  1. Hold on just a second. First off, don't start ripping a team of their victory by saying if it wasn't for one player they wouldn't have won. Also, don't come in here talking about a situation that you only read about through the media. Most people outside of the SF area don't know the whole story. The kid has a poor home life plus add that to the fact that a month and a half out of the summer he is in Lexington, KY with his mother because of custody issues. He could have only made maybe 2 weeks of the workouts, which granted he should have been there but you never know what is going on with a kid. Also, have you ever thought that maybe it isn't all about football. Maybe it had to do with a Coach trying to keep a kid of the streets and out of trouble. Maybe it had to do with the Seniors unanimously voting him back onto the team. Maybe a kid could have just made a mistake. Heaven forbid someone give a 17 yr old kid a second chance. I heard of what Avent had to do to get back onto the team, punishment wise, and I guarantee you that he paid a price for not being their all summer. It wasn't like he just walked back onto the team. Not to mention that Coach Spivey has done so much for this football team, school, and the community as a whole for you to pass judgment on him. Knowing Coach Spivey for the past year and a half, I guarantee you that the thought of having a down season and needing Avent back to win was definitely not the first thing he thought about before letting Avent back onto the team. Coach Spivey is a great guy and would do anything for pretty much any person. I bet you didn't know that one to two weeks ago he let a freshman or sophomore, cannot recall which it was, onto the team during week 5-6. The kid hadn't practiced, worked out, or previously played. He was just giving a kid an opportunity to be apart of something because maybe for some people it goes beyond winning footballs games. Football is about teaching young men life lessons on hard work, dedication, and team work. I am not trying to start an argument or get anything stirred up, but when I read your comment Metman it just rubbed me the wrong way. I will not say anything further on the matter, I just felt like the kid and the Coach needed to be defended a bit.
  2. Is there a separate Mr. Football Lineman and Back? If so then I would nominate Sam Curtis from South Fulton. He is a big kid that moves very well. He is a dominating force on both sides of the ball. He has had one off game so far this year, but he is truly the kind of player than you game plan around. He is getting recruited by UT-martin, Murray State, MTSU, and Arkansas St. Those are all that I have heard of, but I would argue that he is a solid candidate for Mr. Football.
  3. I'm going to say West Carrol by 2 TD's. I also don't think it is right to say that Greenfield should have won the game Friday night. They didn't play good ball the first half, but South Fulton held them on 4th down twice possibly three times inside the 25 yard line. That is just good determination to not let a team in the end zone. If you remember correctly, South Fulton was also stopped inside the 25 twice also. So to say Greenfield should have won, I don't agree with that. If you can make that argument then I can say South Fulton could have won by a bigger score since they were stopped also inside the 25 twice. This post is not intended to start an argument. It is only to take up for my Devils. It was a very entertaining game none the less.
  4. I got to the scrimmage a little late, but from what I saw the game was pretty lop sided. The score doesn't do SF justice. They fumbled maybe 3 or 4 times resulting in a reset at the 20 or a turnover. SF's D completely shut Bruceton down. The only time they made it past the 40 was when SF fumbled on it's own 20 or 30. SF has a lot to work on but overall I was pretty pleased with how they looked after only 8 days of practice, and some young kids stepping in in very key spots. If they keep the work up and improve in the little things then this team has the making of going some places. One of the parents made it a point to say that the entire secondary except for Jacob Wade were 8th graders and Freshmen that most of them have never played. Is that true? Bruceton, your team looked energized and ready to go. Keep up the work and things will turn around. Good scrimmage and the people down there were great. Sam Curtis told me that 3 different Bruceton parents came up to him and told him they were sorry to hear about his Dad. I think that's so classy to have done that. Good luck in the summer and See you again in August. I hear we have another scrimmage set in the summer for Bruceton to come to SF.
  5. There is a scrimmage with Bruceton sometime towards the end of May. As far as I've heard Coach Spivey has been working the crap out of the guys and they feel like they will be physically prepared. They lost a lot with the Seniors leaving, but they are also gaining a lot with a very talented freshman class coming in. They also keep Sam Curtis, Jonathon Avent, and Jared Fowler. I think the Devils will be ok, and I think Coach Spivey will have them prepared for battle.
