  1. First of all I agree that more people need to be involved at whatever school their kids attend. You are not the only one who goes to the games and has played college football but I for one have coached football. The coach has a duty to the players to teach the fundamentals of football blocking and tackling, pitching and catching. The coach??™s second responsibility is to the team and school to win games. In order to do that he needs to put the best people on the field that will give him that chance. If there is a personnel problem then the coach needs to handle that and not necessarily by benching a proven player because of ONE disenchanted player who may have a personal motive and not that of the team. If that is the case then the coach is not building a team and is not able to handle what should be nothing more that a minor problem. Football if coached properly will teach team play and will build character. A coach can do more harm by surrendering to a player, parent or assistant coaches who have relatives on the team. If the coach cannot make adjustments during the game or actually come up with a game plan he needs to step down. I for one have not seen any adjustments as far as a game plan in the three games. It has been run three times and punt. Remember LaVergne had us in a lot of third and longs, These are high school players who want to win. They want victory for their team and for their school. The problem is the game plan has not changed from one week to the next. There is talent on the team and they deserve better coaching that what they are getting.
  2. Why Apologize? Blackman was dominated. The run at all cost spread offence was Not effective and there were too many third and long situations that proved to be unsuccessful. I agree if they are going to run the ball then get in a run formation. What they are doing is the same old same old. One pass in the first half and another in the second. If it was not for Riverdale fumbling inside their own ten-yard lines three times and two other touchdowns called back because of penalties the evening would have been more embarrassing than what it was. The Blackman defense was not all that good. They did not stop Riverdale, Riverdale stopped them selves. Blackman has good athletes and some of their best are not on the field. Riverdale did have better coaching. I spoke to one former coach of Riverdale and they were more worried about the passing game than Blackman??™s run game.
  3. You can forget about passing. Blackman has a quarterback who can pass but they want to run the ball and are afraid to stretch the field so he sits on the bench. The Bowers kid is the best ball carrier but he does not get enough touches. We will see a lot of second and third and long and very few passes. I think the talent is equal but based on the past two games Riverdale has the advantage in coaching. That will be the difference in the game.
  4. I would think the 5 to 3 win over LaVergne would have Riverdale shaken in their cleats. Keep in mind the offensive power house Blackman displayed against LC. /thumb[1].gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":thumb:" border="0" alt="thumb[1].gif" />
  5. Otter, You sound like a high school wantabe bully. What do you mean by ???you might be out numbered??? I would think you would show a little more maturity than that of a 10 year old. Without a doubt Bowers is the best athlete on the Blackman team and does not get enough touches. Riverdale is going to load up on defense and plan to stop the run because it is apparent that Blackman is NOT going to PASS and cannot without the Crocker kid. I do not know why all of this bickering is taking place but I can only hope the coach can take a step back and see when it is 2nd and 3rd and long he just might consider passing the ball.
  6. I agree Riverdale will definitely not be out coached. The fact that Blackman will run the ball and refuse to pass on third and long will cost them the game. I think Riverdale will stop Blackman??™s run offence and win by three touchdowns. According to the stats Blackman did not pass at all against L.C. and only 8 times against LaVergne. Blackman has been lucky and it is time for the luck to end.
