The worst problem for SP playing large schools with huge enrollment would be depth as you commented on zone pirate. I think So.Pitts. would be ok with a game every now and then but a whole season would be far tougher.

The pirates will again have a sub standard game but will play well enough to dominate SD. So.Pitt. seems to have a hard time playing well at Finley.

This I agree with. It would be a problem for the privates primarily. As I see it, the privates that admit to recruiting would gain advantage over the smaller schools with less money. There would always be someone with an advantage. The public schools who attempt to keep their kids at home would continue to loose some, but at least they would know the privates were up front offering more.

wetting the grass has been around for decades. So. Pitts. has had that tactic used against several times thru the years.

Tn. Temple was lucky they didn't get worse punishment. It amazes me the programs that use different recruiting styles think they are not visuable to everyone.

The players and coaches should be very proud of this game. The pirates made a statement early. This was a good step up the trail to the playoffs.

Hey old pirate maybe zonepirate will have some stats. I went to the game and the young boys played hard and beat up on the tigers. The Hale kid had a good night running the ball and zone pirate's son, Travis had some nice runs and several good passes.

Hey OP, I have recently got on this web site. Boy, you have not been nice to the whitwell people. I do agree with what you have posted. The game friday was a dagger for the whitwell followers. hate that you'll miss the B-team game. I remember going on some of those shopping/looking trips. I don't miss those at all. We need to get together and talk, I'm sure I must know you.

Well, I would like to add some info here. The school board received prospective bid proposals from arch/firm on all the building projects. 2 came in over budget, the SP gym was far over. The SP project was then sent to another contractor which cut it by nearly 1 million. I have yet understand why all 3 were not re-bid. It stands to reason if another contractor could save that much on the SP build then they probably could save on the other 2 projects. The whitwell project reportedly had individual restrooms removed from every class room. I have never-ever seen a school that had restrooms in every class room. The 1 thing that separates the two communities in this dispute is the fact that SP never asked for, sent letters home requesting, or went to the county meeting demanding Whitwell cut their project. I have family in whitwell and I'm quite sure more than SamHain. I witnessed the 11-12 little league game saturday. SP certainly is small in numbers. I was very impressed with 1 RB for No. Marion and the Landford kid for SP.

It's clear to me OP feels as most SP people that the whitwell fans set back and did nothing and still got a new school and began to bash the proposed building project @ SP. That teacher/coach/assist.principal went way over the line when he sent letters and offered to add points to grades. A copy of that document was and still is floating around. I don't think OP was tacky or thuggish with his remarks. SamHain, never think that what happens between communities does not have anything to do with the boys playing football/basketball/baseball or marbles. I do agree with OP. OP,we need to talk about the old times,perhaps we can intice Dunwoody to give his views.

Wow.......... I have read these threads for along time but never registered. I will say the Pirates are very good and should dispose of the tigers rather easily come friday.OP has made several good commits regarding the game and elements that have fueled a dis-like for the whitwell folks. I know not all whitwell was involved but way too many were. I attended the county meeting and saw first hand what went on and it was maddening for the SP faithful. Back to the game, the pirates must not let last weeks results overly inflate their heads for there is still a long road before the playoffs and then the road will be harder each week. Good Luck to the pirates this week and hopefully the young kids will get that playing time also.
