  1. Both teams will put points on the board. could be a shootout. I got to see Moore Co on film and they will bring the best offense we will have seen this year. Moore County is a much better team during the second half of the season I feel Jbs will win. Final 42-28.
  2. Bull, keep telling yourself JB is overlooking MC. Heritage taught us a lesson in that we were believing the press and the polls. JB knows MC is good. I posted earlier MC may be the best 4 seed in the playoffs. Any team who can win 5 or six straight and beat MTP will have this teams respect. JBS has had its wake up call and we have responded the last two weeks. (JBS has respect for region 6 and MC may be the best team in the region right now) PS to the fans at jbs.--let's support our players--but shut up about how good they might be and let them focus on the game. Don't tell these kids about the opportunities they have because in your playing days and mine we did not come close to what they have accomplished. The coaches and the seniors will take care of that and they know what can lie ahead but Moore County is all that matters, Let them focus on a game at a time and wherever it ends and let them know how happy they have made us for allowing us to be on the ride. We need to let the last the 05 and 06 seniors that we are grateful for their making we as fans excited and happy. They should not be thanking us for support--we need to thank them and the coaches for allowing we fans to be part of it. Whatever we do for these kids; it pales for what they have done for us.
  3. I believe region 5 1a is better overall than last year, still we cannot deny that 6-1a has outperformed us when it comes to playoffs. Only JBS has been competitive with 6-1a and from what i am hearing about Moore County we better bring our A game because Moore County is peaking at the right time. JBS, too, is playing its best ball. I feel JBS will be able to outscore opponents, but 6-1a don't take lightly Cascade or WHH. Cascade showed charater by beating WHH and Heritage did beat JBS.
  4. Thanks WHH Patriots for waking us up Thanks Cascade Champions for bailing us out Thanks Jo Byrns for another great year--just stay focused on a good no. 4 seed in Moore County. They may be the best no. 4 seed in any region.
  5. all region players from jbs my opinion offensively-- shane spann-qb, orlando taylor,tb kurt reeves-te brett worsham-ol, josh justice-ol erin yates-se defense-michael corbin and matt boehler--dl. from other teams whh has the best linebackers and secondary in the region-- on offense-no. 34 cascade-no. 3 and their linemen across the board are good - no. 5 also mcewen 36 a good linebacker and no. 42 good on defensive line sorry no disrespect to other schools in the region, but whh, cascade, and mcewen have been jbs last three opponents. i know you have players who deserve to be mentioned, but as age comes on one--one's memory leaves hey forrest it stinks for you all to be 7-3 and not in the playoffs. tssaa needs to balance the size of regions where a 2-8 team like halls get in the playoffs only because they are in a 5 team region. there should not be ten team regions like region 5 or 9 teams regions like region 6. nor should there be 5 team regions as in region 8. tssaa do your job and fix this.
  6. I think either team can win. Both have their strengths and few weaknesses. If Jbs did not have a stake in the fight , like i said on my last post, I would be in the cheering for the Patriots . I expect the game to be more defensively dominated. i see a low scoring game unless mcclung gets hot running and passing and making big plays or number 3 for cascade gets healthy and runs wild. if i had to pick a final score it would 17 to 14 and if it comes down to the trenches i feel cascade has the edge, but i feel heritage will have the intangibles on their side. Their fans embarassed the Jbs fans when the two played. The Heritage fans were at an evangelical faith healing service while we at jbs acted lie we were at a funeral. But Heritage woke us up though and we really got into the game at Cascade. We at JBS no longer take winning for granted in the regular season. JBS has its own dogfight with Mcewen. (dogfight here refers to the football game with Mcewen--i do not want people to think Jbs condones dogfighting and that this would be our halftime time entertainment via a purchase of dogs from Michael Vick and friends)
  7. hey coaches great work in preparation Great game last night. Red Devils get ready to stop the run. Coaches i challenge you to develop a defensive line rotation that can be used in certain situations. We are at best the 4th best defense in the region and a few weeks ago were outgained by Eagleville. Against Cascade we gave up 161 yards rushing and Heritage i believe had over a 140 yards. We need to develop a line package that is utilized in certain situations. obviously, no one can predict what each team will do each play but all of you are good coaches and all teams have tendencies. You have to leave Corbin ond Boehler on the field; occassionally getting Corbin some rest due to playing offense. A package of Boehler and Corbin at DE and Cato and Worham should be utilized to stop the run or at least forcing teams to play a jumbo package and then have to adjust to a quicker unit Boehler and Corbin should be moved inside to tackle and Nordy and Justice should come in passing or just forcing teams to adjust to a fast unit or a hog unit . Saunders too could play role. It foreces teams lines to adjust to vaious styles of play. Coach Adkins does a great job in finding his tendencies and other teams tendencies on offense--we better look at our tendencies on defense. There are times when linemen have been pulled and to be honest if they were in another defense they may have been in position to make a play. To be honest our defense can be predictable. However, I want to credit Coach Earhardt on his blitzes and playing more cover two in certain pass situations. This is meant to be constructive criticism and it is not a a put