  1. I have been out of town but got to see the game this week. I must say I have noticed some of the kids after they make a play and they want the crowd to know who it was. All that is a kid being a kid and I think we have done that at one point and time. I was vey frustrated at the beginning of the year with the type of offense DB was playing, but the kids still were giving 100%. I feel the team can win a couple of playoff games. A key to this post season is we have been fortunate with injuries. I know we have some kids banged up, but they want to play.
  2. Good point! We need to get a passing game established. I believe we can run against any team, but we need to mix things up in order to be successful down the stretch. I still say we need to get Sylvester out and throw the ball to him. His height is a small problem, but the kid can up in the air and is very fast. We are struggling at that position and he will catch the ball. Another thought, UT did play smash mouth football against a pretty good team. I'm old fashion when it comes down toit(run it down their throat and then dump a little pass to mix it up)! I see DB by 17 in this one.
  3. I know the family well. Dad is a good friend of mine! By the way, you mentioned the sister, maybe that's why the boy can hold his own since she beat up on him for so many years. HAHAHAHAHAHA!! You never know who might be on the other side of the keyboard.
  4. 3 was released from the team I hear, 25 is out for the year and 17 is not in the same ball park as 45 and 9. Pendleton should be a starter no doubt. He and Lawson had a great JV year as Soph's. Both of these kids have more ball smarts and talent than the Soph that plays in front of them. He will help this team, but like some of the other people have noted, he can only play one way and that is shooting. We will need to have people that can plug the hole and be strong enough to stop that and read the ball of this position. 47 has alot of tackles this year, but most of these are because the ball comes to his side the majority of the time or these are down field tackles. Enough said about these few kids, the problem has been not playing more than 15 or 16 kids for 4 quarters, but I believe the coaching staff has corrected this. I do not see the move with 47 over Baker being that big of a deal nor do I blame Rogan for going to the smaller kid. Both of these kids will play there. It is hard for these coaches to play this many kids, but we are talking about a hand full. All my insight comes from observing these kids for the last several years and not having a kid that plays at this time that I feel should be out there.
  5. You hit the nail on the head!!!! I've made the same statement since coming aboard. Something that is puzzling to me, why do they not have 45 on D? He seems to be a hard hitter and I have talked with a good friend that said they watched him play from Pee Wee till now and he was labeled a head hunter in the early days???????? I will say I spent acouple of days about 50 yards from the shade tree and I saw him and a hand full of others that played the game the way it should be and he is the only one that plays and that is very limited???????? Again, must be one of GC's non picks on the D side of the ball. Also, I know the 21 well and seen him play as a youngster and he will also let it fly.(another Junior) I don't see alot of the Soph and Fresh helping much, but this Junior class has dominated all sports for years! This does not include CS of course.
  6. Great post!!! Again, I could not stress enough how much talent we have on the sidelines. I have had other children play High School sports and it has been the same way. You can't play 15 players and win a football game. You might be able to play close with some teams as we have, but not overcome those mistakes. We have some kids with great heart but we also need some talent, and the senior class is lacking this! DB is going to see some rough roads after these top 2 classes are gone, but they will find a way to stay afloat. I hope to see these guys get deep in the playoffs, but the other teams will be ready for our mishaps.
  7. I am glad to see another positive statement. Kids will make mistakes, this will happen at the next level, I think we are going the right way because our coaching staff has somewhat went back to the basics. We still need to work on our special teams! Again, it has been said by GC that this team has heart, wait until the playoffs baby!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  8. Good prognosis, We still have some kids in late that should not be in there. I like the quote on keeping 3 fresh backs in the game and letting the big FB lead the way. 33 has good speed and can run in the open. Use 45 more to get the good blocks and let the fresh legs get up field. Get some of the other kids in the game earlier!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  9. For those of you who said 32 was a full back and could not run like a half back, I think you can eat those words now. Talking about 4 years, wait until next year with 7 under the center and 45 leading the hole with 32 running wild. Next year you will have 3 threats in those guys. It's about time we saw a couple of the backs run up field. We all know that the Cyclones are rebuilding but we are starting to run the ball like DB can. We still need to work on the pass, but it's hard to do that when we realy don't have a true go to reciever. #10 helps, but I would still like to see him under the center. I said DB by 21, and I also said watch what happens in the playoffs!!!! If a team shuts us completely down on the ground we will struggle.I liked what I saw tonight, again hats off to the D, way to go 65, that's the way to punish the O. Talk about the backs hitting the hole, 65 knows how to slobberknock!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  10. I havenotseen the Sophmore class play much, but you are right, we have some very talented Juniors that never see any time. The #30 is a Senior and has not had a very good showing at all. He did run the ball very well, but did this on the 2nd or 3rd D. We do need to use some of these other kids on special teams and when the game is out of reach. Normally the staff gets other people in there but maybe the confidence is low.
  11. Good point on the special teams! Our sprcial teams have turned around 2 games that if we don't fumble and score we may win the game. If we are punted to inside the red zone, we need to clear out. If we play a team that stacks against the run and we are in the "I" or power "I" we can still push forward and then the pass will open. We have 2 strong FB's that can help on the short runs. Now if we run under the center against WB they would not have stopped the short game. Just like against JC on 3rd and 2 we had Lawson in at back and we lined up in the shotgun and run a screen to him and it failed. The way the run was pushing, we should have went with him up the gut. Again, I think this was a poor play selection from the staff!
  12. I think you are correct. If our offense had been clicking all year like last night I would say this would be an easier contest, but since we have shown no consistancy, I feel this will be a test for us to show we are back in line and on the right track. I know alot of these kids personally and this bunch has alot of heart and can get better. Again, the key is that the coaching staff use the talent they have across the board and not go back to the 14 to 15 kids for 4 quarters. DB has some talented Seniors tha t scan benifit this team and the Junior clas s is very solid. From the looks of the remainder of the season it will not be a cake walk to the finish, but these kids can surprise alot of people come play off time baby!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  13. He did have a good game running the ball. I do agre e with the passing helping the ground game. I was glad to see th e QB have a good game last night. This should help his confidence and should boost team moral. I would like to see 33 line up as TB with 45 leading on the ISO, this would be a good combo considering this kid can plow the way and likes to hit people. I see DB by 21 Friday night!!!!
  14. If we stay behind the center and continue to use trhe running game up the middle we will open the pass game up. If we do this the previous 3 losses DB is 4-1 at the least. I like hard nose football and when the 2 FB lead the game in rushing that is HARD NOSE!!
