  1. I believe the score was 47-20. Riverdale didn't score in the second half. Sounds like some nice adjustments were made at the half. WC freshmen have won 6 in a row and are 7-2 on the season. Averaging 35 points per game and only allowing 14! They have a good coach that understands how to open up the offense and call plays based on the skilled players they have and not be so predictable! They feed off of comments like the one above, so "Thank You."
  2. For those of you who where at the game, a few questions. Who looked to have the most talent? Why did WC run out the clock in the first half with all their time outs and the ball at mid-field with over a minute to go and their kicker had all ready nailed a 45 yarder? What about the pass interference call in the first half against WC when the reciever couldn't have caught the ball if he was on a motercycle because it was so far overthrown? Did Coach Thompson put on a coaches clinic or what? How can LC be in a prevent defense at the end of the game and three D Lineman still get to the QB?
  3. You are right on the money with your reply. If you are young enough to have played in the games the last two years and have this kind of knowledge your an exceptional young man. We have been trying to figure this thing out for a long time. WC continues to have a lot of talent and the middle school program for the most part has had outstanding years, but when they get to high school the numbers fall off and we are lucky to have 45 on the varsity football team. A good example is that last year our middle school went 9-0 and won the Central Tennesse Championship and it was mostly due to having 32 8th graders and this year only 19 of them return to play with the freshmen team. I've heard all kinds of reasons: girls, cars, broken homes and that kids now a days just don't want to work hard! In the past there was a lot of talk about the youth programs. We had one traveling league and one local league and everyone argued which was better for the kids. We've had several coaching changes over the last 10 years and have had some big name coaches apply, but were not hired. Each coach has came in with a different idea as to why we are in this slump, but we still are in a rut and really as you said earlier only beating weaker teams. Being your age, what do you think is the main problem and how would you fix it? I hope both teams play hard tonight and may the best team win!
  4. I hate to say it also, but you have several good points. As far as saying you could beat several of teams WC has played with a pop warner team, well I think shows poor judgement because high school programs should be given more respect than that even if it was true. Dekalb and White counties are neighboring counties and they have played them for years. Lincoln Co. is regarded as a great football team year in and year out and Coach Thompson is a class act. Don't take WC seriously and see what happens Friday night. If I recall last year LC won 17-0 and the year before that was an overtime game which LC won 23-17. As far as WC dreaming of beating Riverdale or Blackman that maybe a reality in the near future. WC freshmen beat Riverdale by 4 touchdowns a few weeks ago and barely lost to Blackman which has a good of freshmen team as there is 14-0.
  5. I've seen other posts about WC scheduling. Just to let some of them know, Ensworth is on thier schedule. Yeah, the first few games wasn't against powerhouse teams, but who is from top to bottom? You should see thier Freshmen schedule. Cookeville, Soddy Daisy, Riverdale, Blackman and Coffee Co to name a few. WC has made huge improvements and is working hard to build the program back to were it once was.
  6. WC is 5-2. The two losses were Coffee Co. & Tullahoma. Wins were Dekalb Co., Franklin Co., White Co., Cumberland Co. and Shelbyville.
  7. The SD player Kyle Odum had a concussion and has a severe neck & back sprain. A WC booster member talked with his mother yesterday. WC's QB (#1 Thrower) will undergo surgery to repair broken collar bone Friday @ Baptist hospital and Tyler Glenn (#12) MRI was negative. So pretty good news considering what the outcome could have been. A lot of rumors going around, but these are facts.
  8. Does anyone know the status of the injured SD player who was transported to hospital by ambulance? Several other players were injured in a very physical game. #15 for SD has a broken collar bone and two WC players #1 (QB) Thrower broke his collar bone in two places and seperated shoulder and #12 Glenn has knee injury and will have MRI today. Please keep these fine young men in your thoughts and prayers!
  9. I agree with Phoeniz27. The "Pit" does have a certain atmosphere to it! Warren Co. has made some changes since their two losses and the players and coaches need to prepare for a battle Friday night. This is a "Huge" game as far as the region goes.
  10. Who will win & why? Play makers on either team that will make a difference?
  11. What about Soddy Daisy freshmen? Record? Studs?
  12. Tony Garibaldi is the real deal! Not to mention one of the best soccer players in the midstate. The word is that he has had several offers for both sports and is not sure which one he wants to go with. I don't think any of his kickoffs have been returnable and I have personaly seen him make field goals of 55+. I'd love to see him in Orange & White the next several years. GO VOLS!
  13. Wow! Far and above? That's pretty strong words. Give us some insight on your thinking and how many freshmen teams you have seen play this year. No disrespect, just want to hear more.
  14. What's up with this Thrower kid? Is he that good of a QB?