down on coach earhardt because i know all the coaches have input on both sides of the ball -overall the coaching staff deserves an A- for the job they have done this year. This team is not as talented as last years team--particularly defensively the stats show that. So coaches have some fun in developing schemes and changes in personel to not just stop the run, but to confuse your opponents. It is awful nice to hear another coach from the other side of the field to start yelling NO NO or having to call a timeout becaise you have confused them. Go back and llook at some things coach cowart did in the early part of the decade. Look at some his defenses such as phantom and phantom steamroller Coaches who worked with him should remember those defenses. changing a defensive fronts and blitzing and rotating personnel and changing coverages not only may help your defense, but make it more fun to coach. bringing both rovers to the strong side and blitzing can be productive--disguise your coverage by showing cover 2 and rotating to cover three and let you Orland come on a blitz When you are not as talented it is awful fun to mess other coaches minds. When you have a team guessing you will see them make mistakes. It becomes like playing checkers or chess. if you have a high school qb wondering if a olb is coming, if you are playing man coverage on side of the field and zone on the other this can mess with their mind. look at the success coach nolen has had in blitzing not to rush the passer but to stop the run. Simply we need to be creative and you will be surprised how easy it is to teach and how our average defense could become a good one in adding a couple of new packages and schemes over the next two or three weeks as we make our run to Murfressboro and yes i believe we have the quality coaches and players to get us there. ps if region 4 is the best on the eastern side of the state anyone of us from region 5 or 6 should be two touchdown favorites on any team from region 4. South Pittsburgh I will admit does look very strong. imagine Boehler at Lb and sending him on a blitz while an olb opposite him comes off the edge and you play man in underneath and zone coverage over the top. My mouth is drooling coaches this is when it can be fun for you and the kids. i believe we have the best coaching staff in the region and i believe we could have a defense by week two or three in the playoffs that be quite a bit better. donnie jones once told me when he was at SHS that they tried to add an extra package or two to help keep the kids entusiasm. (hey coach atkins was last night the first night you ever lined up in a bunch package on offense? now i know coach probably is smart enough not to get on these message boards but somebody point this statement to him.
  8. ps--if jbs did not have a stake in this game i would be all out for whh
  9. after seeing both teams if the real cascade shows up it will be slugfest. cascade's defensive line should be able to control heritage up front. if cascade'linemen and linebackers play the way they can i feel heritage will have to hit big plays to score. heritage's defense is very good i feel they have the best linebacking core in the region. both teams secondaries are above average. skill people i give the edge to cascade if number 3 is well after friday nights game. the quarterback position i feel breaks down this way--mclung is the brett favre of region 5. if he is on he can be great, but he can also make mistakes by simply trying too hard. cascade's quarterback is more of a pocket passer. if he has time he can pick you apart. he is not as likely to make the big play, but he is not as likely to turn the ball over. one question cascade will have to answer is when they lost to jbs last year in week 10 they simply did not bounce back in the playoffs. cascade needs to prove they are a team of character. last years team was junior dominated; this years team is senior dominated--they will need to show character and being a senior team they should be able to bounce back. heritage is having a great season and to be honest i feel they have the overall coaching advantage over cascade. i am not talking about the head coaches here i feel both coach parker and coach brown are good head coaches, but i think heritage has the better overall staff. if it comes down to the kicking game both are good, but i would give the edge to cascade finally, i hope cascade wins--i support jbs and my blood runs red--but their is a piece of my heart that has a deep feeling for the heritage school--the white house community. i once worked in white house and i grew to really like the community nearly as much as i do the cedar hill and adams community. good luck to jbs, cascade, heritage and mcewen in the playoffs. i hope hetitage gets a rematch in round 1 with collinwood and i hope cascade gets a rematch with wayne county and both win.
  10. The offense continues to click. according to jbs stats we had over 400 yards total offense. Cascade had nearly 300 yards of total offense, but I thought Coach Earhardt called a good defensive game. He played some cover 2, he blitzed some. We aren't a dominating defense, but we got the job done. Shane Spann stepped up as a leader tonight, the offensive line did a good job, Orlando Taylor another good game. He is not just a good running back, but an outstanding receiver. I think our coure group of 5 receivers, Yates, Reeves, Morris , Taylor and Edwards do a good fine job. To me the offensive linemen were the mvp's. That is not to take away from the big night Shane and Orland had, but let's give our line credit for playing solid and helping Shane and Orlando have big nights. Lastly Cascade is a very good football game. The score does not at all indicate the competiviness of this game. Jbs got two late scores from a long TD run by Orlando and after an interception by Matt Shepherd that he returned to the one yard line that set up the last TD. Cascade is a class team with quality coaching, good players, and superb fans. They are a top ten team.
