  1. Wonder what Pigeon Forge and GP will be like next year. (New district.) Understand PF started all but 2 or 3 seniors and GP started 4 or 5 seniors. Rumor mill says that younger Watson is transferring to Sevier County. Any truth to that?
  2. I'm not a reporter so enlighten us. So what am I leaving out? It's always next year? Seems you can't get anything right, not even the outcome of Rutledge and Union. What you really need to do is make a bonfire out of that ole rusty van, get you some cheese to go with that cheap wine (understand that's what they make with sour grapes!) and sit back and watch the fire.
  3. Couldn't you get anyone to agree with you?
  4. Haven't heard but GP played without him earlier this year and won. So GP, PF,Rutledge, and Union left. No one from Claiborne County but we get to drive to Claiborne County 2 years in a row. Makes a lot of sense.
  5. So let's see if I understand this. CG beat PF 63-47 then 62-48 then about a week later loses in the opening round of the district tourney. I'd vote for him for coach of the year. So in a weeks time CG went from 1st to home? Is that right? I guess they really love those Sevier Co. teams. GP ends their football season and then PF ends their basketball season. Was CG overlooking PF and forward to the rematch with GP? One would like to say, what goes around comes around but I will refrain from pouring salt in their open wounds. Who won the other boys game, Rutledge or Claiborne? PS BEARCLAW was there any dancing last night?
  6. GP by 8. But depends on the consistancy of his young players. (Blew a big lead against Karns.) But with more PT they will learn how to hold leads and finish. If GP's coach utilizes his bench and forces a running game it might be a high scoring game tonight. Wander if Rutledge has the bench for a fast pace game?
  7. I've tried my best to stay out of this but just can't. You guys are pathetic. How would you know what any one is basing their statements on. Have you ever thought it might be their own experiences (experiences not to be confused with loses) and first hand knowledge. Here is part of the guys post: "According to what Alcoa turned in to TSSAA, enrollment in '04 was 411 then '06 increased to 473. Now in '07 it is 386. That's an increase of about 6 students in 27 years if my math is correct. (Since I'm a loser I'm not real good at math.) See why one might question? Now care to address the other issues? Alcoa has an excellent football tradition. Why would anyone from Alcoa have to stoop to downing other programs (example:everyone else in 2A we've faced but CAK really is only a good 1A team or we beat GP 59-36 but here are the excuses we only scored 59 and they scored 36...........). Alcoa's good, real good. Leave it there and don't down other programs and young men." Why can't anyone explain instead of giving excuses. Most Alcoa posters have done nothing but ignore the truths made or give excuses or downing their competition. (example, every but CAK is a good 1a team not a 2a team) Anyone that knows anything about football knows Alcoa is good you don't have to make others look worse to make your team look even better. Take a little time if you don't believe me and go back and previous threads and see how many times questions have gone unanswered but instead excuses were made. Great example: "What team not named Maryville has scored 36 on Alcoa over the last 3 years?" Never answered, only excuses why a team that noone predicted to score more than 2 tds did. I know, I know all the excuses you don't need to restate. How many teams scored 36 on your 3rd and 4th stringers? Second, the syrupy love between all the Alcoa fans and Maryville fans is sweet. Anyone around Blount Co. knows that the last thing either team wants is the other to succeed. Lord forbid you might lose future athletes to them. Last, I issue a challenge to Alcoa. I know its not about this thread. Someone on a previous thread made the statement "It's all about the kids". I think not. If it was Alcoa would not continue to have athletes that do not meet the minimum NCAA standards. In this day and time it should not continually happen (occasionly maybe). My challenge is that Alcoa institute a program to fix this problem that has actually gone on for decades. I'm sure we will read many excuses but remember "it's all about the kids". If it is address it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  8. Now there's an UNDERSTATEMENT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Have you never been to Cocke County???????????????????????????? As far as Coach Duncan not being able to coach and need the refs help, Coach Duncan may have had his problems over the years but not knowing how to coach is not one of them. For anyone to say he can't coach.........well there's only one thing to say...........you don't know much about basketball. Don't agree with everything the man has done over the years and have had some good battles with his teams but the man knows basketball.
  9. Heard GP is working hard this week putting in some gimmick defenses to stop McBee. Of course I'm not there so I'm having to use the eyes and ears of others. From what I've been told one of those D's is to put a pretty good defender on McBee and attempt to hold him to average and shut down the other four. I'm sure this will be easier said than done. From what KevB1990 says not sure they can stop their post but understand they plan on rotating their posts so that they have fresh men guarding them. GP has used 7 different post so far effectively. What a luxury Coach P has to have 7 guys from a 5' 10" Soph, 3 6' 0" Juniors, a 6'5" Junior, and 2 6'1" Seniors that have all played effectively at times for him at post (yes a couple of these do play guard some) and getting better with each minute of playing time they get. Yes GP is legit 10 deep. Expect to see them all Friday night. Difference in the game could very well be GP's bench. Inexperience and youth has hurt them at times as seen against Karns. Look for this to change as those young guys get PT. Keep rotating them Coach P. You will see the rewards later in the season if not sooner. Now to change subject a little. Granted Friday's GP-Rutledge game is a big district game but what about the rest of the district. How are they doing? Thougt CG should be a team to beat. Granted they lost a little more than I first thought but had a pretty good group of JVers last year. How bout it? Where are the rest of the district posters? We would like updates from you as well.
  10. But how good were the four teams? Be careful with your stats. "Figures never lie, liars only figure."
  11. I've seen it before!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! 30 or 40 years ago. Most coaches learned a long time ago that to do something like that to motivate your team usually works well. Only thing is that it usually motivates the other team!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  12. Had to edit and change "lasted year". Thought you were a writer? Thought I saw where you corrected someone elses mistake. (People in glass houses shouldn't throw stones.) Feeble attempt to avoid the statement. You may say your age range. Who would believe you?
  13. Let's not go there because if you do someone will bring up the nocall on the play before where it appeared possible that GP's TE would have a TD. As stated earlier, Rutledge did what was necessary to win and did. Leave it at that. Good luck to Rutledge the rest of the season and good luck to GP.
  14. 15 Point lead was not a fluke. GP hurt themselves with 3 fumbles. Although, Rutledge only got points off of 1 of those. It still stopped drives by GP. One of those inside the 5. Would it have made a difference? Don't know and will never know. Yes the clock operator was an official and yes he did consistently let 3 or 4 seconds run off the clock after the umpire cut the time. Would it have made a difference? Again noone will ever know. I would be more concerned though with why the officials did not grant GP a timeout after the last play. They still had 1 and there was time left. All of this is a mute point any way though because Rutledge won 28-22. One would have to give it to them, they did what they had to do to win the game. Congrats to them. One of the better teams Rutledge has had in recent years. McBee kid is a very good athlete and running backs did a good job all night.
  15. Thanks for clearing that up. I wasn't sure since I couldn't find you on the roster for either school. What does CN have to do with this?
