  1. yea ill take my crow 2 congrats gp on a great game against rockwood and good luck next week with cg
  2. i know that we played you'll in the regular season in i believe 01 & 02 and beat you all pretty good, and after that we never heard from you again. yeah u tried to beef up ur schedule by getting one of the worse teams in 3a tellico and a rebuilding team in sequoyah, but until u beat a sweetwater, loudon, cak, etc. i dont think u can talk about the playoffs and stuff getting to the game though rockwood is a physical team which i know gp would rather play than a finesse team. i dont know what the weather will be like but i can probably guess it'll be muddy. i've heard that gp has a good offense but can it score on rockwood and will gp be able to stop 41 and the qb. my guess is that rockwood plays a tough physical game and wins by 2 tds and then makes it all the way to the quarterfinals
  3. i would almost bet that a 1a midway team could handle the 3a tellico bears and give 3a sequoyah a really close game. just b/c there 3a doesn't mean anything, so rockwood is def played a tougher schedule than gp. o yea going back to the wet field. i guess it came severe thunderstorms every year before the playoffs b/c in 04 and 06 it looked like hurricane andrew had came through there.
  4. i just bet that gp is glad that sweetwater won't end their playoffs this year like the last 2 go rockwood
  5. i don't think that rhodes will come back to football, i believe he enjoys what he's doing right now as asst. principal. futhermore, if memory serves me right he really didn't want the job in the first place. after dupps retired the heir apparent was breeden, and some events took place and rex took over the helm. i also did notice this thread got some pub in the advocate today, i for one am not calling for "staff's head" i just think when u have a team with as much talent this year and u underperform who do u look @ the head ball coach. now, is it all his fault we have no idea; i just think that sweetwater should be in the top teir with alcoa, cak, loudon, etc. not having to fight its way into the playoffs
  6. warchief you're exactly right monroe county as a whole doesn't take sports as seriously as loudon, blount, etc. and its not the players, coaches, or fans fault. for sweetwater, we were put on the academic watch list last year or the year before and i know that last year thats what most of the focus was on, even though we had a soccer team that went to substate for the first time ever and the girls basketball team made it to regionals. Personally, i think that athletics should be on the same level as academics but for some of the higher officials they seem to differ, and thats why i believe that athletics in the whole county has grown slowly whether its poor funding, support, etc. like you said this debate is taking place all over the country, and it has got alot to do with some of the bills in washington; but this is coacht not fox news or cnn, so i wont go there
  7. you're right about sequoyah im really glad they've come along this year, although the win/loss record doesn't show it you can tell that summeys making the adjustments needed to turn sequoyah into a winning program. Personally, i think it will be a while before the chiefs can take the crown from sweetwater, i mean when you'll had felton and jones i figured you would blow us off the field like you did loudon; but i was wrong. Anyways though i hate to admit it but you all are closing the gap that we've had on you'll for years and for a sweetwater fan, from my perspective, that shouldn't be happening. but good luck the rest of the year i always like for the chiefs and the bears to do well, being a monroe countian
  8. #12 formerly of sweetwater did go to loudon, i think he's been enrolled for maybe 2 weeks. i had heard he had been kicked off the team but i won't go into that b/c i don't know if anything i heard is true. i have a couple of friends from loudon, so you can guess that ive really been having to take it from them about him moving up there. on to staff, personally, i think we've been underperforming since rhodes left in 05. while staff hasn't had the talent rhodes did 00-02, he definitely had the talent this year to beat rockwood and if not beat compete with loudon. during the rockwood game, it seemed like the team decided to not even show up until the fourth quarter started (something we've been known to do in the past) and againist loudon, we basically had them on the ropes at the end of the first half; but we decided to risk it and it failed not to mention the 3-4 hb passes in a row to johnkins. so personally, while we've not been dreadful and lost to sequoyah, we've certainly played our way out of the top 4 in the region this year, when most had us vying with the likes of alcoa, cak, etc.
  9. i've watched both teams play and i would have to say that loudon will beat rockwood by 1 or 2 touchdowns. rockwood is more of a smashmouth football team, which was hard for sweetwater to stop; but loudon has the defense to line up and stop the run. good luck to both teams friday night
  10. actually it was #23 who fumbled but either way i was really impressed with polk co coming all the way back when they were down by 10 at one point in the second half. i just wish that sweetwater could put together a whole football game, and once their able to then, they might do some damage but with earlier losses to rockwood and loudon it may be too late for us to get one of those five playoff spots. polk co was fairly dominant on the ground and im sort of suprised we won the game tonight, b/c we are more of a finesse defense instead of a line up and run right at em' defense, thankfully we have chris johnkins #2 probably our mvp of the season, in order to make the playoffs though we have to make adjustments at halftime both, againist loudon and polk our outside sweep and inside draw worked perfectly in the first half, but when teams where able to go to the locker room and come back able to stop the run, we would just be determined to pound the ball 2-3 times in a row before we would need johnkins to bail us out, which pretty much cost us a touchdown on the interception. anyways, i know we'll make improvements this week, take care of oliver springs (like we should) and get ready for a tough couple of weeks with webb and cak coming up.