  11. people will be watching the quarterbacks, running backs, and receivers, but the best and perhaps most crucial matchup may take place when no. 54 for cascade nathan armstrong who arguably is the best defensive end in the region and probably best defensive lineman goes against no. 63 brett worsham for jbs. who has moved to tackel this year and may be the best at his position in the region. both 54 and 63 were on the on-the ball -all-mid state team. 54 for cascade will sometims flip to the other side and he will have another tough match-up with 56 michael corbin. corbin is a good solid offensive tackle, though a little undersized; he has good movement with his feet. for people who understand how good football is played corbin is probably the best all-around lineman on the team for his play on both offense and defense. i understand the other de's who play for cascade are pretty good, also.
  12. Probably Cascade. Many thought it would last year, but jbs o line won the battle, but the o line is not like last years. You have number 63 at tackle this year, hence he is not pulling and making holes. The guards are quick but are small. It is going to be difficult for jbs to run the ball as well as last year. Our traps and quarterback mid-lines may not work as well without a big body hitting Cascade. Still our guards, though undersized, are tough.
  13. I am a supporter of the jbs red devils, but whh should be ranked above jbs. not only did they win they won in the dungeon. once again congratulations for whh victory. i hope jbs and heritage meet in the playoffs. I am not sure Cascade is too highly rated. Cascade High School, Coach Parker and his staff , as well as, the players are a class act and deserve the respect.
  14. I HEAR COACH BROWN HAS A MOWHAWK. IS HE RELIVING HIS DAYS AS THE INDIAN'S COACH. CONGRATULATIONS ON THE WIN--HOPE TO SEE YOU IN THE PLAYOFFS--JBS
  15. Which teams have the best offensive lines? This could be a major key in how far a team goes in the playoffs.
  16. I hope the person on the website is not really a player. He maybe jbs answer to patriot 16. There is nothing wrong in thinking your team will win, but the arrogance is not confidence it is rudeness. Everyone needs to respect their opponents. I believe this will be a hard fought football game between two good teams.
  17. Jo Byrns will have to probably score in excess of thirty points. Heritage did a good job in stopping our offense both offensively and defensively. The Heritage offense controled the ball the second half. This took away our rythm. Cascade is similar in that they are big and physical. Jo Byrns needs to emphasize the mental part of the game this week. Many might disagree but I feel a lesser emphasis on contact might be helpful to the Red Devils. One bright spot in last nights game particularly in the first half our offensive line did pretty good job against a big physical team. I really thought we should have run the ball more in the second half once Heritage got momentum. It seemed we could pick up positive yardage. We may not have been breaking 25 yard runs, but 4 or 5 yards isn't bad. But who am i to criticize Coach Adkins and his staff are 32-3 since 2005.
  18. Cascade will not lay down. This team has close to 20 seniors and will be ready for both JBS and WHH. I am a JBS supporter. I believe JBS will be ready to play and will be hungry when the team walks on the field at Cascade. Both teams will want this game. JBS will need to make some adjustments on defense in particular. But make no mistake Cascade will not lay down. We better be ready to play four quarters of hardnosed football. Go Red Devils
  19. Congratulations Heritage! I am a Jo Byrns supporter, but you all have come along way the last couple of years. Hey Red Devil fans lets make sure we stay behind our guys and who knows a WHH and JBS match-up could take place in the playoffs. We need to learn from our mistakes and grow from this game. Players, coaches, and fans Cascade is a big game. Let's get focused on another top ten team in the state. GO RED DEVILS
  20. one of the players that gets overlooked is joey mcclung for heritage. he is gutsy and has alot of fight. two years ago i thought if heritage had to rely on him as a quarterback they would not be successful. i was wrong. he has improved skill wise and more importantly his leadership skills feed the heritage offense. do not underrate him jbs. i believe against ncs he had over 100 yards rushing and passing. PLAY YOUR BEST GAME RED DEVILS
  21. it was the final score between collinwood and jbs in last years playoff game 49 to 30. i felt both teams fought hard and i just used this as my name due to the effort put in by jbs late in the game. i just repeated the number and added a and b for the heck of it. good luck this week cascade i hope week nine is for all the marbles.
  22. The jbs and whh game should be the top game in middle tennessee in single A. I feel both of these teams are top ten teams in 1A. If you add Cascade I feel 5-1A has three teams that deserve to be rated in the top ten. I am sure there will be some trash talking among fans, but I think both teams know if they do not play well the other team will beat them. I expect an intense game. For people who are die hard high school football fans you need to be at the Dungeon Friday Night. GO RED DEVILS
