to Wartburg in region semis 3) Harriman-Lose to Sunbright in regions 4) Tellico-Lose to Wartburg in regions
  14. Glad to see our Bulldogs are in the Top 5!!! Way to go!!! We have one of the best players in the State in Fountain.
  15. Ok, revision again. Here is what I see: 1) Wartburg- Beat Oneida last night (Oneida shot about 1-25 from 3pt range) 2) Oneida- Had a terrible night shooting against the Dogs. 3) Jellico- Has handled tehir business so far. 4) Sunbright- Still think the will be strong late in season. 5/6) Coalfield and OS- Hard to determine until they play. This is an important spot as to who would have to go to Jellico or Sunbright first round of districts. 7) Oakdale- Very young. Looks like they have been struggling.
  16. After seeing the Coalfield score vs Ambassadors the other night I have a question...is Coalfield that good? Or is Ambassadors that bad?
  17. After seeing some results, I think I will move OS up to the 4th spot and Jellico to the 6th. Not dropping Coalfield (because tonight is their first game), but just bumping up OS because they have seemed to be solid earlys on. Also, Jellico has seemed to struggle so far.
  18. What odes everybody think about 4A this season? Thoughts, predictions, all-district team, MVP? Here are my 2 cent worth: 1) Wartburg- Best player, coach, and talent his season. 2) Oneida- Return a lot, but lost Wright kid, but the West kid is a real athlete 3) Sunbright-Very well coached, best team attitude 4) Coalfield-Lost 2 big guns, but have some kids left who can play 5) Jellico-Lose Mallicoate, but a good young nucleus 6) OS- Lost some seniors, and not sure about young kids 7) Oakdale- Very young. Could be Top 3 in two years. MVP- Founatin (WB) 1st Team- West (Oneida), Gunter (SB), Simms (OS), Jeffers (Oneida), Langley (WB)
  19. I don't think Coach Layne is leaving. Coming back with a group that just went to state, and return almost everybody, including a Mr. Basketball finalist. Also, that is a tough job having to try and compete with Alcoa, Stone, and CAK, as well as Loudon and Scott. Will be a hard sell to an established coach, more than likely will be a young guy, or a middle school coach who wants a shot at HS. Local names that come to mind are Bryan Powers (Rockwood Middle) and Thomas Davis (Wartburg Middle).
  20. Big win for the Bulldogs. Now we will upset OS and move on to the 2nd round. Remember last year, OS won during the season, but we got'em during the playoffs.
  21. I am picking the Bulldogs in this one. Wartburg- 31 OS-21
  22. More transfers? What is the story behind that?
  23. 1-Wartburg-The best "TEAM" in the district. they play well together. 2-Oneida-Probably the most talent, but can they play completely as a team? 3-4-5-OS, Sunbright, Coalfield-No particular order. This will depend on how many football players play for OS and Coalfield, and if England does play for Sunbright or not. 6-Oakdale-Don't know how much talent or experience is left. ???-Jellico-Did not put them in because I have heard different stories on Mallicoat. If he is there they are top 3, if not they could be 7th.
  24. And at what level do you coach? About eye level with the TV on Saturdays and Sundays? I think Wartburg is playing much better, and has a chance to pull the upset in this one. Wartburg-27 Coalfield-23