  6. It will more than likely be Jacob Wade. He is going to be a Junior and he can fly. He is tall and lanky and might be as fast or just a bit slower than Avent. He will be great running our offense if he can get in and learn it. Could even be an upcoming Freshman Jaquay Garmon. He has very impressive skills. Might even be able to throw the ball 50 yards. An unbelievable cannon. The whole Freshman class will take SF to a new level. Give them a year or two to grow and add strength because they are already fast enough. I'm so excited to see what Coach Spivey can do with them.
  7. I might be wrong but I believe we have to play Trenton Peabody, Humbolt, Gleason are some of our tough games. I still haven't quite figured it out yet, but I haven't heard about the Reidland game. I know we always play them in the Jamboree and we beat them by 4 Td's in the Jamboree. Rough!
  8. I believe somewhere between 10-15 seniors graduated this year. They will return 6 seniors. Three of which are a BIG part of the team. Sam Curtis the 6'4 325 pd. Lineman. Jonathon Avent a 6'1 225 pd RB that runs around a 4.5 40. Jared Fowler who is around 5'8 200 but runs like a tank. He plays fullback. South Fulton has a freakishly athletic freshman group coming up. I would say a few of them could step in immediately and make an impact, and some of them are going to have to. I'm excited to watch and see what coach spivey turns this group into. He definitely knows what he's doing. I know that the lifting from mostly just this summer paid off greatly. Of course they still weren't up to the likes of the powers in the Region, but i'm anxious to see what Coach Spivey can do with a full off-season. SF is going to be back on the map soon. Keep working hard for Coach Spivey and it will be sooner than you think.
  9. Sounds about right. I think Zach Wallace gets in before Cody Ezell from Gleason. Each team gets four players right? I agree with the SF picks. Sam Curtis played like an Animal the last two games of the year. Makes me wonder where he was the first 8? Was it a new game plan for did he just want to make it to the play-offs that bad?
  10. He also threw three interceptions, and fumbled twice. That's whats not impressive. I also read earlier, but I'm not for sure if it was you. Someone said that it would have been a 30 pt. game if UC wouldn't have had 3 turnovers. You have to remember that SF had 4 maybe 5 turnovers, and about 4 penalties that allowed four of UC's drives to continue. This game could have been alot diff. and in favor of SF.
  11. Brandt Sission is a very valuable asset to this team. He brings good size to the offensive and defensive lines. Losing these two will be a huge loss. I won't say that we will lose because they are gone, but it does make me wonder how this game will turn out now. I was highly confident that this was going to be a good smash mouthed football game and now I'm not for sure. Stepping in for Sission will be a 5'7 sophomore that just isn't strong or experienced enough to play against UC. Starting for Alexander will be a 5'6 Junior that weighs about 160 pd!..... I just hope they realize that they are going to have to step up in a bigggg way Tomorrow night. I agree with Butchie and Devilbooster. I even agree with the coach. It would be different if they had 100 players on the team but they don't. They are not only letting down the team and the coaches, but the school and the town. P and G i see you reasoning behind it, but he was brought here to build a program. He wanted from the start full commitment, and hard work. This isn't commitment. Leaving for two weeks in the middle of the season isn't right. They will not only miss the UC game but the LC game to. TWO HUGE REGION GAMES. Ugh, we will see what happens.
  12. They allowed 53 yards rushing against Greenfield.
  13. Guys, yall are taking this way our of proportion. We are not talking "trash", we aren't getting the big head, and we are not saying we are the best team. We are simply saying that after going I believe 5-25 the last three years that this is the greatest way to start. Give a team that had completely no confidence in the world a little hope. You guys are supposed to beat us, big whoop. Doesn't mean we can't say we are going to fight whether we are playing West Carroll or big bad UC. You guys might beat us by a touchdown or two, but that still doesn't take away from what these boys have done this season. You guys act like we are dogging you and saying you are pathetic and SF is god. We aren't. I agree that UC is a tough tough team. Think if it was your team? If my memory serves me correct yall weren't very good in 2A. Yall move down to 1A, you start beating teams that are smaller. Let me give you a pat on the back. But seriously be in our shoes. Would you not want all of this confidence in a team that has had nothing to smile for the last 4 years? It's ok to get get on here and have a friendly rivalry like the rest of us, but don't get on here and down grade kids by saying they are going to get killed, they are no good, and they haven't played anybody.
  14. Jesus, people are hostile these days.
