  1. All this chatter and still no box scores... did nobody send them into the paper?
  2. Agreed. I will post the new MatMan rankings tomorrow night.
  3. Space at Clarksville is certainly part of the answer but I doubt it will be much better with the additions to some of the brackets and the girls tournament. However, there were a few changes for DII. DII wrestling has essentially been reclassified into a large and small school division. The large schools will wrestle for the state duals title at Father Ryan. The qualifiers are now 5 schools from East / Middle TN and 3 schools from West TN. The schools that went down and are classified as small schools now wrestle in a small school invitational at Father Ryan. However, this is not for any sanctioned TSSAA state championship if I am correct. They are merely there to test themselves against programs there own size. I could be wrong on some of that as I haven't paid much attention having stayed involved primarily with then schools in the large division but that was the basis of the discussion from what I remember. For example this has caused some changes on the west side of the state that I am aware of. We no longer wrestle a regional duals tournament to determine who falls where for purpose of state duals seeding. It will be solely based on the results of the regional matches. This also eliminates the need for some of the larger schools to wrestle some of the smaller schools in duals (although this does still happen in most cases from what I am aware). I am not totally sure how the East / Middle group is determining their 5. It is up to that group to decide. They could go by tournament finishes, vote, state rankings, etc. Not really sure what they have decided to do. The DII dual brackets break out in the typical 8 team format for the first round where 1's wrestle 4's and 2's wrestle 3's. That works out because the 5th place team from the East / Middle group will become the 4th place team from the West for bracket purposes. That is how it was explained to me at least. I am sure someone can and will correct me if I am wrong on any of that.
  4. One set of rankings can be found at: http://www.tennwrestling.com/rankingscurrent.html
  5. I could get into 100 advantageas and disadvantages of either organization. That said don't let anyone tell you one is better than the other. If you want to get the most out of any youth wrestling experience you will join and be active in both. Given the current landscape of TN wrestling and wrestling across the nation you will need memberships to both to fully take advantage of all your oportunities. Currently different parts of the state wrestle under different organizations for youth wrestling but the AAU is better at holding organized regionals and kid's state tournaments. However, it makes for a long youth season for some to get to them. More people will undoubtedly chime in with opinions and ideas but a large part of it will have to with where you live. However, if you want to have the most opportunities join both so you aren't limited. And that comes from a member of the TWF / USA Wrestling state board.
  6. Just want to be sure you know that Jimmie Childers and all wrestlers from White House actually wrestle in DI and would be irrelevant to any DII conversation as far as state contenders.
  7. The sixth edition of Matman's rankings can now be found at: http://www.tennwrestling.com Just click the link to the rankings on the top menu bar.
  8. I am guessing that nobody has an answer. Sure would help the rankings if we could at least get a full list of place finishers...
  9. The Poll is primarily a measure of dual meet strength with some consideration to individual tournament strength. Votes are cast by a state-wide panel of high school wrestling coaches and are based on a maximum Power Ranking of 100%. 10. I know the brackets for the Father Ryan Invitational have been posted at the FRHS website the last few years. I was hoping they would be so by now so I could finish off my notes for the rankings. I just wanted to make sure they would still be put up. If they are already available somewhere could someone point me in the right direction?
  11. LOL no, no problems in high school but after sitting on the same type of board in college and having to review some tough cases I realized its importance. Not to mention the insistance of a few professors /wink.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=";)" border="0" alt="wink.gif" />
  12. I just like to cite my sources /wink.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=";)" border="0" alt="wink.gif" />
  13. Harry, I think you were in the process of posting when I laid out the follow-up I had on Tyler, didn't want you to miss it, not sure if that is the same person since he isn't on the roster but the weights and the creds seem right. Yes you are right about Chase, I haven't seen anything on him cross the boards yet. Would seem natural he will follow his brothers but he may not.
  14. Gonna file one more quick follow-up via the attached article: http://nwcnews.blogspot.com/2007/11/journey-begins.html A quick google search on "Tyler Osborne college wrestling" turned this up. It would appear as if he is at Northwest College in Wyoming. I tried to check their roster but he wasn't shown there. Still what the article shows seems that he was there at some point recently and competing.
  15. Harry check Boise State for Cuthbertson I am pretty sure you will find him there. I believe some of his family has also committed. They seem to be picking up well on the mormon population. Actually here is a link to the article on Cuthbertson, he isn't on the roster yet but will be there next year I imagine. http://www.broncosports.com/ViewArticle.db...;ATCLID=1330459
  16. Not sure why you called me out here but I have been on some islands way out West and in Nashville for the Ryan Invite. Sorry I was so quite during that time. Back now... more to come later.
