and for future knowledge... the band doesnt represent just the football team...they represent the school and the basketball teams....and they also have their own competitions and state championships... they play the whole school year.. so to say they only represent football and their wouldnt be a band if football wasnt their is a misconception... band was around long before football.... and as an ex football player myself... there was nothing better than hearing that band while coming out of the locker room and getting us pumped up before a game.. and during the game.. For any who might be interested that live in the area...Halls high school in northeastern knoxville is having a high school marching band competition saturday sept 22....if you want to see some good bands come out there and see the pride these kids have and what they do...and actually see the stands filled to overflowing.. you will be thouroughly entertained..

Did i read correctly that the game is on saturday around 11 am...

the single wing boiled down to your line..if you have a quick line.. ergo your pulling guards...ends blocking down on linebackers,, your BB and fullback taking out the end...its hard to stop. my senior year we actually added the double wing... where the fullback would either go in motion and line up behind the weak end or the left end...and the tailback was in the backfield alone... bridgeport use to run this type of offense... but just from my point of view... i would not want to be the corner or end having to take on this offense.. when ran correctly and with speed... its virtually unstoppable... and there is so many other plays you can do with it... yea i was sold on the single wing

Hey SP gurus..lol... heard about this site and glad to be a part of it. I dont live in SP anymore.. clear on the otherside of the state now...but i still bleed orange and black...i get to the games when i can since my daughters are in the band... Some things never change and thats good, still contemplating who the best team was.. think im gonna have to go with the 69' team...i was only 1 when they won state,, but growing up and watching films of these guys... those guys were hard nosed and JW was the best pound for pound SP has ever had.. and i agree the man should be honored... David Hale.. cant take anything from him... he was honored as the most feared player in the valley during his time at SP... AS for the quote in the 69 locker room...it was something like this... " Coach we dont need our uniforms...we'll play them in our underwear" per coach grider before our state championship game