  17. Guys, I just thought I would start up a thread where everyone cna throw in some results for TN college guys over the weekend. We need to continue to support the homegrown talent. Perusing the Reno Tournament of Champions brackets I found the following: Raymond Dunning - 133 Adams State College - Former Father Ryan standout goes 6-2 to finish in fifth place. Raymond's 2 loses came to #1 seed Coleman Scott of Oklahoma State via technical fall and #4 seed Mike Grey of Cornell via 11-4 decision. Dunning recorded 2 falls, 1 technical fall, 1 major, 1 decision, and 1 medical forfeit on the day. Spencer Manley - 149 Naval Academy - The former McCallie School standout put together a 4-2 day to finish in fourth place. En route to his semi-final 4-1 decision lose to #1 seed (and tournament champion) Scott Ervin of Appalachian State, Manley recorded 2 technical falls and 1 decision. Manley then picked up another decision in the consolation semi-finals before falling to Naval Academy teammate Bryce Saddoris 3-2 in the consolation finals. Jordan Leen - 157 Cornell University - The former Baylor School standout went 3-0 on the day en route to claiming the tournament title. Leen picked up a 2-0 decision in the finals over #2 seed Chase Pami of Cal Poly to add to his one other decision and major decision for the tournament. Leen received a bye in the first round. Great job by these guys in showing that guys from TN can move on and continue to compete at the next level. Who else knows how things went down?
  18. The new MatMan rankings for DI and DII have been posted at the TWF website along with the Coach's Poll. The link below will take you straight to the homepage (just click on rankings from there):www.tennwrestling.com Remember if you think rankings could be more accurate send in more results!
  19. No purple zebras but I do know what your problem is (other than the early meeting!). Click the options button near the upper right corner. You are currently in outline mode. You want to be in standard mode. Your welcome!
  20. Indeed I see no difference recently here BCB... what gives? Did you have your meeting too early today?
  21. RANK - SCHOOL - POWER RANKING - STANDING LAST WEEK 1 - BAYLOR - 94 - 1 2 - BRADLEY CENTRAL - 94 - 2 3 - FATHER RYAN - 81 - 4 4 - CHRISTIAN BROTHERS - 67 - 5 5 - CLEVELAND - 61 - 3 6 - OOLTEWAH - 59 - 6 7 - FRANKLIN - 45 - 12 8 - BRENTWOOD - 39 - 7 9 - SODDY DAISY - 33 - 11 10 -CLARKSVILLE - 23 - 10 11 - NOTRE DAME - 17 - 8 12 - OVERTON - 13 - 9 Others receiving votes: BRENTWOOD ACADEMY, EAST LITERATURE, GREENEVILLE, MONTGOMERY BELL ACADEMY, RED BANK, SEYMOUR
  22. Lets see if I can pull it all together from memory: Team - 5th Overall The medalists were: 103 - Blake Hataway 5th 112 - Daniel Baucke 1st 119 - Alex Johnson 2nd 130 - Zach Johnson 6th 135 - Zack Hanniford 6th (defaulted to 6th) 140 - David Crislip 5th 145 - Peter Bonilla 5th 160 - George Harmon 3rd 171 - Billy Sanvidge 6th 285 - Ben Duffell 4th along with two others who finished 7th or 8th. Now see that wasn't that hard, who else can give some information?
  23. Everyone, I don't know why it is so difficult this year to get wrestling results e-mailed or posted but it is beginning to get a little hard to rankings. I know that most teams in the state competed this weekend and we haven't seen the results from very many. From a DII perspective this is what I know and what I am missing: Baylor - Believe they were inactive so they get a pass, if not send me the results! BGA - Where were they? Haven't received any results all year long... are they doing anything this year? Brentwood Academy - where were they? Haven't received results all year, don't even know what kids are at what weights at this point. I know they have been in a couple of tournaments (mostly duals I think) but those results have been very, very sparse. I do know the results from the Harpeth tourney. Briarcrest - did they do anything? CBHS - Were in MO over the weekend and I have their results Ensworth - did they do anything? Father Ryan - @ McCallie Invitational - brackets posted Harding Academy - saw a dual with SBA, anything else? Knoxville Webb - don't even know some of their weights but have received some information MBA - @ McCallie Invitational - brackets posted McCallie - @ McCallie Invitational - brackets posted MUS - did they do anything? PJP II - I think they were at the Chatt Central tourney, any results worth posting? SAS - what have they been up to this year? haven't heard a thing all year... SBA - I believe they were at the Tullahoma duals, any results? St. George - hosted a middle school tournament so probably inactive, have seen some dual meet results. That is just going down the list in DII. I know the DI guys have the results from Bradley and McCallie. Anyone want to provide anything else? Remember that if you don't want to post results you can send them to the rankings guys.
  24. Just to give an answer to one of the questions: CBHS finished 5th in the always tough Cape Giragdeau tournament in MO.
  25. StarRaider, You canf ind the current coaches poll (team rankings) in the 2nd post on this thread. I put it there. The TWF site (www.tennwrestling.com) has traditionally included the coaches poll team rankings with the individual. As the webmaster I can tell you that we will do so once again beginning with the next rankings. I was not receiving the state coaches poll to post it but that has now been corrected.
